What a fabulous visit. From the moment we walked through the front door the service was friendly and faultless, ambiance warm and comforting, and the food simply outstanding. Best Sunday lunch ever ( and I'm a bit of a Sunday lunch lover so had rather a few!). Full marks to the full team - we look forward to many more visits!

From walking in the door, to leaving a day later we were treated like royalty, what superb attentive staff, so kind and welcoming. Alistair and Tom should be very proud of their team. We had a fabulous time celebrating our dear dear friends 60 th birthday in perfect style, seated the private dining room. Goodness me the tasting menu is just superb and the wine pairing , each course and accompanying wine, described in passionate detail by Will the sommelier, ( a very knowledgeable chap ). Rooms were so comfy and quiet, and wow breakfast, a real treat to behold, again served by superb attentive and friendly staff, We will be back very soon, what a treat indeed, thank you.xxxx

The service style and quality you would expect of Rafters have transitioned seamlessly over to Riverside House. All staff are attentive, but manage to make you feel relaxed and welcome. It's a fantastic balance, and the reason we love it so much. Getting onto the food, I lack the vocabulary to do it justice. It's phenomenal. The best I have ever tasted.
We requested a vegan menu, which was creatively designed and had incredibly well balanced flavours throughout all the dishes. The knowledge and willingness from the chef to come up with this is fantastic. Combined with Al's wine pairings too, it's a unbelievable experience. Congratulations on all at Rafters. I look forward to visiting again soon!

The hotel is is an idyllic setting. Breakfast was good and extensive waitress service. slight lack of cooked vegetarian options though. The staff were excellent very helpful and caring. Negatives were wifi v slow and unobtainable on my mobile. No fridge in room. No shaver socket in bathroom although there was a toothbrush charger! The size of the room was a bit snug for the price. But great size wall mounted TV. Everywhere was very clean and the place had character. Overall i think it was overpriced for what it was.

First lunch out since lockdown ended and it was an explosion of taste all the way through. We opted for three courses as opposed to the taster menu, everything was delicious and brilliantly executed. The star for me today though was the starter of confit lamb belly. I could eat that all day. It was luxuriously succulent - a truly perfect combination of texture & taste. Faultless. Service was lovely and very friendly. We will be back.

The Riverside is in an idyllic location nestled in beatiful gardens alongside River Wye behind a high stonewall which adds an air of peace and quiet with seclusion. The picturesque village of Ashford with its lovely stone houses provide an antidote to the busy tourist haven of Bakewell three miles away and Riverside complements the feeling perfectly.
We tried afternoon tea and the unhurried ambience in quaint surroundings is like stepping back in time from the hustsle and bustle of modern life, and must be tried if you want to escape.

I don't think I've given 5 stars before! We came here nearly 6 years ago for a short honeymoon break. It was the 'poshest' Hotel I'd ever stayed in! Our return showed that the standard hasn't dropped! It's not stuffy posh though; the staff are friendly and informal while the ambience is warm and comforting. You don't feel intimidated!
The food is just AMAZING - have a look at the website http://www.riversidehousehotel.co.uk/ and really that's all I can say! It's location is at the egde of the beautiful (but popular) village next to the river which flows through the lovely gardens. I noticed they seem to be accumulating some interesting sculptures. Wonderful, picturesque walks begin right ourside the door.
You need these in order to counter the vast amounts of food you consume! For us it's not something we can do too often, but if you can it is so worth it. If you can't, try it once; it's even more worth it!
