Brackenrigg Inn

From start to finish it was an exceptional experience, service impeccable from Cedric aka David. The food was 5 star the most delicious Sunday roast we have ever had. Desert of Sticky Toffee pudding and cheeseboard was also to die for. Gordon Ramsey would be delighted. A rare gem of a place with out of the world food.

Very friendly helpful staff, only popped in to use the facilities, which were ok, the view is breath taking from the car park and bar, however the carpark is a nightmare for anyone in a wheelchair on crutches or a pushchair/pram, the entrance is impossible if you are in a wheelchair, on crutches or have a pushchair unless there are two adults and the person in the wheelchair can push themselves. I didn't eat there or stay in the rooms so haven't rated that and 3 stars is because of the entrance and the carpark struggle. Still worth a visit though.

Nothing was to much trouble for them even though they are short of staff. We've stayed here now for five years and will be going again hopefully in the future. Food and staff brilliant

I visited this pub on Saturday with my partner during a day out to Ullswater. We ordered some drinks and made a booking for dinner at 5pm later on after we had done some exploring. Upon returning to the pub we had to wait too long for staff to acknowledge us and show us to our table. Once seated I ordered Steak and chips with prawns and my partner Steak and Ale Pie with chips.

We waited over an hour for our meals and noticed while waiting that a family who had ordered after us were served first. We overheard they were guests at the Inn. So they got preferential treatment over ourselves! I was also bluntly told that ''their is no prawns left'' by a rude waiter who then walked away with no apology or bothering to ask if I wanted to change my order.

I later noticed a member of the same family had ordered exactly the same as myself and he did indeed have prawns. The food itself was below average very hard chips and my Steak came out medium when I asked for rare. My partners Pie was also quite hard to cut. I feel that the prices were too high for the poor food and service. This place pulls you into a false sense of confidence because of its beautiful surroundings.

Very pleasant place to stay. Good value for the price. Able to handle vegan and gluten free meal requests. Good local ales available.

The whole stay we had from 18/20th of February was great from start to finish. The food was excellent our room was top notch and the care of the staff was first class. An extra shout out to Amy as i left my charger for my kindle behind and after a phone call from me duly posted it back to me. Above and beyond comes to mind. You can't go wrong in booking to stay here xx

We stopped off here for a drink on the way to Aira Force Waterfall. So glad we did. It has a decent size car park, which has cracking views over Ullswater. We hit lucky and got a table out front in the sun with awesome views over Ullswater and accross through the mountains. I had my hand scope with me which we used to see the different boats on the lake and people climbing to the mountain peaks. The pub was a nice classic English pub inside with friendly staff and some decent eating areas. I wish we'd had time to stay for food as it looked and smelled really good.

Dog friendly staff were very welcoming, got my dog a bowl of water and a few treats. Good choice of ales and an open fire roaring away! Recommend

Nice room with a great view, breakfast good but evening meal choice, taste and delivery is appalling. Burger was inedible, it was so full of salt it was revolting, next night I ordered a starter only for them to say the main was ready before the starter, would I like the starter at the same time! Amateur

Terrible staff bad services! Food not good don't get a burger and chips all uncooked and maked me feel Ill! Took ages to be served and waited ages to get the food! Wouldn't recommend at all
