The Chester Grosvenor & Spa

Fabulous hotel right in the heart of this beautiful city, had delicious meal in the dining room at night, any cocktail I could dream up and afternoon tea the next day! All in all a very indulgent stay for my son's graduation but worth the extra cost involved to be so close to the cathedral.

Nice food, nice surroundings, pleasant staff. Another visit today( 28/5/22) Couple of drinks and dinner before heading to the theatre. Food was lovely, well presented, beautifully cooked and flavoursome. Service great, not pushy or overinvolved, but quietly observant. Recommend.

I booked an Afternoon Tea treat for a friends special birthday and the staff were really lovely. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a disappointment! As you can imagine it is quite expensive at this establishment but the food certainly did not deliver! There were five in our party and we each received an individual plate with FOUR Finger Sandwiches on, there was a little lettuce leaf on also but to say I was shocked was an understatement.

When we had eaten these FOUR Sandwiches I asked my friends if they would like anymore, to which they all replied that they would I caught the waitresses eye but I think she had heard me and came over to ask if we would like anymore. We each chose what we would like but we only received two finger sandwiches each of one filling. We had been served with tea and coffee and informed the tea would be refilled before we had any dessert but it wasn't.

Then she brought in the cake stand containing the selection of cakes. They all looked very nice but apart from the fresh scones they did not taste very inspiring, they were all rather bland and we left quite a lot of them. We were then presented with the bill and there was a 12.5% Service Charge added, this amount was almost as much as another guest being with us!

I asked for it to be removed and was then asked if there was something wrong with the service, I replied that the service was fine but I did not wish to pay on demand due to the fact that I pay what I think the service deserves. Needless to say I was rather disappointed with our visit and felt awful for my friend whose birthday it was. I really expected the food to be exceptional but I left feeling very flat and let down. We will not be visiting this establishment again for Afternoon Tea.

I've always wanted to stay here and had 3 of the most wonderful nights ever. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Staff are amazing and room service is standard, rooms are massive more like a suite, spa is fabulous *****

Purchased the spa day with lunch as a Birthday gift for my mum and I wouldn't recommend it, the place in general is looking tired, practically all the tiles were cracked in the thermal suite, dead flies in the shower like it hadn't been cleaned or used for ages, our facials were good however, as were the waiting area beds to 'relax' on, pity there weren't enough for everyone as they had over booked (it was only a Wednesday) so many people just standing around while some were lying down in this small room - a bit awkward.

Once a couple had used the thermal suite we were rushed in to take our hour allotted time in there, the foot spas didn't get cleaned between the last couple which was gross, the sauna had a weird smell and there was a cold room which just had a random hose pipe stored in it . I could go on and on but you get picture. We were then rushed out to make way for the next appointment before the restaurant had even opened so had to hang around the foyer waiting.

Food was OK, restaurant staff were very friendly and polite. I really don't understand where the reputation for this place comes from, they should have invested a bit of money into it while closed for lockdown because that thermal suite room is like a dusty old boot, nothing special at all.

Recently stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester with my 2 daughters and other family members. We had an amazing time. All the staff were fantastic, really helpful. The rooms were great as was the food. We didn't want to go home. Can't wait to go back. Maria B

Stayed at the Grosvenor as an anniversary gift. The rooms were really clean and comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful, the beds comfortable and the meals were out of this world! If you are staying, it is highly recommended that you use the valet parking as parking in Chester is difficult and expensive. Cannot wait to visit once again!

This hotel is poor at best. The reception staff are awful. Gill was so rude and not welcoming at all so that was to start. This is not a 5 star hotel, I visited this hotel because of the reviews and I cannot believe the things people will accept. The rooms are small and outdated even though we chose a deluxe room costing 540. The bath room is old and filthy! The spa has no pool only a sauna a steam and a sat room. Just overall a real let down for what it should be and what it is made out to be.

AN INCREDIBLE HOTEL WITH THOUGHTFUL STAFF. From the large comfortable suites, to the luxury bath products on offer, the spa and the staff we genuinely couldn't have asked for anything more. We have stayed at this hotel a few times now and couldn't recommend it enough. Can't wait to come back

Has a wonderful stay, everything from check in to check out was welcoming, lovely staff, great food and even better roomthanks to all at the Grosvenor.

We can't get over how delicious the breakfast was! And the location was perfect, in the middle of town where the shops were.

Absolutely wonderful hotel, I highly recommend a stay here. Nothing is too much trouble. The continental breakfast delivered to the room was well presented and delicious. Extremely clean and the bed and bed linen was so comfortable. Great nights sleep. Definitely worth the money.

Five stars for a 5 star hotel, luxury at its finest, the room was immaculate, got lost in the bed it was that big, Exceptionally clean not a thing out of place. Lovely staff from the concierge and the doorman to the barstaff and the cleaners, job well done everyone. Whiskey sours were on point. The multi story parking joins the hotel on the 2nd floor contactless tickets theres ANPR cameras just type in yr car reg on the way out. 10 for 24 hours is all I got charged (Jan 2022).

I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning on staying in Chester. The Staff were so friendly and gave us such a warm welcome. Our room was spotless and the food was 10/10. Would definitely go there again. Thank you

Very comfortable traditional hotel with the highest standards of customer service. From the tail coated man greeting the car, having checked the registration and knowing our name to greet us, to the table service only breakfast (The Grosvenor never did buffet, even pre-Covid). A proper hotel! The room was spacious, the bed huge and the kedgeree A1.

Lovely surroundings very chilled. wonderful foid and selection. only let down service was very slow considering the restuarant was virtually empty. would atill recommend.

Set right in the heart of Chester this is a great place to stop off for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a special treat - the staff are all very attentive and nothing is too much trouble - the place to come if you want to feel special or treat someone special

Lovely old hotel. Rooms a bit dated but very clean, beds very comfortable. Could not fault the staff, food or service. Enjoyed a three course meal on the first night, it was fabulous. Breakfasts both continental and English were amazing. Shopping in Chester was enjoyable due to being in the centre of town and the Christmas market was a bonus. Thanks for a great weekend.

All I can say is WOW. The staff are absolutely fantastic here, from each person I met, I was made to feel so welcome and important. They cannot do enough. Our rooms were really comfortable, and the food was the best I have ever tasted. Yes it's a bit on the expensive side, but worth every penny x

Lovely bedding, comfortable bed. Good size room. We booked a deluxe. Very friendly helpful staff. Nothing is a trouble to anyone. Great location, parking easy and secure. A very pleasurable experience so far.

The staff were helpful and kind. The room was beautiful, and fruit and welcome card was a nice touch. Although the radiator in bathroom did not work and a few misty windows need replacing in bedroom 206. I had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning in the New Year.

Absolutely fabulous hotel professional polite and friendly staff! Our room was well furnished and exceptionally clean. Great selection for breakfast, continental or full English. Multi storey car park with access direct into hotel. Would recommend and definitely stay again

Excellent night start to finish. 35th anniversary meal and a short walk back up to our room (actually we took the lift). Staff are attentive to needs, as you would expect from a five star hotel. Friendly and unobtrusive, there to make your stay special. Thank you
