Windermere park is a beautiful building in an ideal position. The young couple who look after the place are lovely. Unfortunately they seem to get no help from the owners. It seems that Windermere Park is 1 of 5 hotels in a consortium. They are left to do breakfast and clean 17 rooms. That is just too much for one couple, especially when they're on minimum wage.
They need help and it shows. For 150 per night I would expect the place to be immaculate and it just isn't - it seems to me that they are rushing round to get things done on time and never get chance to do a proper deep clean - half an inch of dust on thee skirting behind the bed and mould growing in the shower cubicle is totally unacceptable. Come on management, its your business.
Take interest in the quality of your product rather than just creaming off the profit. Look after your hard working staff and get them some help so that they can raise their standards.

We stayed here for 2 nights, we were greeted by the stench of cannabis from a male member of staff, it became obvious he was smoking this in one of the rooms and leeched across all hallways. My husband was called the morning we were to travel and asked if he'd requested any extras in the room which we hadn't, he was then lectured by the gentleman mentioned above about how we'd have to visit Sainsbury's if we wanted flowers despite us not requesting these.
As others have mentioned the walls are very thin upstairs, on our first night we had a gentleman in the next room scream loudly shortly before midnight, before banging his fist or head against the wall not long after, despite us making no noise and trying to sleep. The second night there seemed to be a gathering of two rooms, with loud talking through until 1am.
The only way to contact staff is to press a button on a phone and wait, this process wasn't told to us when checking in so we weren't aware until check out when we noticed the phone had been placed on the top of the counter. We've never stayed at a hotel and felt less safe during the night. We were told that our room key also opened the front door which would mean that all room keys are universal and guests could go into other rooms if they chose to.
The hotel needs a lot of updating with rooms looking different to old photos, worn down carpets, light pouring under the door, a broken blind and toilet seat and used milk packets left in with fresh from previous guests. The only redeeming factors were the lovely ladies who served breakfast, they were both polite and had good service skills. Though dog friendly I firmly believe dogs should not be allowed to free roam the hotel when food is around.

Don't stay here. I booked two rooms for myself and family. Our room the bathroom was disgusting - mould in the grout, cracks around the bath, soap scum and toothpaste next to the sink, a toe nail still on the floor! The bedroom wasn't anything better - a stained carpet, damp & condensation on the INSIDE of the window (it dripped on my wife's hair dryer) radiators that don't work, single glazed windows that you can hear all the traffic through.
I complained to the staff (a Scouser, smelling of weed!) Who agreed with me. He said that the company wasn't prepared to invest in the hotel. A miserable place stay. In the end we didn't stay there because of the damp cold and mould and stayed elsewhere. Avoid!

Just had a 2 night stay between Christmas and New Year with family from USA. Received a warm welcome and found rooms comfortable. Breakfast was all delicious with good quality ingredients. Staff could not do enough to help. Location ideal for walking into Windermere and about a 15 minute walk to Bowness. Ideal base for.exploring the Lakes. Well recommended.
