Carnegie Lodge Overlooking the town of Tain - the historic and oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland, Carnegie Lodge Hotel enjoys the benefits of a countryside outlook while only a ten minute walk from the town centre. Tain itself lies on the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth, in Easter Ross. The area is reputed to have the lowest average rainfall in Scotland.

Sitting on the A9 trunk road leading north through Inverness and all the way up to Wick in Caithness, Tain is well situated to be used as a central staging post for daily tourist trips around the north and west.

Not sure where to start. Reviews normally manage to find at least one fault. I can't find any. If only all small local hotels were as good as this one, reviews would be unnecessary. My arrival was as though I was a regular visitor (my first visit). The room was perfect and spotless and even before I arrived, I'd already been sent the menu and arranged a time for my evening meal.

When my dinner was served (exactly at the time I'd asked for), it was perfect I can't describe it any better. Hot, plentiful and delicious. I really wish I had a good reason to pass this way more often. Thanks.

Outstanding level or service from the hostess Heather. Food is absolutely incredible and it is such a shame they are not yet able to feed anybody other than guests. Recommending this place to friends and family that is for sure.

Stay here often whilst on business and it's my favourite place to stay when working away. Food is top class and the owners really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome!

A useful stopping off place. Motel style. Tasty food - portions very generous. Too big for us, no room for pudding. Owners very efficient and attentive. Noting too much trouble, finding including charging the electric car if needed.

Fabulous hotel. We were greeted with a prompt and warm welcome. The room was really generously sized as was the bathroom. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The hotel owners and staff were amazing. The food was sumptuous with generous portions. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Carnegie Lodge is a pleasant down to earth eatery. We had great starters & main courses. Good portion sizes. The sweets are homemade but were not to our taste. I recommend this place and would go again.
