Just a bar meal not a stay but meal felt rushed despite arriving 15 minutes early. Not convinced the beer-battered fish was fresh and it was undersized with a dozen bones in it. Underwhelming meal.

Our experience based on two visits to The Glenforsa Hotel, the first in June 2018 and the second in August 2021 is that whilst it is unique and beautifully located, the owner's attitude to customer service makes it one of the worst hotels in the country. In 2018 we had to cancel a second nights booking due to receiving news of a sudden family sickness.

We were quickly reminded of the cancellation policy and were charged for both nights in accordance with the terms and conditions. Whilst we accepted this, we noted a lack of empathy and understanding that most hotels would have shown. Returning in August 2021 we looked forward to a pleasant stay but sadly found the hotel run down and untidy. We were served one of the worst meals in our experience of dining.

In essence it centred on the presentation of two steaks that were totally inedible. On rejecting them, no apology or offer of replacement was made. At check out our efforts to discuss the matter were met with flippancy. During subsequent email exchanges the owner became increasingly malevolent in his efforts to have an original internet review removed, threatening legal action from himself, his meat supplier and chef's union. After six months of inaction this review is placed to warn others that customer service and satisfaction is not a high point of this hotel.

Over priced average food. I went to effort of trying to arrange a special meal there for my mum's 70th. It was agreed before booking we would be able to have a fresh seafood platter for the family as this was something I wanted to make the meal special. Upon arrival we were only offered the basic uninspiring bar menu and told they couldn't get seafood.

I was offered a 50 seafood platter for 2 of smoked salmon, fish pate and langoustine which I felt was over priced and not appealing at all. What should have been and was promised to be a special birthday meal turned into a very expensive boring bar meal. I was both cross and embarrassed having told my mum we were going for a special dinner. Would not recommend and would not return.

Had an evening meal here, including fish and chips. The fish tasted nice but one fillet still had a lot of bones in it and made the whole meal mediocre. The waitress said she would speak to someone but after sitting for a while it was obvious that nobody was going to follow up. In retrospect we should have just sent the food back at the first sign of the bones. You live and learn.
