What a fantastic honeymoon we have had. The staff go above and beyond, very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The food was excellent, the dining room airy, intimate with exceptional service, and attention to detail. The spa was such a relaxing, tranquil, and luxurious experience. The robes and flip flops a nice gesture, even if a little on the small side (or maybe we a little on the large side ) We had the Gin experience and would highly recommend the rhubarb gin fizz. Would definitely recommend this hotel; the location is delightful. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

We stopped en route to a charity climb at Ben Nevis to charge our electric car. After attempting other long journeys, we were delighted to have found one in perfect working condition. We entered the hotel with our two children in the hope of grabbing some breakfast and drinks. Although we were not guests, all the staff were so welcoming and served us all a fabulous breakfast!
Our five year old was delighted as when her ordered her hot chocolate, it came in a large decanter with limitless supply! The hotel and the grounds are fabulous, we will definitely be back as hotel guests! Thanks you for being so accommodating to us even though you were so busy!

Recently had a short break at the Appleby Manor hotel. Beautiful location and amazing scenery. Could be better if you were able to take a stroll round the outside with some lit paths, but once you're in the hotel, you're in. Unless you're going to drive somewhere, nowhere to go really as hotel is located right off a B road with no public footpath.
There is some outdoor seating just off of the bar area though. Some areas need a thorough clean and a better attention to detail e.g. no apparent 'high dusting' getting done in bedrooms, the seal at the bottom of the shower screen was absolutely filthy and grouting has seen better days. The bath itself was also chipped. Remote control for TV was pretty dirty looking.
The shower areas in the spa had definitely seen better days. Shower Curtains were stained and the curtain rings really rusty and just, well, plain dirty looking. Not sure the facilities available were worth the 25 a head for 2hrs, though we did enjoy the overall relaxing experience. The food pleasantly surprised us and was top class, although orders are taken in the lounge area off the bar, in front of other patrons and then you sit there until you are called through.
A bit unusual but when in Rome I suppose. Staff were all very professional, polite and helpful in directing us. We felt the dining experience could be improved if there was some music playing actually in the dining area, not just from somewhere in a galaxy, far, far away, to help drown out plates scraping and other people chomping (and other noises associated with eating!). Overall, we did enjoy the break away and the base for touring about. Not sure we would return, especially given the hefty price tag, but thank you to all the great staff for making our stay a pleasant one.

60th birthday for my wife. Lovely location. Upgraded to a garden view room which was great. Staff are warm and friendly and really helpful. Food was superb. Had the fine dinning first night and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. We visited the Bistro the second night which was 80% beef menu. Choice could be better. Quite limited but was very nice. The spa was inviting and relaxing. Bit pricey but would visit again.

Relaxing weekend Staff couldn't have been more accomodating, close to the Appleby village for a stroll away from the hotel. The Spa was very relaxing and with the 1m rule still in place it meant there wasn't over crowding which allowed a very laid back experience. Rooms looked like the bathrooms had recently been upgraded. Would recommend.

Actually enjoyed it very much despite some negative comments. It was quite a bit of money for this trip, but we both enjoyed it. The food was really good, like the lamb was so well cooked that my I-don't-like-lamb partner said he could happily finish my dish (well he preferred beef so I'm glad to say I kept my lamb dish). The spa side was good too, my partner wasn't keen on facial but he enjoyed the massage!
The outside garden pool was the best one, feeling Covid safe and refreshing! Will probably return at some point in the future. One thing is, the outside accommodation they built wasn't the best, just. feels weird.

We found the spa and room both to be excellent. Spa has everything you would expect and the room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was good but breakfast was a bit disappointing. The food was OK but I love a morning coffee. The coffee machine is only turned on at midday so no decent coffee available at breakfast. Shame because I had a Latte later in the day and is was lovely. The WiFi is almost unusable at 0.5 mbps. I needed to do some work during the stay and got better speeds via mobile connection.

The room was excellent with the garden view. Spa all you required and more very good value. For a 5* hotel restaurant staff some not up to standard reaching over you with food. Breakfast I ordered bacon egg and black pudding the egg was sent back twice as it wasn't cooked both times. The restaurant manager didn't seem bothered?

Had a great midweek break at Appleby manor. We were a group of 10 and everything was excellent. The rooms were comfortable, the food was excellent and the service was impeccable- both friendly and efficient in every respect. We enjoyed the aqua thermal journey in the spa but didn't have any treatments. A big thank you to all the staff at the hotel.
