Pinegrove Hotel The Pinegrove has a long and storied history in the city of Carlisle. Once known as a 'monk's haven', the building has been operating as a hotel since the 1960s, providing accommodation for those visiting Cumbria or travelling across the border. The main hotel building was built in 1877 for a wealthy wine merchant, and many of its original features, such as the tiled entrance hall and ornate cornices, remain to this day. One of our favourite features is the beautiful stained-glass window which was added to the first-floor landing in 1893.

Built in 1877 for a wealthy wine merchant the Pinegrove Hotel has many original features such as the tiled entrance hall and ornate cornices. One of our greatest features is a beautiful stained-glass window which was added to the first-floor landing in 1892. Before it became the Pinegrove, the victorian property was once owned by the Bishop of Carlisle, who used it as a 'Monks Haven'.

We have been here twice now. Staff are very friendly and we felt so relaxed when entering this hotel. The bed for so comfortable I fell asleep straight away. This hotel may not be the Hilton but certainly worth every penny. Highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be returning.

The hotel was great ideally located close to the town but also out the way of all the noise. The bar on site was great. The staff were amazing and so helpful.

Reading all the reviews I was a bit iffy about this hotel, however for what it cost for the room, location, breakfast, bar, parking I am giving this hotel 5*. Amazing helpful staff and very welcoming hotel, recommended xx

Nothing flashy but really appropriate. None of this '34 cushions on your bed' nonsense. Just comfortable bed, comfortable room, bathroom clean and adequate. Highly recommended.

Staff was very rude said pet friendly but can hear people walking and talking in rooms next door including flushing of toilets. To be rudely spoken to by the staff when mentioned this as because dogs could hear everyone they was unsettled. Left and they refused to give me refund. Not fit for purpose horrible experience Breakfast was under cooked aswell and cleanliness was not the best found hairs in Bath all in all horrible experience and would not recommend but would recommend the staff do hospitality corse

Clean and welcoming hotel. Friendly staff. Comfortable warm rooms. Some period features. Good breakfast. Convenient for walk or bus to centre of Carlisle. Shower was only disappointment. Good value.

Good hotel for a stop over, I was warned by a taxi driver, be careful there as it's where the farmers go, lol, not sure why that's a problem

Decent room. A bit dated but clean and a nice size. Enjoyed breakfast. A bit spoiled by some drunken guests who talked and knocked on each others doors most of the night. Good parking and lovely staff.

What an absolute gem of a place. Lovely period architecture, very comfortable room, friendly staff and nice little touches like hot chocolate and biscuits in the room as well as tea and coffee. Nice little bar on site. Close to Carlisle Town. All very pleasant.

Good location. The hotel was not serving food but there was a pub/restaurant and KFC within a few minutes walk. Bedroom was a good size with double bed, desk and chair, two further chairs and a wardrobe. Kettle and plenty of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Staff were friendly.

The rooms are small and very tired, we had the smallest ensuite ever. The bed was very soft, and a double, when most rooms these days offer a Queen size. However the staff were efficient and friendly and the cooked breakfast was excellent.

Stayed in family room at Pine Lodge and was very impressed. We arrived earlier than booking in time but we were allowed into our room. From the first member of staff to the last, I found them all to be very polite. The bar was very clear and well priced. If I was in area again, I would certainly use again.
