Friendly, welcoming service is just one of the hallmarks of this beautifully appointed and popular, family-run four star hotel. The sixty eight attractive rooms, all with ensuite bathroom or shower, enhance the theme of elegant comfort, which continues through the award-winning Four Seasons Restaurant, the Bistro and Cocktail Bar. Only the finest expertise and attention to detail, of course, ever earns a hotel the privilege of hosting such important occasions as wedding receptions, anniversaries and other special days.

It was so bad we didn't stay. No heating at the beginning of December is unacceptable as was the lift not working. Non0e of these issues were told to us in advance. The beds weren't made up in the twin room adjoining the double. Stained mattresses is bad enough but on display is revolting. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Room was shabby and poorly maintained qitht the toilet seat being wobbly with some urine stains on it. The room stunk of cigarette smoke which lingeree throughout my stay even though the very nice lady on reception gave me a bottle of sir freshener. Bed was comfy and I actually slept very well. Breakfast was simple but ok however the lady serving was rude, abrupt and could do with a few lessons in customer service and relations. My company will not be coming back unfortunately

I booked a room and upon arrival at about 11.30 at night I was informed that somebody else is in the room that I paid for. The staff member kept on saying their other rooms were full and there is nothing they can do about it. So basically I had to sleep in the car that night. Its a complete disgrace. The hotel management never apologised and have not refunded me my money.
I made several phone calls asking to speak to their management but somehow they are never available. Avoid this hotel like the plague. They are basically a bunch of scammers.

Chose this hotel as we only had 1 spare night to get away due to work commitments and didn't want to go far. East kilbride is within 30 minutes from home and we got a good deal on the room at a little over 30 for the night and hotel on main ring road around the town centre shopping mall. wasn't expecting anything fancy. room basic and size of any regular household bedroom. decor a little shabby but there were signs up saying that a schedule of redecoration was in process so assume they hadn't got to ours yet. small bathroom with shower and storage/hanging area for clothes and cases. our outlook was across the roof / service yard of other buildings. the hotel does have a small car park underneath the building but it doesn't hold more than 20 cars and tight to turn if you have a larger car as it is only a single entrance/exit there is a lift from car park to all floors but be careful on entry and exit as the doors close quite fast. when we arrived there was no dining facilities available (despite website saying now open for breakfast and showing dining menus). staff pleasant and helpful when asked questions, took our comments about lift doors and decor ok and pointed us in the right direction to access the shopping mall (this is less than 1 minute walk from hotel entrance)

Angie at reception was lovely and very welcoming. I stayed in one of the first floor rooms - wasn't one of the new refurbished ones but it was still not a bad room. The bed was comfy and so I had a nice sleep. There were a few noises from neighbouring guests but what can you do about that? There are areas of the hotel that require some TLC and the bar/restaurant was closed which was a bit disappointing - however I was informed that this was due to renovation work. Hopefully next time I'm back I can sit in the lounge and have a beer.

Wish there was negative score option available. Shower was not working, complained, 3 days later room changed, was moved in to even a worse room, toilet wasn't flushing & shower was worse than the first room. Complained again, reply was "oh we don't check that, if it's working or not", we will change your room. Top it all up was the behaviour of the receptionist guy in the evening, in his opinion (in a supersonic tone) asking for viewing of the room they were going to put us in was "attitude problem", so decided to check out there & then. Plz avoid at all cost, they don't deserve your money.

Solo trip for business - The Bruce Hotel was perfect as the location is only 20 mins drive from Glasgow and more than half the price! A bit outdated but I stayed in the Superior Room which was newly refurbished and was really nice - the bed was very comfortable and I had good nights sleep. Breakfast is a "Grab & Go" options - not ideal but it wasn't an issue for me - I had my breakfast in the closed restaurant.

The Bruce describes itself as a 'flagship hotel' - presumably referring to RMS Titanic. That it is ranked bottom of all hotels in East Kilbride is unsurprising; that the management avoids answering detailed criticism of the hotel's upkeep, cleanliness and security is in itself an answer: rather than addressing the issues raised, the management prefers to ignore and persist in its negligence, which, in the end, will only make matters worse.
The Bruce Hotel is, in over 30 years of travel - including in the hotel industry - one of the shoddiest, most poorly managed and lax hotels I have ever come across. The outside areas - strewn with cigarette butts, discarded drinks, wrappers and other litter - were never cleaned for four days. The bathroom door lock had been broken off and never replaced.
The window could not shut allowing flies into the room. The elevator door jammed on several occasions and no action was taken. No room servicing took place because, the hotel claimed, of COVID, despite other hotels in the same town offering daily room service. Towels were never replaced, daily supplies of coffee, tea and toiletries were never supplied. Replacement bedding had to be requested twice before it appeared.
The hotel remains open throughout the night with, frequently, no supervision. Ignorant guests disturb other guests in the hotel through the telephones, yet the hotel is unable to check in-house call records. Apart from a scant and cold breakfast, no hot food is available (despite it being available in other hotels), there are no drinks machines, no snacks: nothing.
The common areas are dirty, and the elevator is filthy. References in reviews from last year talk about the hotel undergoing renovation - and that same excuse continues to be given this year. Either the hotel is lying through its teeth, or a refund should be demanded from the renovators. By all means, keep ignoring the reviews: UK Trading Standards, the Scottish Tourist Board and the UK Consumers' Arbitration will be a little more attentive than you are because the Bruce Hotel is being reported to all of them.

Stayed here for 4 days - Monday to Thursday. As a construction worker The Bruce Hotel was perfect for me as they have additional parking for big vans, like mine! It's a shame the bar was closed but the receptionist informed me this was due to staffing issues - hopefully they'll get this sorted for the next time I'm up. Staff were amazing and made my stay warm and welcoming. Would recommend.
