We were invited back last night following not such a great experience on our first visit and I must say it was like visiting a different establishment. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was very good the staff attentive, also our special thanks to Karen who was very friendly/professional member of the staff. Our thanks also go to the Alicia and the management who dealt with our initial visit Following our visit last night we will certainly be returning for more superb food. Many thanks for an enjoyable evening

We have been here for lunch and really loved it. With the history and friendly atmosphere we just wanted to come back. However, we booked for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and it was so disappointing. The food was so over cooked and hard, I nearly dislodged a filling on the roast potatoes. It's such a shame because for the same price it could be outstanding. Get a new chef or employ more kitchen staff. You could pack out this resistant on name alone. Just deliver reasonable food.

Went for afternoon tea with two of our grandchildren. I've wanted to go for sometime as I know some of its history. Fantastic building and location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our afternoon tea was lovely. The nice touch was the children has their own food served on a separate platter of plates, very traditional. They loved that, and my wife and I had our own.
So they cater for children very well. We then walked the beautiful gardens and there is much to see. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend. We did not stay at the hotel, but may now do this in the future.

Building, staff, room and grounds lovely. Food poor for evening meal and breakfast! Restaurant food trying to be something it isn't. Warm, pork fatty, my partner got half a duck breast! Stop with the dust, flowers, cubes, splodges, just serve hot, tasty food and decent portions. Think we all had the same gravy/sauce! Good size of ginger sponge but only a teaspoon of mango cream! Breakfast was no better. Buffet style, served for you, warm, slimy eggs. No one asked if we wanted more toast or tea! Disappointed

Great atmosphere, like living on a film set for Agatha Christie! The hotel exudes character and charm. Any history buff would be at home with the links to 617 Sqn. We went for Sunday lunch. Superb quality served in a lovely dining room. Friendly staff who were good at their job. We watched the Afternoon Teas being served in the lounge. They looked fabulous. Will have to stay overnight next time.

The restaurant has maintained its period aesthetic which might appeal to some and not to all. Regardless of my take on its interior, the food itself was exceptional. The attention to detail on every dish was admirable. The menu itself was a mix of classic ideas and new directions. The coconut in salad of the chickpea cakes was stunning, the scallops buttery and grilled just right and pork with pear done three ways was a mini taste adventure. Service was prompt, professional. A great night out.

It was a cold winter's day when we stayed at the Petwood Hotel but the warmth and efficiency of the staff soon warmed us up. The breakfast was exceptional as was the evening meal and our room was extremely clean and comfortable. A very clean and tastefully decorated hotel. We stayed here to mark an occasion and paid a little more than we are used to but for the little extra it was well worth it. We shall be definitely return. This is wonderful hotel is wonderfully kept by conscientious staff.

We have heard very good comments as regards the Petwood Hotel, we haven't actually stayed there, only walked in the grounds and spoke to a couple with their dog who were there for their seventh Christmas, so that speaks volumes, we will book sometime in the near future to see for ourselves. It is steeped in history being a base for the 617 squadron (Dam Busters) during the second world war.

It's a really lovely building, with great surroundings. Staff are very friendly, attentive and super helpful. Rooms are simple but clean, bright and comfortable. The bar is well stocked and there's a snooker room. The only thing I'd say is the food was a little underwhelming. Not bad by any stretch, but from the excitement drawn from the descriptions versus the reality, the meals just didn't quite hit the expectation. Everything else though, very good. Recommended!

Well, what can we say. Room - Executive double very nice, bed fabulously comfortable, en-suite very clean. But! The food and service extremely poor. Dinner choice for vegetarians very limited and over the top prices. Service at breakfast an absolute joke, Faulty Towers reincarnated! We had literally just sat down when the waitress asked for our hot food order, we said we hadn't chosen yet but instead of leaving and giving us time to choose she just stood by the table waiting.
Also seemed disgruntled when we 2 of our table wanted their hot drinks with the hot food and 2 of us wanted is served then. Hot food arrived while we were still eating cereal and fruits when we pointed out we was not ready she retorted "well chefs cooked it now". So we had no choice but to wolf down cereal etc. Asked where the toast was a very curt reply "it's coming" We requested more toast again a snapped reply "will put some more in when toaster is free".
At one point I saw one waitress wipe her hand across her nose and continue to serve people. A complete shambles. An obvious shortfall on staff training in every area, health and hygiene, manners and Total lack of respect for paying customers. Petwood you need a good shake up.

Visited for lunch and view of grounds. Food was amazing, really tasty and excellent quality. Service was also fantastic. The grounds were lovely, but was surprised that some fountains / water features had been left to run dry or were so full of green algae that the fountain was unable to pump. Some parts of grounds looked in need of a bit of t and c (long grass, weeds in borders) but all the gardens in the immediate location of the building were immaculate.
The building itself is immaculate inside and out and has a lot of history to it. My only other feedback is that given the massive size and number of rooms the building has, I was very surprised that you can stay and have a dog in your bedroom, but you can only eat outside. I totally get that most people don't want dogs where they are eating, but a designated bar area or different room could be used.
Surely you should either totally welcome dogs, or not at all. Our dog is well behaved, but I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving him on his own in a bedroom while we eat. All that said, we'd highly recommend a visit and would come back in the future especially if the dog policy was more realistic.

What an interesting hotel. Just stopped off there for a coffee while on an afternoon's bike ride. The good weather has brought out loads of people and the back lawn tables were full. Rather quaintly, we were told that "walk in" customers could not be served afternoon tea but we could order drinks! Good to know that standards are being maintained!

Just had 2 nights at this hotel and it was wonderful. Room was clean and tidy and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and there was a fab choice of options from fresh fruit to a full English, plus other options like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Staff were very polite and attentive. Grounds around the hotel were wonderful and would recommend a walk if you get a change. Yes we will be going back for another stay in time.

This place was great, full of history. OK I find the Dambusters just awesome! Now for what really matters, the staff was very attentive and eager to assist. They even looked around for a plug converter in the middle of the night so I could charge my electronics. We had dinner in the Dambusters room where right above the bar they have the actual tree that went through one of their planes! Sidetracked again sorry. OK the food was very tasty and the portions were just right.
For breakfast you can stick with cereal, juice/coffee, fruits, pastries or you can also order eggs "your way." The rooms weren't small like most hotels in the UK so you definitely don't feel closed in. Plus they have WiFi!

Visited for a wedding reception and was throughly impressed. Although I have to admit I was as impressed with the history of the hotel and the who had been there before. Its says RAF Officers mess all over it. From the little time I spent at the bar and wandering around the gardens it gave you classy. Bar was a little expensive mind you but aren't all hotel bars.
