Overlooking the town of Tain - the historic and oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland, Carnegie Lodge Hotel enjoys the benefits of a countryside outlook while only a ten minute walk from the town centre. Tain itself lies on the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth, in Easter Ross. The area is reputed to have the lowest average rainfall in Scotland.
Sitting on the A9 trunk road leading north through Inverness and all the way up to Wick in Caithness, Tain is well situated to be used as a central staging post for daily tourist trips around the north and west.

Not sure where to start. Reviews normally manage to find at least one fault. I can't find any. If only all small local hotels were as good as this one, reviews would be unnecessary. My arrival was as though I was a regular visitor (my first visit). The room was perfect and spotless and even before I arrived, I'd already been sent the menu and arranged a time for my evening meal.
When my dinner was served (exactly at the time I'd asked for), it was perfect I can't describe it any better. Hot, plentiful and delicious. I really wish I had a good reason to pass this way more often. Thanks.
