I had to search rescue from a pretty nasty storm on my John o'Groats walk. I did not feel capable of setting up a tent in the storm after a 45 km march. The Eagle was the first place I came across and luckily there was one last room free - the family room. I got it for a discounted price which was still way over my self-imposed budget - but the room was not only big, but very nicely furnished and had a modern bathroom.

I felt I did the right thing every time I turned around during the night and heard the storm hammering at the windows. The window is actually not very windproof, but the radiator worked well The breakfast was delicious with all possible options - I skipped the full Scottish breakfast but the scrambled eggs with bacon and muesli etc were brilliant, as well. Ah, the night before I had dinner in their pub which was also good - pub food. Staff is super friendly and helpful. If it is in your budget, very much recommend.

Great place for a pub meal. We had an evening meal - steak and ale pie with tatties and veg. It's pub grub, very friendly, excellent service. Best to book.

Lovely atmosphere, not to busy, more of a formal approach in that you are seated and everything is brought to you, that being said there is a table closer to the bar. Had the soup of the day and Roast Pork dinner, both my wife and did enjoy it, the wife had the Nachos to start. The food was quick to be delivered and very tasty.

If you're looking for good food, good ale and just nice friendly staff then you found it. Steak and ale pie was spot on, plenty of meat, nice gravy and chips crispy. Well priced as well. Certainly be returning on our travels.

Decent family pub/restaurant. We had dinner and the food was good old fashioned food, nothing to fancy which was exactly what we wanted. All fairly priced and good service. Nice place for a bar meal

I stayed here while WALKING the North Coast 500 to raise awareness for men's mental health and baby loss. The staff all very friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding, folk speak of Highland hospitality and this place embodies that staying. Amanda Miller and her colleagues are amazing The room was spotless and bed very comfortably along with a modern bathroom and fantastic pressure in the shower. Maybe not relevant to most but walkers and cyclists you know lol.
