Terrible stay - I could happily say this is the worst hotel I've stayed in. Stayed one night in a single room, damp in the bathroom that stunk and a room the size of a thimble. Had to stay another night so booked a double room, which was somewhat cleaner than the previous room. but had cockroaches running around everywhere. Staff shrug it off and claim they'll get to it but is obviously a recurring problem as proven by previous reviews. Don't stay here - I would have walked straight out if I hadn't already paid and if I hadn't been at work all day. Only redeeming benefit is it's location

Awful stay! Booked a trip down to London for my birthday with some friends. When we checked into the hotel, the air-conditioning was not working so it was boiling hot and that's fine, I get that those things happen. When we went to our rooms, it was filthy, the bed was broken, there was rubbish and the toilet were not cleaned properly and the room smelt horrible.
We asked to change rooms but were rudely told they were fully booked (staff were rude to use the entire stay). We had booked 4 rooms and all 4 were in similar conditions. We eventually managed to speak to Mr Kumar, the Cromwell manager and he apologised and said he would refund us for our stay and to apply for it (which we did on the spot). For a full 2 months we called him multiple times asking for the status of our refund and he just brushed us off. Horrible place. Would never recommend staying here.

The room is fine, not clean. There is a stench in the hotel which is unpleasant. Service is slow to non existent, and lack of responsiveness during booking too. Location is amazing, walking distance to three museums, three tube stations, many many bus stops and good food all around. But I would say, there are many better hotels out there around the region. If you really just want a room, regardless of the hospitality, this is right for you.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. You are better off and will be happier in a hostel. This place is not at all what is advertised in the photos you see on the website. It's dilapidated and dirty. There is no mattress cover for the bed, the pillows are old and flat, you get two towels and won't get any more. No washcloths. No one will visit your room to change out the toilet paper, towels, or bedding.
The showers are clogged and don't drain. The staff won't even look up at you when you address them. It was quite literally freezing in our hallway because there was a HOLE IN THE WALL which opened up directly to the outside. You might pay for the breakfast option but they don't actually have breakfast. This place should probably be shut down.

Just awful, the pillows had yellow stains, with no pillowslips. The lift only went halfway up the hotel. It's not a hotel, at best a bad hostel. The shower only half sprayed, and at the shelf underneath it, the bracket was also broken, had to take the shower off to give myself a manual shower. No towels in any of the rooms, place was that vile I went out and purchased one. Just shocking

I wish I could put none stars. My girlfriend and I decided to go for a trip Of one night to London and we chose this hotel because of the location and price. Just coming into the hotel, a strong bad smell came up to our noses. They checked in us and we went to our room. NEVER BEEN IN A DISGUSTING ROOM AS THAT, NEVER! I took even pictures of every site of that room.
The mattress was moldy, a chair extremely dirty, hair on the shower, old materials in general and bad smell everywhere you go. We said to spend the night but when we lay on the bed an itchy sensation appears in all our body, so we decided to find another hotel and lost the 45 as not being refundable. Obviously we complained and told them politely that the cleaning was poorly and everything in general a mess.
They response were that they will clean it immediately in front of us but we refused due those are not conditions for a room, it's literally attempting with the public health. And we are not being picky, we are students, we don't have enough money, we understand is a low hotel but that doesn't mean that cleaning has to be poorly. They said that they would give us 20 but we never received, we don't know if it would be by card but we decided to get a new hotel and pay more rather than staying uncomfortable for that night and the smell.
I'd never come back there, and I don't recommend to ANYONE to go, it is 100% worthy spend a bit more money to other hotels that you really know and it's sure that they really care about cleaning.

I've stayed in cleaner hostels to be honest. When we arrived, the guy on reception said we had to take a seat and wait for his colleague because he couldn't check us in and 10 mins later a man walks through the front door and checks us in. I think my pictures detail the experience well, a cockroach, 1 cup but no kettle, a pillow that used to be white, a broken toilet seat, a man gave us a business card and said use this to keep the power on, a corner bed, a stain on the sideboard, a shower that only has 1 temperature - scolding and a mattress so springy and uncomfortable that I'm not sure I slept that night, the only hotel still using keys to open the doors, the aircon only does cold and we paid 50 for the pleasure. If you're just arriving in the UK, stay somewhere else because this doesn't represent English hotels.

Two stars for the location and I did find the staff at the reception friendly, but then it stops there. I left after the second night without getting the last night refunded, I wasn't able to sleep because I was freezing so much and the fire alarm kept going off at night too. The heating didn't work and there are no blankets or extra duvets available - not great if you are staying in a basement room during winter.
It was not the cleanest of places and there was a strange smell in the room, but for the price that was okay. It would take very little to make the hotel much more pleasant for the guests.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The website is a lie. I wish I could give 0 stars. We picked this hotel due to needing it last minute, the price and its close proximity to the Royal Marsden for my mother-in-laws emergency surgery today (22.12.21). We stayed there last night (21.12.21) and it was the worst hotel experience we've ever had. On arrival we overheard another guest explaining his door wouldn't lock when he left and another saying their heating was off.
We got to our room and the list of issues continued to grow. The wardrobe was hanging off on one hinge, there was no kettle, the heating didn't work and the room was freezing. The room was filthy (we found items such as corks, plastic cups and rubbish under the beds) there was mould all over the bathroom taps etc, on the windows and the walls. There was also only one towel for four of us.
I went to ask about the heating and was told the 'handyman would come soon'. I was given a heater (that didn't work) and a kettle that was warm and full of water, plus 3 more towels (which were given reluctantly). When half an hour later the handyman hadn't appeared I went and asked again to be told the heating was on but they would up the temperature to 28c.
I asked for another 2 duvets but they would only give one. When the man from the front desk brought the extra duvet I should him the cupboard to which he just said "oh, that's bad" and he assured me the heating was on. The room smelled of sewage and even my four year old said the room smelled of poo. We decided to stay because we felt there was no other choice. An awful night due to the smell, noise and cold.
Some random guest hammered on the door at 1045pm. I told him to go away. Fortunately, the next morning we spoke to the holiday inn and they had a room. We then left as soon as we could the next day to take my mother-in-law to hospital. This hotel is a health hazard and should be avoided at all costs. Advice - pay the extra for somewhere else.

Overall, you cannot beat the value and the location is very good. That being said, the rooms are very basic, hygiene and general cleanliness is very questionable, and having stayed here for perhaps for one night a week for 6 weeks, I can say that the mattresses are not at all comfortable. I would suggest that guests really do manage their expectations when booking this hotel.
If you just need a place to crash for the night, then you should be able to look past the above matters. However, this is not a recommended hotel for an extended period of time. I was also double charged for one night and despite me contacting the hotel on several occasions, I have yet to hear anything in regards to a refund.
