We are currently finishing upgrades and working on our new menus using our amazing Scottish larder. We are currently recruiting for new staff to join our great team so if you know of anyone who might want to experience a season on Iona please look out for our adverts in Gumtree and Indeed.

Services
Katy, Daf, Wendy and Rob and the team welcome you to The Argyll Hotel and continue the great tradition of Hebridean hospitality. We are a small hotel and want you to feel relaxed and 'at home from home'. The hotel is a great base for you to explore and enjoy the magical island of Iona. Our staff aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible and we pride ourselves on our service and attention to detail with our guests.
The hotel dates from the 1860's so rooms are all different unique shapes and sizes; our rooms are not the biggest but they are cosy and comfortable. All our bedrooms are ensuite, except for Room 8 which has an exclusive bathroom next door. All have tea making facilities and hair-dryers. Hypo-allergenic bedding can be provided. If you have additional needs during your stay please tell us immediately and we will do everything we can to arrange things for you!
Our delicious food is served in our relaxed and friendly dining room or outside table service. Breakfast is included in our room rate. Our soup and sandwich based lunch menu offers quick service and dinner is a la carte. Booking is essential for the evening or if larger groups want to enjoy lunch. Food provenance comes first!
An organic garden has always been part of the Argyll Hotel Iona and we are fully certified by the Soil Association. The garden is situated above the hotel adjacent to the Nunnery and visible from the 'Road of the Dead' on the way to the abbey. The rich basalt soils are nourished in the traditional Hebridean way with heaps of seaweed from the beach and our own compost made from garden cuttings and recycled kitchen vegetable waste. Our chefs and gardeners work in close collaboration to decide what is planted and menu design reflects what is being harvested.

Stopped in for afternoon tea while on an island tour in September 2021 and had what I would consider the single most delicious coffee cake I've ever consumed. 10/10 adorable location, quick service, and amazing cake + coffee. My only thing is perhaps one savory offering for afternoon tea would have been nice - but that's 100% an Americanism that I can let go of.

This seven day visit was just supurb. The hotel might be called boutique, but the service and restaurant was top of the line in any measure you care to use. The owner and staff work hard to make you feel like they are only there to ensure that your stay winds up in your top 10, no matter who else is on the list. The meals were absolutely fabulous.
The meats were savory and with flavor layering so deep you tongue will question its taste buds' loyalty to your logic. The deserts always brought the meal to a 'perfect landing' every time. My only complaint? The menu wasn't 'deep enough' for a week-long stay, but that did give me the chance to retry my favorites without worrying I'd miss one.

This hotel from the outside looks picturesque, inside is very dated and lacking in atmosphere, a silent slightly miserable atmosphere, but I can't criticise the food and evening meal was delicious very well. presented. I wouldn't order the mushroom starter 10 and had literally four mushrooms, as a northerners family I'm afraid we chuckled at the lack of food on the plate. A bit of modernising in the dining area would make this 5 star restaurant definitely.

Lovely hotel, stayed with my husband for one night as a suprise for his birthday. It was lovely and clean and all the staff were very friendly. I've only got one very small complaint which was the sachets of coffee in the room. It was very hard and looked like volcanic rock when I opened it. This was resolved straight away by the staff member and new sachets were given.
We had dinner that evening and the food was good but overpriced, especially our scallop starter. I have eaten in a Michelin star restaurant for less. But as a treat it was good, thanks for your hospitality and I would stay again.
