Services
In keeping with the hotel's history, the bar has now been decorated with 1966 memorabilia including a framed England football shirt signed by Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst. The hotel was home to the England football team post 1966 and others during. Outside of Bar 66 is a terrace overlooking our landscaped gardens which is adjacent to the nearby park, a great place in the summer to enjoy our rose gardens whilst enjoying a refreshing beverage. Bar 66 is busy in the evenings with guests watching the biggest football games on our 6ft projector screen.

I have been using the hotel a long time but a few times recently I was told that all the best rooms were taken over by NHS and the hotel was almost full. There were no nice rooms left and was dissapointed. The staff did refund me as I decided not to stay. It doesnt matter what room you book you could end up with not a nice room if the rooms are taken over by NHS. There is no guarantee of a good room. I have not seen this issue in other hotels. Maybe its best to check before you book if the hotel will be taken over by NHS.

This hotel appears to have a contract with British Gas & BT as the car park was full of vans. They only serve breakfast until 09:00. We had arrived the afternoon before from Central America and missed breakfast the following day by 30 minutes. We were advised to go to the local pub and have breakfast there. Very disappointing experience.

Absolutely awful - Avoid! Checked in at 15.00 checked out at 15.45. We were firstly met with a male receptionist who looked like it was an effort to welcome us. Miserable and barely spoke. I asked to pay cash, to which I was told yes for a 100 deposit. No such thing stated when I booked on booking.com. I managed to find a card I use for direct debits and reluctantly paid.
Into the musty smelling room, where there were holes in the net curtains. The room was old looking and needed tlc. My partner used the bathroom which had a sliding door, which then got stuck when she went to come out and took 2 of us to pull it back. Then the free WiFi. Once connected couldn't so much as read an email (we run a business back I'm Swindon) so was imperative we had WiFi. to go with it, the building was that old that we could even get network to make a call.
That was it, after 45 mins, we packed up and checked out. I told the happy looking receptionist the hotel wasn't for us, no good whatsoever, he simply said sorry. Sorry? I said could you at least refund Weds the 28th to me as I understood that it may be too late to get someone in today (Tuesday 27th July) He said he'd have to talk to a manager. I said don't bother as we had to find somewhere else quickly as we had no where. Hopefully they will refund 75 for Weds 28th July. Do not bother coming here. There is cheaper and much better hotels 5 miles away.

This is a hotel that could be wonderful and in its heyday (1966) probably was, however the rooms look dated, and so does the rest of the decor in all the other rooms. What upgrades have taken place are superficial and do not really benefit the experience of the customers. New doors slam shut with such a bang that mornings are quite noisy. We stayed during a period of very hot weather and the room was stifling despite a free standing fan. Adding small fridges would have very helpful.
In comparison with more modern chain hotels there is the benefit of outside space and helpful and friendly staff. The room was very clean, but overall the hotel needs significant investment following which it would justify higher room rates.

My sister and I have tried a few hotels in the area - and finally we have found you guys. The hotel sits in a very good quiet setting. Both of us live far away but still have family connections here. The staff are excellent, professional and above all else friendly and approachable. Special mention to Pawel, Alex, Ela, Maria and Michelle and not forgetting the "back of house" staff that make this hotel a pleasure.
One of us did book an executive suite (with hob, microwave, fridge etc) with a view to cooking a few nights but the bar service was attentive and the food lovely so we "caved" and just enjoyed ourselves. The evening before we left, Alex already knew our preferred drinks order and my deep hatred of tomatoes.
