Our luxury hotel is the perfect place to rest, unwind and enjoy the elegance and serenity of a traditional English country house, with 21st century standards of service and care.
The manor of Farlam is written about as far back as 1428 but one of the first mentions of a "manorial house" in the area is in 1579. However the house that you see today is the work of a family called Thompson who did most of the alterations around 1824 and 1860. They created a house for their family and friends in an era of extreme wealth and privilege.
High ceilings, impressive opulent decor and calming views over the ornamental lake and fountain make the Cedar Tree Restaurant at Farlam Hall the perfect place to enjoy a fine dining experience. Newly renovated and restored, our dining area is light, airy and welcoming, a place to dine in a relaxed atmosphere with friends and loved ones.

Simply outstanding, Myself and my wife stayed there for a couple of nights this week. We both had a wonderful time, fabulous food, lovely room but what I think makes a great hotel is its staff they were wonderful you were treated like one of the family always chatting to us and showed interest in all its guests including us. We asked if we could come again and they said yes, we will revisit as some point, but one of the highlights was the tasting menu with the different wines, well what can I say one of the best meals I've ever had, simply fabulous!

Coming back from Alston yesterday after some 'Jubilee celebrations' we decided to pop into 'Farlam Hall' for some tea and cake. Great decision, as it was a lovely experience. The hotel is stunning in every respect, inside and outside. Special mention goes to Sandra who greeted us and made us feel really welcome and also to Ophelia and Charlotte who were also excellent in their serving to us some fantastic lemon cake and cookies with our tea. All three members of staff who dealt with us were very professional and are obviously very skilled in hospitality.

Booked Afternoon Tea for my wife's birthday via Groupon. Beautiful grounds, immaculate presentation throughout all areas we saw. Excellent service throughout from the booking confirmation to the greeting at the door and friendly professional service during the lovely afternoon tea. Lovely table setting and gorgeous food. Absolutely would recommend. Would have happily paid the full price.

So glad we found this hotel. immaculate rooms, attentive and thoughtful staff. We booked the tasting menu for dinner. Each course was a beautifully presented culinary work of art, perfectly cooked with balanced exquisite flavours. Superb! Excellent wine list. Spoilt for choice at breakfast! Great selection, excellent local produce. A fantastic place to stay for a relaxing or romantic break or for exploring the local area. Easy access to the A69 including Hadrians Wall. We'll definitely be rebooking! We had an absolutely perfect stay.

Sunday lunch - excellent, superb service, beautiful surroundings & lovely meal. A few minor additions would have been great - ie. children's portions, bread on the table & perhaps a choc with the coffee? Just suggestions as we were more than happy with the visit & will go again. Thank you to the staff who were so helpful & friendly - what a difference it makes.

Our stay couldn't have been more perfect. Our room was upgraded and was amazing with a beautiful bathroom and luxurious bedroom. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. After enjoying drinks in the bar we had the tasting menu which was sublime.everything was delicious. Highly recommend staying here if you want to be spoilt.

Refined, Quiet, Extremely relaxing. Just what we needed. Brilliant base for exploring Hadrians Wall if you wish to build up an appetite for the excellent restaurant. We stayed an extra night just to eat more food. Recently changed hands and redecorated. We can't wait to come back, certainly must be the best hotel in the area for a relaxing/romantic break. Well done all the staff at Farlam Hall for making our stay an excellent one. Thank you.

Lovely hotel, great standard. Staff were excellent and friendly. Issues- no alcohol as previous management hadn't renewed licence but still ludicrous for such a high standard hotel. We could and did take our own wine in to have with the meals. Also no kettle for tea making in room, covid blamed but coffee maker in room. The evening meals were excellent, expensive but were a very high standard.

Delightful stay at Farlam. Very friendly and relaxed service and environment. Breakfast did taste exceptional as was the food from the a la carte. Taster menu was mixed and some more work and consistency required in both service and the menu design. The rooms are great, we stayed in a junior suite, really spacious and well thought out. This place would make a great base to explore the surrounding areas.

Had afternoon tea after the third lockdown and it really was lovely. The lounge was beautiful, spacious and really comfy. The food was incredible - the cakes were so clever and well balanced. The services was amazing, attentive but not hovering. It was a really great experience and we will do it again.
