The Crown Hotel rests on the edge of the river Stour in the rich heartland of Dorset. This elegant 18th century coaching house rose from the ashes of the original Crown Inn following the disastrous fire of 1731. Today of course, the hotel offers our guests and passing visitors every comfort they would come to expect and we're proud to support this with a level and quality of service from days gone by.

Great place inside and out. A quick walk around outside gives a good feel for the place before going inside The interior and galleries are worth at least an hour though younger children might find it a little boring. The gift shop offers the usual themed stuff and the cafe is clean but isn't too pricey. Party dog friendly in that they are allowed in the conservatory but not the castle proper. There are some parking spaces in adjoining streets but these fill quickly. The nearest easy car park is adjacent to the information centre a few minutes walk away.

We visit Bude on a regular basis, for some unknown reason we have never been inside the Castle at Bude. Well, we did today and what can I say, an absolutely fantastic, informative and interesting place to visit. Full of history and memorabilia. Spotlessly clean. Fantastic cafe with stunning views, and free entry! Thanks to all the volunteers for this fantastic place to visit in the middle of stunning Bude
