The Atholl Palace The Scottish Highlands, wild and rugged, have a timeless magical quality. At their very heart, where the River Tummel flows to the Tay, sits the historic small town of Pitlochry. The Atholl Palace Hotel, the epitome of Scottish Baronial splendour, stands overlooking wooded parkland grounds and the town to the surrounding hills.

We were greeted with a drink, something sweet and a piece of chocolate. Our bags were immediately brought to the room. The bed was a little soft and the pillows were very comfortable. The room was a little small but manageable. The breakfast was like all the others. I wish there had been scones. The coffee was delicious and you could get cappuccinos. It is a really nice hotel.

Stayed over here for a couple of nights to attend a wedding. We had a fairly good size room with a good size ensuite (we did poke our heads around doors where cleaners were cleaning and they weren't so big). Atholl Palace grounds are beautifully well kept. The staff here are brilliant with their customer service. There's a small gym, tennis courts and spa within however the sauna wasn't working when we were there.

Breakfast was included in our stay and there's a good selection of foods. Overall the place could do with updating, that being said there's a lot of history within the walls. Free parking on site.

Nice place. Lots of history. Friendly staff. OK walks near and around the place. Need some maintenance in places. Currently going through some renovations here and there so can't fully judge. Still a nice breakaway. Little on the expensive side for drinks etc. For what your getting. Definitely visit again but only on special occasions for me.

This is a stunning looking hotel for weddings but this is where it ends. The rooms are over priced for what they are. The restaurant only had two sittings in an evening and service is very fast, 3 courses end to end in 1 hour. Not very relaxing. We visited as we were married here 20 years ago, little has changed other than the room rates. At 598 for 2 nights in a superior room I would expect a higher standard. Disappointing.

No receptionist on welcome, abrupt customer service, food that's been reheated in the oven, severely overpriced drinks and stay - very disappointing. Bathroom light wouldn't turn off wasting energy (not great for a self-proclaimed "Green" hotel). Not worth the money you spend and we will be asking for a refund.

What more can you say, it's a palace. The hotel and grounds were exceptional. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond for us. The food at the restaurant and bar was terrific. Everyone seemed genuinely pleased that we (and all the other guests) were there.

Lovely setting, beautiful place and Staff lovely Down sides there was no soap in any if the toilets. In the side toilet beside private room or in any on the toilets in the lodge bathrooms. Toilet in lodge broken and no one appeared to fix it after reported. Lack if toilet roll. Alcohol prices quite steep

My daughter and I had a drive up. She has booked her wedding here and wanted to show me. I wasn't disappointed. Beautiful hotel and venue. Decided to stay and have some lunch. Amazing food and amazing service in the bar. I couldn't finish my meal as too much for me. I would highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed a one night stay with dinner and breakfast included. Beautiful hotel, with stunning views and grounds to wander around. Our room was lovely, really spacious and very clean. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic too. Look forward to returning in the near future.

2 night break between Christmas and New Year in a valley room with a stunning view. Food was fab but braised steak on first night was superb. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Added bonus of live music on both evenings.

Lovely hotel to visit, even when not staying there. The bar is stylish and relaxed. Afternoon tea was plentiful and delicious with friendly service. Amazing views and history. Museum and Spa onsite to and golf not far.

Wonderful few nights. Check in was quick and easy. Room was cosy and comfortable. Restaurant staff were quick and friendly, food was very good, breakfast excellent. Lovely to sit around the open fires. Gym small but has enough to work out. Museum worth a look. Grounds great for walkers.

It was fine. Our room was spacious. The grounds are gorgeous. The food was ok. Biggest negative is that this location seems to be a popular stop for charter bus tours. A couple of different tours with retirees came through during our stay. Took away from the charm but otherwise was a solid 3 stars.

Very disappointing. No porterage, not being given the accommodation requested, no fridge or mini bar. The bedroom suite requested was not provided, floor creaky, wardrobe door would not stay closed. The hotel tried to overcharge us on a number of occasions the staff seemed to be aware of this when challenged. The hotel staff were made aware that this was a special occasion ( our golden wedding anniversary) this was spoiled by the hotels treatment of us. We will definitely not be back and would advise anyone to avoid this place.

Met close but distant family there for lunch we had a lovely afternoon the food was excellent. I would like to congratulate the management on their choice of waiting staff we were in the Stags Head lounge area it was busy only one staff member in attendance serving the bar taking meal orders and waiting on tables, she was amazing in a friendly cheery manner. We were a vegan, gluten free and eat anything crowd she coped with 12 of us + 6 kids from 4years to 15 years with aplomb well done that girl.

I had booked this hotel as Birthday treat, on arrival we were met with beautiful grounds and an idyllic old building, so far so good, we visited the bar, bought a few glasses of wine and charged to the room, unknown to us it was 11 a glass, for very average wine. The food was well below par, beef and roasted veg/potatoes were dry, and hard, the pudding was no better than school style, custard slapped into the bowl, second night fish was overcooked.

The breakfast was poor, overcooked, eggs were solid, and just messy and lacked quality. The room was a double and was basic and not at the level of other hotels visited, you cannot advertise yourself as 4 star for the ratings bodies then operate at a 2 star level. The staff we encountered were pleasant enough, however we won't be returning to this venue, overpriced and definitely not 4 star. AM

Beautiful hotel and lovely surroundings, We stayed for dinner and breakfast over 3 nights. We had a beautiful room in one of the corners of the building. Amazing views. I have noticed some people commenting and moaning about creaking floors in the hotel. Please remember this hotel is over 100 years old the building is stunning and has alot more character than most modern hotels. Can't wait to return.
