The Red Lion Hotel

Have just come back from a weekend staying in this hotel, it was such a lovely place to stay. The staff were amazing, very polite, friendly and helpful especially the two ladies working when we arrived on the Friday evening and the lady serving breakfast Saturday morning and this morning. Breakfast was great, scrambled eggs were the best. Hotel is in such a great location. Room was lovely, really clean and loved the spa bath and shower. Will definitely go back.

Lots of noise from the club bar next to it boom boom and noise plus the actual hotel pub stopped serving even soft drinks at 9.30

Came in today for lunch with my daughter, wonderful service. We really enjoyed the food. The staff amazing, very friendly and friendly. Next time we are in Basingstoke we will return.

I have been staying in hotels since April 2021 with work and traveling all over the UK and got used to the mediocre approach of both staff, meals and rooms. You tend to find once you have been to one premier inn or one Holiday Inn Express all rooms look the same, the food is the same (within reason ) and the staff have false smiles slapped on their faces.

The Red Lion hotel however was different for once. I found it unique and authentic. All staff where genuine with real food genuinely cooked to order and rooms that where unique in there own individual way. The red Lion is not the Ritz and you would be a fool to think that but in its own way it is better than the ritz as the Ritz doesn't have free car parking a few steps away from the front door of the hotel in the town centre.

The Ritz doesn't have the charm or personality of the staff that keep return customers coming back for more. There are no cues for breakfast for breakfast in the morning like at most hotels. Instead you get the one on one experience when you walk in the breakfast room asking what you would like and showing you what's on display for breakfast. Attached to the front of the hotel is a gaming pub which serves hot snacks, tea coffee as well as alcoholic drinks and when I went by there was always people in there.

The Red Lion is the secret jewel in the crown of Basingstoke. It has everything it's guests need and also the town. I would happily recommend this hotel to family and friends and also work colleagues for future events.

Still enjoy staying at this hotel, even though got rather expensive. Room this time was very hot unsure why

Bad hotel. the bedroom door remains open, there is no minibar, and above all they do not tidy up the room

The Red Lion is a fabulously friendly Hotel in Basingstoke, just at the otherside of the shopping centre as you come out of the railway station, keep walking, ask for directions to McDonald's and as you walk towards the restaurant turn LEFT and the Red Lion is about 150 yards up on the left. Having walked to the hotel you'll see some high end shopping such as Beverbrooks the jewelers where you're offered coffee as you browse.

The Hotel is staffed by fine fine fine people, good service, good accommodation good food. explore the hotel which also hosts a games bar. Saturday just across the pedestrianised Road to the left, I discovered a 70s night cafe too hence, if you want something different. Basingstoke by train, call the hotel & mention this review too please, fab fab people.

We stayed for 2 nights to go to the Panto with our grandchild. The location is perfect for both the theatre, the shopping mall and restaurants. Although the hotel was not fully open, the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and comfortable.

Hotel is clean and in a great location Mattress was really firm which was something I loved and my partner hated Breakfast wasn't that great hence only 4 stars

Customer service was very good and for the price the room was nice. Got in late at 1.30am and no problems being let in.

Stayed here for one night, shame it wasn't more as this hotel is perfect. Great location for local restaurants and the breakfast in the hotel was delicious. Thank you Red Lion!

Wonderful and warm customer service made our stay very enjoyable. Inclusive breakfast was delicious. Several criticism s were the dated and dirty look of the family room. Surfaces all round have not seen a good scrub for ages

Room was lovely. Bed was comfy. Michelle on her own being a bar manager and receptionist was amazing, welcoming and professional. It was only one night but Michelle helped to make it a fantastic night.

Great rooms. Clean and welcoming. Nice team. Good food and lovely atmosphere

Great value for money. Very clean and tidy hotel which is in very short walking distance to festival place shopping centre and the Vue cinema. Staff extremely helpful. Hotel has a free car park but you must give registration info to reception so you don't get fined, also just check which car park you are allowed to park in. Would definitely go back.

Nice and clean classic place. Well situated. OneWomanHero (doing everything on her own) receptionist was 5 stars.
