Bay Horse Hotel The Bay Horse Ulverston Hotel is a traditional, comfortable coaching inn with a friendly and courteous team who will go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. Dogs are more than welcome as are cyclists, walkers, anglers, golfers and birdwatchers. The Bay Horse offers safe storage for cyclists bikes. With regards to the food served here we use the very best of meat, fish and poultry, no nouvelle cuisine here, the MAIN course meaning just that!

The Bay Horse is very much a home, Robert Lyons and Lesley Wheeler have been hosts for over 35 years and it has become a well- loved place for so many reasons, whether it be for Special Celebrations or Parties, a simple sandwich in the bar, a casual lunch or just our very own Home Made Ice Cream Cones for the children to take away, The Bay Horse has something for everyone and is very accessible.
Services
Nine en-suite bedrooms are available in the house, six of these have French windows out on to a terrace, giving the full panoramic view over the estuary (a bird watchers paradise). Each room is individually decorated and furnished and contains masses of magazines, books and board games, along with all the facilities one would expect to provide a 'home from home'.
Lunch is served daily in The Conservatory Restaurant 12-2pm (except Mondays) and in the bar for those wishing to dine with their dogs (Bookings are only taken for the Conservatory). We can reserve tables in the bar till 12.30pm, but after this time it is first come, first served, but we guarantee to serve everyone who arrives within the published service times (don't worry, we will find you a table somewhere). Dinner is served between 6.30 for 8.00pm in the candlelit Conservatory or in the bar with your dog.
Everything you want to know about them is in the museum. South Lakes Safari Zoo is home to over 1,000 of the rarest and most endangered animals in unique natural environments which enable you to get as close as physically possible to experience the amazing creatures with which we share our planet. Wander amongst kangaroos, wallabies, and emus.
Travellers by Road, from the North and South, should leave the M6 at junction 36 and take the A590 signposted to Barrow-in-Furness. On entering ULVERSTON take the left hand turn, signed to CANAL FOOT and continue to the end of this road. Take the next signed left hand turn following the lane until you reach the Bay Horse.

Excellent light lunch for me but some pieces of shell in crab sandwiches, so not for others.

First visit and it won't be the last. Very nice food (chosen from several options on the separate vegetarian menu). Not your average 'pub' menu at all and presentation was excellent. Conservatory seat so very lovely views to look at whilst seated. Well kept cellar too.

Great food and polish waiter was a great laugh through out the service, unfortunately Tring to get at taxi back to ulverston is as hard as getting blood from a stone.

Nice walk down the canal to this pleasant pub. Bar food always good with roaring fire when cool. Any place with view of morecambe bay would get my vote and this place does.

Popped in on a Saturday evening for some drinks with friends as they were staying in the accomodation. Cheap drinks and the pub is warm and cosy. We would probably return to try the food next time.

Lovely friendly atmosphere, great service and fantastic food, including wonderful warm home made rolls with your dinner, such as sundried tomato and basil, or black olive and feta. Also dog friendly as well. Our little chap made himself very comfy as you can see!

Had a great evening dinner with my family on Christmas eve including our dog. Very dog friendly place. Old fashioned with the addition off a Conservatory looking over to the sea. Nice and pleasant staff.

Went here one quiet week day night with my partner and dogs. We were seated in the bar area as the dog friendly bit, we had a fantastic meal, food was very good, I had a steak it came perfectly cooked to my liking & was served with tasty hand made chips & some equally tasty (I think leak rings) which were delicious, we both had puddings which were also good!

The staff were very good and friendly. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but the food was good so we didn't mind paying abit more. We'll be back on another special occasion
