Well located in the centre of Douglas promenade but the last two years of the pandemic have clearly taken financial toll as the building is somewhat "tired". I would advise anybody staying not to accept a room anywhere the housekeeping closet unless you enjoy being woken up at 6.30 every morning by doors banging, phones ringing and general chatting. The corridors have signs politely asking guests to be quiet in corridors, shame it doesn't ask the same if it's staff.

I'm a coach driver who brought a group of 25 to this hotel, the reception staff are all friendly the rooms clean and comfortable. However the evening meals are little more than slop! My passengers were complaining of cold food so when I got my meal the first thing was cold plates then the veg was fridge cold, several passengers sent meals back which was then brought back obviously having being reheated in the microwave, then when complained to the manager he was very rude refused to acknowledge that the food was cold and when I said I would be making a complaint to the company we booked the tour with his response was " good luck with that I will tell them the food was hot ". Shocking they need to get a better chief and sack the manager, He never once offered an apology for the cold food!

I wouldn't feed it to a dog! This wasnt the only meal that wasnt the previous night the meals weren't cold but tepid at best I tour all over the ok for my job and this without doubt is the worst food I've been served and the rudest hotel manager I've ever had the displeasure of speaking with Paul Coach tour driver

Afternoon tea for three We visited on a weekday for afternoon tea, a very generous spread with all sorts of treats! Sandwich selection could be improved and scones were a bit dry. Lovely hot chocolate and the chocolate fondue with dipping fruits and brownies was delicious! Our server was new and we had to ask for a few things but nothing was too much trouble for them and they were really friendly. Lovely view of the sea, overall probably one of the best afternoon teas available on the Island and excellent value.

The hotel was clean and central. Walking distance to centre. The room was a fair size and the bathrooms were well appointed and clean! The only issue for me was the breakfast room and the breakfast itself was average.

Lovely, spacious room (particularly appreciated the USB chargers in the room as we'd both remembered the wires for our phones but forgot the mains adapters!). Breakfast was nice and staff very friendly. Kindly looked after our suitcases until we left for the evening ferry on our day of departure so we didn't have to take them round everywhere with us! A bit of a walk from the sea terminal (at least 20 mins) but nice to walk by the sea. Well-placed for most places in Douglas. Had a great time, thank you :-)

Excellent staff, cleanliness and quality of food, only downside was as the hotel was quite full for New Year's Eve, there was no hot water in the morning. I had a lukewarm shower. I couldn't find any staff at reception to notify them of this before leaving. In addition, room 112 had a lot of noise from bedroom above; at one point I thought they might come through the ceiling!

Had a lovely few days here at low season when you might have expected a few corners to be cut or pennies saved but no sign of that at all. The common areas are beautifully kept and our room was so clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were great and the bar was always welcoming and has lovely views across the promenade and beach. The live music is a nice touch.

We had one dinner in and that was great quality for the price. And all the staff were both competent and friendly. Would give six stars if I could, the Empress is great value.

We were lucky to have the sea view of our hotel room. Breakfast was tasty and plenty of choices. Our room was great and clean and we were spoilt to have a few towels decoration by the housekeeping especially with it being my birthday. Had a couple of evenings meal on the bar side which was adequate for our needs. Thank you

Unable to take my planned trip due to the Global Covid 19 pandemic. I had plans for a party of 5 to tour 4 countries. Every other hotel volunteered to cancel and refund their customers. without me even initiating the request. This lone hotel will be keeping all $973 of my funds. A wholly inhuman response for something entirely out of my control but completely within their control to resolve. You're keeping this expecting mother's money knowing good and well you did nothing to earn it.

We spent a few days in this hotel while visiting the Isle of Man. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Douglas and hard to miss. Look for the most lighted hotel! They offer a free breakfast including fresh pastries, fresh fruit, beans, eggs, sausage, black pudding and more! Served from 630 am to 10 am. Served downstairs. The old burger restaurant used to be served there.

The rooms are suitable for 2 to 3 people. A bit on the smaller size however our bathroom was larger. They also have tea and coffee available in the room with a biscuit. Enjoy the ocean views for dinner at The Brassiere hotel with their wide selection of food options. My favorite meal was the medallion of beef with roasted vegetables. This flavorful dish with a dauphinoise potatoes and peppercorn sauce is amazing! After dinner, enjoy a drink or two at the piano bar with a pianist playing a variety of songs.

I stepped into this hotel and stepped back the years, its a lovely light and warming reception, a little twee with the plastic jazz singer but its all part of the overall charm. Beer was good, but never had chance to try the food. Room was small and opened onto other rooms so a lack of air circulating made the room warm. The room was small but had everything I needed.

I only paid 70 a night including breakfast (which I never had) so seemed good value. Compared it to the Best Western and it looked externally better at half the price. So close to the ferry terminal you could walk it.
