Stayed in Room 6 which featured a functional fireplace ready to be lit upon our arrival, a bath with jets and decor to match. The room was the highlight for us which made for a great stay. It exceeded our expectations and made for a memorable experiance. The Dinner and Breakfast were both good and had a variety of quality food portioned generously. Large selection of whiskey but we are not whisky drinkers however the beer and wine selection was good as well.

After spending a Weekend with family and friends for a long over due wedding cancelled due to Pandemic it was great to be back in Dornoch. The Hotel was just the perfect setting and with staff, friendly and warm they went along with the Hotel its self, warm and Friendly. Food, it was to die for, and the service was attentive and just right. The bedrooms were much like everything else, Perfect.
The weekend allowed us to explore the area for the first time in years, and I did wonder if the area had lost its family charm, but not at all. Recommend this Hotel, of course, it is still one of the Best North of Inverness.

Great Castle hotel with a roaring fireplace which to enjoy a a dram or two by. The restaurant food was excellent and the all staff friendly and provide superb service. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Room was pleasant, decor perhaps a little tired but it's a castle after all! Only negative was the room had quite thin walls so was quite noisy - neighbours/kitchen etc.

Lovely meal, comfy bed although room was dated. Lovely bar area with log fire. Also enjoyed the complimentary sherry in the room. Enjoyed breakfast which was table service. Hotel is stunning from the outside but was disappointed that inside wasnt more traditional. Dornoch is a lovely village, so pretty.

Stayed a night recently. Hotel is in a great location, very scenic. Car parking easy and convenient. Hotel room reflected the price, perfectly comfortable, clean & tidy, but not exceptional in any way. The restaurant, however, is exceptionally good. Food very accomplished, well presented & decent portions. The staff are hard working & the service is very good. Overall this is a place that deserves to succeed & I wish it every success.

Great overnight stay in the hotel. Very atmospheric, old castle bar, with lovely rooms and friendly staff. Absolutely amazing meal from the restaurant, which wasn't very cheap (compared to other local restaurants), but really worthwhile as the food was original, varied, well presented, and incredibly tasty.

We stopped for lunch today and were very happy to be allocated a table outside in the garden as we had our dogs with us. My husband ordered langoustine and my daughter ordered a gluten free classic pizza which they both enjoyed and were value for money. I however ordered the fish dish of the day which was a smoked salmon salad. Sorry but I wasn't impressed don't get me wrong the salmon was lovely but the salad was bland and boring, just a mixture of leaves with some shredded vegetables & one tomato quartered with hardly any dressing, no lemon and no offer of bread & butter.
Basically a bag of leaves with some smoked salmon on top. This uninspiring and tasteless salad cost me 18 a real rip off I felt. I would have expected to pay around half that price for what I was offered. Such a shame as it let the whole dinning experience down.

We had an very tasty lunch in the garden of the Dornoch Castle. Locally sourced ingredients, well prepared and presented by friendly staff added to a pleasant day out. Our meal was served in an attractive open air setting, under a large awning, and the generous portions of haddock and of langoustines were cooked to a turn without being overdone.
