A welcome from the staff as soon as you enter the Montana Hotel sets your mood just right and homely. Brilliant service from staff, rooms are compact but gives you the essentials - worth the value of pound. Light of India is a great restaurant adjoined to them and customer service is absolutely remarkable. If you are looking for a hotel in London, this is the place to go!

Good mid-range hotel, the staff and service are excellent. Great location near Hyde Park and loads of shops and bars. The rooms are small but very clean and have a fridge, kettle, shower over bath and iron. Worked very well for Olympia. In general it is a little dated but in good repair. Cromwell Road is busy all the time, ksso traffic noise could be an issue if you are a light sleeper! Recommended.

The staff were welcoming and hospitable and very well spoken. I came here after backpacking Asia and looked a mess, but was treated like I was their best customer! The single room is great, equipped with good tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom is shared but you have your own wash basin in the room. Great location in Kensington - 2 min walk to Glouster Road station which is on the Piccadilly (Heathrow line), so it is very convenient coming off a flight.

I needed a room for one night for work. The hotel is in an excellent location really close to tube and bus stops. I checked in very late which was no issue for the staff. Room was as described on the website, yes it was small, but I was aware of that, very clean, comfortable bed. It was not en-suite, however the bathroom was close by and again clean.
In the morning I had a cooked breakfast which was prepared quickly, staff very efficient, friendly and polite. Would recommend, yes some rooms may be small, but they are not hiding this in the description of the hotel. Clean rooms, nice staff, what else do you want for an overnight work visit?

What a lovely hotel this is. Such charming, warm and friendly staff. A lovely birthday surprise in my room too. Great location especially for visiting The Royal Albert Hall an easy walk (about 10/15 mins) We ate in their Indian restaurant and were delighted with the quality of the food and wonderful service. Breakfast (continental included in our very reasonable price) was very good and again the staff were wonderful. You can buy cooked breakfast if preferred. Very happy to recommend this friendly, comfortable, and well situated hotel.

Ignore the doomsayers like Lennard! This place is excellent. For under 100 per night, you won't get the Dorchester! You get a clean room with great views. Tea and coffee in the room, and Light of India is next door. Sure, I've stayed in fancier hotels all over the world, but I've paid for the "privilege" Handy for the museums and the cool vibe of west London. Book a room: enjoy life

Oh lord, where do I begin? First, I booked a room at this hotel for myself, as I had planned to travel alone. When I tried to cancel that to upgrade to a larger room because I was bringing a friend, they refused to reimburse me. Then I mistakenly booked my new room for three nights instead of two, and again they refused to reimburse me. They SUCK at customer service. HORRID. The place is old and musty and everything smells moldy. The food for the "free breakfast" is awful. Just say NO to this place.

We arrived about 2pm on a Monday. As everything had been paid in advance, check in took a matter of minutes. We were given a room in the basement, accessible via stairs off the bar. The room had two twin beds, a desk and bureau, small refrigerator, closet, TV, and a bathroom with full bathtub and shower and large medical cabinet. It was incredibly spacious by London standards.
Of course, not all was glorious: the room was very warm and humid even with air conditioning cranked as low as it could go, and our window view looked upon a nasty-looking cement drainage basin between buildings. I kept the curtains closed. A minor issue, all considered, but worth noting. The room was nice and quiet. Few rooms were along that hallway so there was little foot traffic, and no street traffic near us at all.
I actually slept pretty well. Everything in the bathroom worked without issue. We loved having a fridge in our room--there's a great Waitrose right across the nearest intersection, which made it easy to stash food and drinks in our room! The front desk staff was very pleasant whenever we passed through. Room service did a good job whenever they came by each day.
The breakfast buffet was included with our room package. The best way to describe it is "meh, " as it largely consisted of generic, made-long-in-advance foods like you'd find at a cheap motel chain breakfast buffet in the US. The only stand-out was the strawberries, which were fresh and fantastic. The staff there was nice and eager to help, but the mediocre food just didn't make it worthwhile to utilize again.
The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. It's just across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station. This was an easy connection point into the city, and on the direct Piccadilly line to Heathrow. Within walking distance are numerous restaurants of various ethnicities and price points, plus several great museums. We enjoyed the short walk up to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park. The neighborhood felt very safe.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and while the surrounding area is beautiful and desirable my husband and I were disappointed with the hotel itself. It is very dated and needs a lot of updating, the room was tiny leaving us with little room to actually walk on either side of the bed, the AC unit in the room did nothing to cool the room down, and the bed was uncomfortable. Pros: good WiFi, good location

