Service & food gone downhill. The food portions are miniscule and trying to be too fancy, need to go back to good, simple home cooking meals. Very expensive for both accommodation and food & drinks. We will not be coming back.

Apart from covic we have been going to the palace hotel for years when it was owned by Steve since being taken over we have been very disappointed with food and the big changes no silver service which we both liked some staff are young and don't know how to great the older people the prices have gone up to high for the service we get the manager is a very nice person and he always likes to please everyone to make them happy in their stay at the hotel

Lovely holiday, food and service could not fault, waitresses couldn't do enough for you and so friendly, entertainment at night was good but no entertainment on a Wednesday night not even music playing. Would recommend this hotel.

Rooms are very clean but a bit dated. Our room was very overpriced. However all the staff are very polite and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them. We have been to the Palace many times but this was the last time as we no longer feel we get value for money. A room we have stayed in when available for no extra cost they wanted to charge an extra 40 a night

The location is perfect. Literally couldn't get closer to the beach and pier. About 5 mins down from the main road with all the amusements etc. We used the swimming pool at the hotel. The only thing I would say is that they didn't warn me when me and my son booked swimming, that the pool is a constant 4ft deep so my son being 4ft couldn't stand up in it without being under water and doesn't know how to tred water yet. He still enjoyed himself but made it very stressful for me. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very nice. Would absolutely stay here again.

(weekend stay) Room - Poor, visible damage and dirt on a lot of items (cracked tiles, sink, white splashes down the bedside tables) Bed was far too soft and springy, room warm all day with no circulation. Breakfast - Good, we got in early so there was almost no waiting on hot food and the selection of cold food was full. Lunch - Poor, service was slow and we had 3 different waitresses.

There was also a little fiasco with a large party of women that were served afternoon tea but didn't touch a bite. The staff were all busy with that and left the rest of the room waiting. Almost every table left uncleared at the point of the large party exiting and leaving their food. Dinner - Great, really good service - quality, flavour and variety was what you would expect for the price.

Staff - Good, friendly but disorganised. We were genuinely sad that the young girl who served us on our first night wasn't there for our second, she was great and was a cut above the rest. There seemed to be a lack of communication between service, kitchen and reception staff. Overall - Poor. For the price you pay to stay at this hotel it's an uncomfortable sleep coupled with very young and inexperienced staff versus a great evening meal and fresh scones.

In future we will look at staying at the new Mercure hotel on the same street and visit the Palace for the evening meal only. It's a shame as this was our 4th stay and over several years the quality has really dropped.

Comfortable traditional style Hotel in prime Sea Front location. Pleasant staff. Good 3 course meals plus afternoon Tea. Terrace overlooking Bay, garden, ample parking and leisure facilities.

Stayed here with my 4 year old son for 3 nights. It is a very very very noisy hotel. The floors in all rooms are making a very loud noise makes it impossible to have a decent sleep, not only because of your own room but because of your next door and the people stay upstairs, whenever anyone walks it just wakes your up, so if you are looking for somewhere nice and quiet to have a good rest THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.

What makes me so upset is that today is Monday, I was hoping when there's less people in the hotel for a Sunday night I could finally sleep better, but a staff in the bar was playing very loud TV since 5am. I went downstairs to tell him it's very noisy for our room, he then turned the volume down for like 2 bars and we can still hear everything very clearly in our room.

So here I am to give this 1 star review at 5:30am in the morning. I'm really sad as I was hoping I could have a good rest here with my son, but every night I struggle to sleep because of the noisy environment! So disappointed.

Lovely three night stay with breakfast. Clean room. Pool was a good size with jacuzzi. Shame about broken showers and steam room not working. In good location for walking and pubs

Well what can I say FANTASTIC HOTEL.We have just had a 3 night stay the food was 1st class compliments to the chef. Staff fantastic very pleasant and helpful. Room was great. club room with seaview and room was very clean we would recommend this hotel with no hesitation. We will be back without a doubt to all at the palace hotel Thankyou for a lovely stay

This hotel is so friendly, excellent staff, food.,B een here many times. Already book for later in the year. Top class.

Ideal for chippy and bingo tourists who are on holiday and love the glitter and karaoke. Avoid if on business as not geared up for working people.

The Palace Hotel put on an incredible Christmas dinner for all our guests. The setting was impeccable, the service was perfect, the choices of wine and food really great and we were treated like royalty. I can't speak highly enough for this venerable Paignton venue! Thank you very much

Lovely Hotel on Paignton Seafront. Good food served & the afternoon tea is delicious! Attentive staff and a well maintained property, very clean and well presented. Plenty of off street parking.

Just come back from The Palace Hotel We spent four nights there, and I must say we had a brilliant time. We were given an upgrade to a family room overlooking the garden, which was lovely. The food was excellent, and all of the staff were very pleasant, and went out of their way to please. We would definitely stay there again. 5 out of 5.

We had a one night stay following a day at paignton zoo. The hotel is in a fab location literally opposite the Peir! The staff were lovely, but particular shout outs to the restaurant manager and the bar tender (totally forgot to get their names!) They were absolutely rushed off their feet but still managed to deliver an amazing, warm and friendly service.

The hotel was really clean and our room was huge, beds were comfy & pillows were lovely and squashy! The pool was great, again lovely and clean, the temperature of the water could be slightly warmer but I'd say that about most pools. Can't wait to come back could of easily stayed a few more nights! Thanks Team!

Nice room, food so far nothing that special.breakfast one of the worse that i have had, the toast was a joke as was the egg that resembled a seagull egg. Not impressed at all and clearing the table was discusting.hopefully the service etc will improve as we still have 4 more days. Hotel appears TIRED and needs lots doing to it.

Just came back yesterday 11/10/21 after a coach trip for the weekend. Couldn't find a fault wrong with it staff couldn't help you more if they tried.all nice and polite. Clean all over the hotel.brilliant view out of the room looking over the pier.thinking of going back next year.id would give 9 out 10. Food brilliant.

We stayed for 4 nights a few days ago and couldn't fault it. The car park felt very spacious and secure. The ladies on reception were extremely helpful and friendly. There was free entertainment and a nice hotel bar with a great barman. The rooms were clean and well-serviced by the excellent maids. Breakfast was lovely and staffed by very friendly and efficient staff. We'd happily stay there again if we ever return to Paignton!
