The Dundarach Hotel is in the beautiful Highland Perthshire town of Pitlochry, standing on high ground overlooking the Tummel valley and across to the river and Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Set in a couple of acres of private grounds, the accommodation is peaceful, yet just 2 minutes from the centre. Originally a wine merchant's house, built in the 1860's, the Dundarach became a hotel in 1936.
The traditional atmosphere has been carefully retained in the main part of the building without compromising the level of comfort and service you expect from your hotel, there is also a new wing of spacious modern bedrooms.

Services
Pitlochry, the unique pretty highland town of Pitlochry is still very much the way it was 100 years ago. Stone built buildings with steep roofs, all different to each other. Bags of open space all around. Take a stroll along the main street, with it's covered arcades, quite individual. The Loch, the Cuilc pond, the mill lade, feel the magical atmosphere around the water.

Stayed 3 nights from 29th April 2022. Could not fault the stunning hotel, massive room with scenic view, quiet but central location, friendly staff, fab food and general welcome! Nothing is too much trouble for the family who run and our 4 poster bed was so comfortable we wanted to bring it home! Pitlochry is beautiful, with so many quaint shops and eateries, the surrounding walks are breathtaking and well worth the effort! Would stay again!

Old fashioned Hotel, needs a bit of work done to it. They were doing work in one of the lounges as there was stepladders and workers stuff in it when we were there. Our room was in the 'new' wing, it was OK. Breakfast wasn't anything to talk about and on our first morning we were the only people in the dining room! Hotel was very quiet although lots of other hotels in the area were full (that's why we had to stay there).
Dinner at the restaurant was very basic so we decided not to eat there. Bar/lounge closed at 10pm to residents, and there was a 3.50tray charge to your room for glasses and ice. Don't think we'd go back to this hotel and for a couples break I wouldn't recommend it. We had meals and drinks in town and so can highly recommend Mackays and Victoria's for food and drinks.

This is a lovely traditional, family run hotel. Comfortable bedrooms, very good food all in a superb location. Pitlochry is charming little town in the middle of beautiful scenery, plenty of walking and interesting places to explore. The town like most in the UK has suffered from the pandemic but the town is going full out to rebuild it's tourist economy.
Easy stroll to shops, railway station and amenities and attractions from the Dundarach Hotel. Popular with old and young and all guaranteed a warm welcome. Truly recommended.

We had a very big room in the Annexe with a beautifully proportioned en suite shower room with ample shower gels, shampoos etc. There were numerous comfortable chairs and a side table as well as a larger dressing table with a TV on it. Bedside tables and a large comfortable bed, single bed and pull out guest bed completed the room. The outlook was to the rear garden with some chairs and tables suitably distanced from one another.
We chose to have our evening meals as well as breakfast at the hotel. There was a good choice for breakfast, ordered there and then and a preordered dinner menu, which varied daily. The wine list was ample and the bar appeared well stocked. Everyone was very polite and did their utmost to ensure guests were welcomed and well looked after throughout their stay. Wildlife was plentiful in the garden with a family of deer popping up to visit every day.
Resident pheasants too made a regular appearance. The car park is spacious, but there is no charging point for an electric vehicle, nor are there many such points in Pitlochry at this time, which is a great pity. There are many great spaces to explore and hills to climb for the more adventurous. We are both looking forward to our next visit to this lovely family run hotel.

My partner and I stayed here 3 nights in September 2020 for the cost of 383 including breakfast. This hotel has the potential to be quite spectacular but at the moment I would say it's lack lustre and overpriced for the service you receive. Pros: The staff are friendly and the area where it is situated is gorgeous, it seems family run which gives it more appeal than just staying in a chain hotel, the exterior of the building is quite pretty and from the dinning room you get some lovely views. Cons: The food really needs an update- the breakfast menu to start is very limited for vegetarian options, due to Covid you have to place your order the night before which is completely understandable however despite stating very clearly on our breakfast order form that I didn't want eggs because I was vegetarian, every morning I would receive eggs.
The portion size is also to be noted as well, the breakfast you receive has hardly anything on the plate, especially if requesting a vegetarian option. We had dinner once at the hotel and I would not recommend, the starter I ordered was goats cheese and tomato salad, what I got instead was a triangle of the soft salad cheese that you get in the supermarket, my partner ordered salmon as it is a speciality of the area but was hugely disappointed in the dried out fish in front of him and again there was only one vegetarian option on the dinner menu, I had a vegetarian lasagna and it was mostly cold and I can guarantee it was one of those microwave meals, was very disappointing considering that the meal totalled to over 60 for food we did not enjoy.
There is many hotels in the area so this hotel really needs to up its game if they want us to be returning customers, it is 2020, only having one vegetarian option is unacceptable and that too was a microwave meal. The decor- This hotel hasn't been updated probably since the mid 20th century, if you are looking for a hotel just to sleep in then I would say this place is fine.
If you like to have a hotel experience with nice decor and more modern feel then I would definitely say go elsewhere. The architecture is lovely however some investment is needed to update the interior if this hotel wants to compete with the local hotels of the area or they will be struggling. The room- We paid for a double room which was spacious, king/super king bed was a highlight.
The bathroom was subpar and what I cannot forgive is out toilet seat was wooden and was cracked, only discovered this once getting up from the toilet as I had cut my thigh on this cracked seat and had splinters. The room just needs an over all update to the lighting, floor and walls as it feels very gloomy. My overall consensus is that I would not stay here again unless they made some big changes.
I would expect a better experience for how much we had paid. Understandably it has been a hard year for this industry and the rest of the world, however a lot of these issues have no relevance to covid-19.

We spent three nights here and only have positive things to say about it. The owners are very nice friendly people and will try to accommodate most residents request. Set in a beautiful location, it the perfect place for a relaxing break. The rooms have everything you'd reasonably need and a big plus was that there were three chairs in total in each room which gets a big thumbs up from me. The food was of a very high standard. I recommend this hotel. Good value for money.

Really can't fault this hotel. Was one of the best hotels we have stayed in with our young child. It wasn't fancy but the room was extremely spacious (4 poster room) with a huge bathroom and incredibly comfy bed. The service was extremely friendly. We were greeted by a nice lady at the desk who conversed well with our son, but it was during breakfast that we were shocked by how nice everyone was.
The first staff member welcomed us and pointed us to the direction of the dining room where three staff members greeted us at the table and had set up the child high chair very kindly for us. They also kindly kept milk in the fridge for us. The view from the bathroom was strangely spectacular and the cot was good quality and clean. Come to think of it, the only thing we would fault is the menu for dinner didn't particularly inspire us with its price. It would probably be good for a nice night in the hotel but we were after comfort food for a night in our room with our sleeping toddler. We will be back!

Pretty shabby old place in need of major cash injection. It says it all when the en suite facilities such as they were, didn't have matching porcelain fittings. Evening meal was a curry which appeared to be a well known manufacturer's sauce from a jar was somewhat cheekily priced and certaily lacked any special talent to produce, chef! I doubt it.
Only one beer on draught but issues with the keg meant it took 10 minutes to pour and he reulting pint was warm and flat. The only saving grace was that the place was reasonably clean, other than that it was three star prices but less than one star services or facilities. Would I return? At a push but only if all the other accommodation in and around Pitlochry were full. It certainly lacked any atmosphere and certainty didn't provide anything resembling a decent welcome to my wonderful homelamd of Scotland.