We stayed a total of 5 nights here. Two in one room and when we came back it was for 3 nights. First room was ok, things were messy due to painting they were doing so we didn't mind. The next time we stayed we had a different room that was smaller and the air conditioning didn't work or the fridge. We called to have those things fixed and they came the next morning.
The fridge never got cold and when we called to let them know, they said we weren't used to the fridge temperature in London. None of our drinks or food were cold. However, for the inconvenience they gave us free breakfast in the morning. The beds were not comfortable at all. You had to sleep on top of the covers and use the extra blanket to not feel the springs. Staff was nice though.

We ordered a deluxe room which turned out to be a dark and cold room located in the basement. The room was equipped with five beds but we we only needed three. There was only one window, a very small one facing another room. We were able to look into each others rooms so we had to keep the curtains closed. We complained to the receptionist but

2.5 stars for this DATED hotel that needs an update, although the staff at the front desk is very nice! i guess for the price in London, I can't be too picky PROS: --Conveniently located next to Gloucester Tube stop w/ a Starbucks, Paul, Tesco express, & waitrose nearby --free WIFI --nice staff let us take fruit on the go for breakfast when we didn't have time to sit down! --lift goes to every floor (but it's small & slow) --hair dryer, fridge, TV, kettle, & safe provided --there's an indian restaurant downstairs, but we never tried it! heard it was good though & hotel guests get a discount CONS: (again ITS OLD & needs renovations) --our first room had plumbing issues w/ a leading sink, but it was fixed immediately --our second room had issues w/ the windows, we weren't allowed to open them --the decor & comforters need to be updated --loud adjacent street w/ trucks passing constantly I'm not sure if all guests get continental breakfast but it was a included for us: simple fair including toast, bananas, apples, canned pears/peaches, honey dew, yogurts, granola, cereal, milk, coffee, & juice

The previous reviewers were rating the restaurant and not the hotel (which is still really crap). This hotel is disgusting. A friend stayed a few nights nearby and when they were full and couldn't extend his trip he booked at Montana. Anyway, they led us him to his room and it was the size of a twin bed and about as clean as a functioning (and derelict) broom closet. If you're really broke and need a bed in London and would prefer to be central and possibly contract some diseases, stay here. Otherwise, avoid!

The Montana is a great little hotel in the Gloucester Road area. We stayed here twice during my visits to London before we moved into a flat. If you don't mind the occasional whiff of Indian cuisine from the restaurant that's located downstairs, it's a great place! Rooms are a bit on the tight side - but hey - it is London! You have the option to take a room with an en suite bathroom or shared; we always selected en suite so I can't comment about the shared facilities. Management were great, check in was easy. Great little place. Since we've moved away, we'll definitely hit up this place for our next visit!

Superlative service (even for one businesswoman dining alone, which often leads to being treated like a second class citizen), sparkling clean tablecloths and friendly atmosphere (maybe the Best of Bollywood Dance Video playing on an infinity loop would not have appealed to everyone but I loved it), and every dish was delicious (event my favorite, spinach with prawns, which I'm very picky about.) Made me feel very cared for both physically and otherwise. NOTE: Restaurant is called "Light of India."

The Indian Restaurant in the Montana Hotel is one of my favorites. The food is very good and the decor is tacky, but it's the memories that make this place special for me. On a recent trip to London, my wife and I just enjoyed our time here very much. There is no shortage of quality Indian food in London, but this one somehow became a favorite of ours. If you're in the area, please try it. I want them to still be there for our next trip to London.
