Had a very enjoyable stay here for a day as part of a trip to Chester. Hotel team were all friendly and professional, grounds were a treat to walk around in the sun and the room was a good size, with touches of modern and traditional, with a nice view of the gardens - no issues. The pool area with steam room and sauna was a great place to relax, breakfast was cooked to order with lots of options and check in/out was straightforward. All in all, a lovely stay and good value for money, will hopefully visit again.

Positives- large house and gardens in a village location. Our room was nice and large. The bed was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was so tasty I savoured every mouthful. For me the highlight was the gardens I would pay money to tour them. Spectacular blooms in a large area of land and the hotel grows a lot of their own food. Negatives- long wait for food up to 30 minutes for the order to be taken in the restaurant and 25 minutes for food to arrive from the bar. Little areas of the room needed a bit more cleaning touch points on the door and switches were marked.

My wife and I got married here in May 2022 and I have nothing but praise and gratitude for them. Our wedding coordinator helped us plan out the event and gave advice throughout the process to make sure everything was in place, and on the day itself the staff were extremely helpful, attentive and professional, so that we were left with nothing to worry about in terms of things going smoothly.
The gardens and grounds are beautiful and made for a picturesque and relaxing backdrop to the event, and contain lots of great spots for photos. The decorations and spaces within the hotel were also top notch, with various different areas for people to explore and peel off into. The food was also excellent and easily catered for various dietary requirements for our guests, and we had a pizza van in the evening also organised by the hotel.
The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious and all of our guests who stayed had an excellent experience. We would thoroughly recommend Rowton Hall to anyone looking to host a wedding or event, or just as a great place to have a romantic getaway in a lovely setting.

I'm sorry to say I felt a little let down. I had high expectations after checking out the website, and looking at the picture of the superior rooms (which we booked). Our hotel room was nothing like the photos, and was smaller than our bedroom at home, despite the description on the website boasting space. The bathroom was awful and really didn't give us the feeling of luxury for what was supposed to be a romantic break away with my partner.
Not what we would expect from a 4 star hotel I'm afraid. The hotel was a little dated, and some areas (restaurant in specific) felt a little confused in terms of decor. We felt like we were in a senior citizens lunch room. The food was good for the price and the service was very friendly and quick. The spa was nice and very clean which we were happy about.
The location is fantastic and parking wasn't an issue. The front desk staff were also very friendly and professional. On our second day, the room was cleaned with fresh towels left, but we didn't get new biscuits, earl grey tea or toiletries. The plastic glasses in the bathroom felt a little cheap too. With a few changes this would be amazing! Would go back if cheaper, or if changes were made.

Lovely hotel and staff, very helpful and polite. We had to move Suit's because ours wasn't available on the first day and it really needed decorating, but nice room. I guess it's financial because of the shutdowns. Hence the 4 out of 5 star rating. The pool is really nice and water warm in January. Have to book your slot. The food is good, but better in the week.
Service is professional and friendly. Garden is nice to walk round enough car spaces. Would recommend for a short stay and 10 min drive to Chester Town. Bar is comfortable and food available.

Three stars only because - the facilities were nice and it was very empty when we went so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The massages we had were well received, although the woman who did mine had long nails and having them scratch my back was a bit gross. The staff were nice enough in person but booking us in was an absolute hassle and this is definitely not the sort of place that bothers to burden themselves with customer service.
We used vouchers to go, including one I'd bought for my Dad who unfortunately died before using it. I had asked for a refund but was refused one despite it being a bereavement situation. I then asked if there was anything else I could do with the voucher and could they maybe organise something between myself, my mum and my sister. They told me to just look on their website which is unnecessarily difficult to navigate and I just ended up buying additional vouchers.
I asked if I could extend the expiry date on the new ones, so that they aligned with the one I had given my Dad, and I was only able to get a confirmation over the phone - they didn't send anything in writing. When booking the vouchers in, I was given confirmation in my Dad's name (despite the multiple people I had had to tell about his death) and another random name.
I asked them to correct this and then they told me the booking date wasn't available anymore. They corrected this after but I was never given a written confirmation of the updated names and when we arrived, we were registered in with my Dad and the random person's name. We were told it wasn't an issue but it very deeply and emotionally was an issue because it undermined my Dad's death to my face - as though he was just a clerical error.
When we were leaving, my sister was asked for payment and didn't get an apology despite having to wait for them to find the vouchers (I had also already confirmed all the voucher codes in my email to them before arriving). The experience was okay in terms of the facilities but I was left with a really bad taste in my mouth so wouldn't recommend.

Nice facilities and lovely afternoon tea but poor quality massages. The outside of the building is also in need of some upkeep so quite underwhelming to look at. My partner and I booked a spa day with afternoon tea, including a deep tissue massage and full body massage Having enjoyed the morning with the great facilities and lovely aftertoon tea, we have been left feeling disappointed at the quality of the massage treatments.
I received a full body massage and unfortunately did not find this of a high quality. The massage therapist did not introduce herself to me (name etc), did not ask for any information in the form of 'problem areas' or even the level of pressure I would like from the massage. The massage was then soft and weak, with no attention to detail, and of poor quality compared to many previous massages I've had elsewhere.
The latter parts of the massage also felt rushed due to time. My partner also had a similar experience with his massage therapist, receiving a weak pressured deep tissue massage, a similarly poor lack of communication and attention to detail. In my opinion, introducing yourself, and discussing personal preference are a basic and fundamental part of most treatments.
The overall feeling we both had as we left the day was that the massage staff did not put in any extra effort or provide high quality treatments which is disappointing. Conversely, as mentioned above, there were positive aspects to the day Including some helpful reception staff, nice sauna, steam room and pool, and a lovely afternoon tea with scones, cakes and selection of sandwiches. Overall I wouldn't be recommending the spa day to others as I think there's better facilities and massage experiences at other spas in the area!

What a beautiful hotel. Lovely staff, delicious food and the bedroom was so divine with double shower and a double bath with bathrobes and slippers. Went for a walk around the grounds which even in December was magical. The hotel was decorated delightfully for Christmas. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Can't praise the staff at Rowton Hall highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble, they are genuinely friendly which enhances their lovely hotel. We spent 4 nights there, dining in the restaurant which was superb every evening. Rooms are lovely, spa facility excellent. Thoroughly recommended for a relaxing staycation

A truly beautiful inn! Staff were exceptionally pleasant and supportive. The lodging is spotless and possesses been flawlessly beautified in energy for Christmas. The food was heavenly. The spa was stunning! The lone thing I would say is we woke up early earlier today to entryways hammering from 5am, and we have remained at numerous inns where this hasn't been seen before as it hasn't upset us.
We understood that there is a staff entryway close to our room that shakes each time it closes on the grounds that the entryway bobs. (Its the entryway prompting outside, we were on the ground floor). Be that as it may, aside from the entryways, it's a flawless inn and we partook in our visit. Much thanks to you!

Reason for visit spa day. Clean. Main spa reception. expect very chilled and laid back service. Happy for you to do your own thing and ask if you need help. Otherwise your left to your own devices pretty much. Food OK not fine dining. We had lunchtime menu which formed part of the spa day deal. Lots of choice. Treatments, treatment rooms and therapists EXCELLENT.they are the reason I'd come back.
Pool lovely with steam room and sauna. Robes tired. Mine had a hole under the arm! I laughed. Oh, there are no disposable slippers so don't arrive in heels, bring your flip flops! Overall a pleasant enjoyable and relaxing experience.
