Stayed for one night on 24.02.2020 as my husband and I got a my hotel break voucher off our daughter for Xmas. We chose this hotel as liked the look of it and had read some reviews on it. We were not disappointed. Hotel was lovely, food was delicious, all staff were friendly and nothing was a chore for them. Would definitely book again but maybe a summer break.

We decided on a last minute booking, to break up our journey home. Hubby rang to confirm an accessible room was available. We were literally 2 mins away and by the time we got there, they had put the ramp out, so I could get up the steps into the hotel. We opted to dine in and we did not regret it at all. I have to say that it was the best meal I've had for a long time. Overall, the service was fantastic!

Access was never an issue (this usually causes an issue somewhere) Staff were really welcoming and helpful. We have definitely found a lovely place to stay in the future. Thank you so much, for making our stay a relaxing one.

The hotel is lovely and easy to find, we had room 38. Lovely 4 posters bed, dinner is good value. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, more to do with lack of staff. One poor lady trying to do it all by herself. Overall a nice hotel, and they do weddings there as well

We arrived at 8pm for a late check-in in and were greeted with a warm welcome by Jane on reception. We had booked a twin, dog friendly room on the ground floor and a lovely dog bed and feeding / water bowls provided - a rare and lovely touch! PROS: Lovely grounds, large rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff and very dog friendly! CONS: bathrooms need some attention to cleaning, breakfast needs to be hot as was still cold after returning to reheat and checkout is quite early at 10am. These issues are very easily remedied!

Enjoyed our stay here, food was excellent, we ate in the bar area, both nights, they must have a good chef/chef's? Lovely helpful manager and all of the staff! Good lad behind the bar! Nice beer! Breakfast was great, good choice! They seem to be refurbishing areas around the hotel? And the bedrooms could do with being modernised? And I'm sure that will be done in the future? All in all great value!

We have just spent 2 nights here as part of a large family gathering for New Year and can't praise the hotel enough. Venue great - staff great and food brilliant. Rooms spotless.although some funny plumbing sounds. But didn't spoil anything. Beds so comfy. Nothing was too much trouble. Think we might be back next New Year.with more of us. Thank you The Gables for making our stay brilliant.

Stayed at New Year. Staff were great and the evening meal/breakfast was spot on. A couple of the older bedrooms can be a bit noisy but generally very clean and warm.

Staff outstanding. Bathroom sparkling. Decor is a bit dated but this did not affect our stay. My sons wedding was held there (18.12.21). The staff couldn't have been better. Very patient with young children and some challenging adults. I worried about the food but it was also OUTSTANDING. Fresh and loads of variety. A big big thank you. You all made a magical day very special.

The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful and our bar lunch was pretty good. I took one star off because the hotel is desperately needing a makeover. it's looking quite tired and in need of redecoration.

Every need provided. Service throughout professional and efficient. Exceptional in one case. After departing I discovered I had left my wedding and engagement rings in my room. We had already driven homeward for 2hrs. The manager was very calm and already had my jewellry in the safe when I called in a panic. His understanding and informative plan to return my rings was above and beyond duty.

It's how staff perform when the unexpected happens and the difference between the results Mine were happy memories, and I would thoroughly recommend staying here knowing you are in safe, trust worthy hands. Great Manager!

Arrived late due to the motorway being closed but was greated by a smile and friendly face. Nothing was a problem the room was great and breakfast was great and although the time I went was busy, the staff could not be more apologetic and helpful. Overall a great stay

We booked the Gables after a late cancellation from our planned hotel. We rang direct and were offered a dinner, bed and breakfast deal which was too good to refuse. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and directed to our room in the main building. The room was spacious and well equipped but some aspects of maintenance and decor could do with addressing.

However the room smelled fresh and well cleaned, the bedding was crisp and spotless and we slept well. The highlight for us was the value for money as the service and food were excellent. On our first night for starters we had a delicious homemade Tomato and lentil soup and a beetroot salad followed by a very tasty and well presented Haggis, neeps and tatties.

The breakfasts (traditional Scottish) were lovely as was that nights meal where we had soup, homemade mushroom, and the beetroot salad again. We both had the steak and Guinness pie which was loaded with tender meat and lovely gravy. Overall we were quite pleased that our original hotel cancelled as we had an excellent stay at the Gables and would thoroughly recommend staying.

Delicious freshly made food. Staff really friendly and helpful. Not far off the motorway for a pit stop if your doing along haul either. Food slightly above average price but you get what you pay for in quality and was happy to pay it. Best home made pastry I've tasted (next to mums of course).
