Torbay has its own pace, style and a beauty all of its own. Theres everything here for a holiday in the most beautiful part of Engand. From mile long neolithic caves to clifftop walks Torbay has everything. Sandy red 5* water quality beaches, amusements, and a water park will keep the kids occupied during the summer and Torbay's numerous hotels and local campsites cater for all pockets.
If history is your thing, Stonehenge is an hour away by car in neighbouring Somerset on the A303, and Avebury ring is just up the M5. Torquay has its own prehistoric cave system providing a good half mile walk underground. The rugged Dartmoor with it's famous prison is only 40 minutes drive away. On the moors you can find Dartmoor ponies, and miles of wilderness with free parking at most places.
Find out about the ghost story behind the name of Black dog Tor. Buckfast Abbey and its gardens is a full sized church built by just three monks over a period of thirty years and is 45 minutes from Torquay. Not far away from there is the Butterfly farm. Plymouth is an hour away by car and has everything you would expect of a modern city. Just further on is the border of Cornwall. Remember to take your cash with you, the let you in for free to Cornwall, but they charge a toll on the bridge to leave!
