In 1775 when Bonnie Prince Charlie was wandering the countries of Europe in exile, the Inn that was to become The Royal Hotel was built in the Highland Village of Comrie, on the site of an earlier tavern, in the area known as Strathearn. The area was no stranger to the Prince, and Comrie, originally Gaelic speaking, has played host to other larger than life figures including: Robert the Bruce, Rob Roy McGregor, Robert Burns and Queen Victoria - whose stay bestowed the name of The Royal Hotel on Comrie major coaching inn.
Services
Bestowed it's name by Queen Victoria this charming small hotel nestles in Comrie, near Crieff amidst the splendor of Strathearn and the Southern Scottish Highlands. Lovingly restored by its owners in 1996 with the aim of creating "a beautiful, intimate, small hotel in Scotland", this really is the place for that special break.
It was Queen Victoria's stay here that bestowed the name of The Royal and today the Hotel is still fit for a Queen with it's delightful hotel accommodation in Scotland. All our bedrooms have been individually designed, and continue the stylish, elegant, charming ambience for which The Royal is well known.
The Royal is justly proud of its reputation for running a noted Perthshire restaurant as well as a hotel. Our style is simply to allow the food to do the talking. Good fresh ingredients; many sourced locally, allied to sound cooking techniques give delicious classic dishes with a modern twist. The superb quality of the food has not gone unnoticed, with the Hotel consecutively holding an AA rosette award for the past twenty years.

Came to dine late for my birthday with my partner. The atmosphere is lovely on a quiet day and we were served delicious meals (butternut and kale strudel and reeeaaally good fish and chips). They even sang happy birthday with some candles in lovely wee Madeleines and it was the perfect end to an amazing birthday. Massive thanks to Sarah and Mark our servers for being so lovely. 10/10 will be dining here again.

We arrived and 3 hours later the power went off because of the storm. Sarah and the staff on duty were amazing. They made sure we all had lanterns in our rooms, lit the bar with candles and served us whatever food they could manage. Met some lovely people and the wine flowed. Can't wait to return to enjoy the extensive menu usually on offer.

11 off us went for a meal for my wife's birthday. We had a great night. Staff were really nice and very good at their jobs. And the food was just delicious nicest meal out I've had in a long time and everyone in our group thought the same they all loved the food. Next time we are in Comrie will defiantly be going back for a meal. Very reasonable price as well.
