Plockton Hotel

Delicious food, if you like seafood you will love the langoustines! We sat in the sunny beer garden, more formal service is available indoors if it's raining.

Fantastic range of drinks on offer and with an outdoor seating area (some of which is covered) offering stunning views.

Location brilliant, service "in training" ( if you know what I mean) and food "ok" just, but there was a wedding on that day so probably took priority.

Everything you would expect from a proper Scottish hotel. Great service, Great local produce, Great view.

Not a bad place to go for a drink but this is the first time I've been told that the unreserved table I'm sat at (for an hour and a half) has now been reserved and we have twenty minutes to finish our drinks. Shocking way to treat customers!

Came here for dinner while touring Scotland. I had the Applecross Crab Salad and my mom had the Venison Steak. Both meals were very good and the staff was so friendly. Our waitress talked us through her favorite items on the menu and made excellent recommendations for our dinner. Make reservations ahead of time. The restaurant got very busy while we were there.

Waitress was lovely, made us feel welcome right as we came in the door. Menu was fantastic, lots to choose from, made it difficult to just pick one thing! Service was impeccable.

Stopped off for a drink and the beer garden view stayed for food. Lush fish and chips! Lovely staff.

A lovely cosy little place to eat or just have a drink. They even do tea, coffee and cake.

Way out of the way with lovely views and decent food and drink. Traditional pub meets seaside b&b atmosphere. The rooms were lovely and cosy; everyone slept very well and ate well!

We ordered the queen scallops and the plockton smokey for starters which were very tasty. Then for mains we had the salmon and sole parcels with thermidor sauce, and the fillet of sea bass with spinach daal. The menu was only available half an hour before the kitchen opened, as it is all freshly caught. Very impressed with the quality of food and the service, we are on our honeymoon and wanted to eat somewhere we wouldn't forget, the views while eating were breathtaking. Will definitely be recommending and hope to be back soon!

Even in the rain, Plockton was lovely. A nice walk, a couple of little shops and a pleasant drink in the Plockton Hotel. Also a great chat with the lovely guy at the Gin Tasting cafe.

We booked a meal here for our last evening in Scotland on this trip. We saw the reviews & were really looking forward to the meal. However, on arrival we were met with what we can only describe as apathy towards us. We were pointed towards a table & were told someone would be along take our order. It was fairly quiet, only 2 other couples, we had to wait 20 mins before anyone came to take our order!

There seemed to be an abundance of staff, but only 2 working their socks off. The drinks arrived & the best bitter was off/or still had some cleaning fluid in it, don't know which. The lobster tails starter was ok. The mains were very average. We were given the sweets menu & we ordered more drinks (not beer!). 30-40mins went by no one came to the table with drinks or sweets.

So we went in search of a member of staff, we found them in full conversation & obviously having a good time! It's a shame we weren't having such a good time. The sweets finally arrived, barely average & the cappuccino coffees also arrived with no coffee in, but plenty of froth & sprinkle. Really quite disappointed, would not recommend, maybe ok if stuck!

Lunch excellent, lovely location, would like to stay at the hotel in the future.

What a little gem we found on the off chance in the Plockton Hotel. Great food, great hospitality, comfy rooms and an amazing view over the harbour! Next time we head back to that part of the country, we will try and book there again

Lovely village hotel. Plockton certainly has our vote. We stayed here during our 11 night tour of the NC 500. Plockton was our Number 1 stopover. The hotel was excellent. Lovely staff, great ambience, excellent breakfast and so relaxing

Lovely dinner out, with gorgeous views in the outside seating area. Meal was reasonably priced. Salt and pepper squid excellent. Puddings were delicious too. Definitely recommend!

Not sure why this place is so many stars, given there are very few reviews. We came here with a tour group do options for lodgings was already very limited. There is basically nothing to do in this town. I would have preferred to stay somewhere else honestly. The cottage room that we were given was small and cramped. The hotel WiFi is only available in the lobby area and does not reach to the rooms and there is no cell signal out here.

The scenery is your typical idyllic Scottish fishing village and there is a castle (over a mile walk away) but once you get past that not much to do really. We tried to sit in the pub area of the hotel but were denied, being told that it was "for locals only." They seem to be rather rude to the tourists on who's dollars this town's existence depends on.

My suggestion to your companies: take your passengers to a town that would actually appreciate our business. There is no shortage of similar highland coastal towns/villages so stop taking people to Plockton as they clearly do not appreciate our business. We definitely would not stay at this hotel again. If we had to go to Plockton again we would probably try the Inn but would never do the hotel again.

There food was not bad, but the service was terrible (although par for the course in the UK. Just doesn't compare to service in the US were tipping creates an incentive to provide better service).

Since we were staying the night at the hotel, we decided to have dinner in their restaurant in which the main dining room was reserved for their hotel guests. They offered daily specials along with their normal dinner menu. I had a vegetable leak soup and my wife had fried Calamari as a starter. My wife ordered the seafood platter which offered a large variety of fresh local seafood which included crab legs, muscles, scallops and small fish.

I had the Beef & Whiskey our with chips and a medley of cooked vegetables. Both meals were served in generous portions and had outstanding flavor. The service was very friendly and attentive. The hotel also has a pub that serves off of the same menu for lunch and dinner. Came here for live music and a pint. Plockton Hotel has a dining area and bar when you walk into the front entrance. But walk to the back and make a left, and there's a back bar with live music on certain nights (be sure to ask the locals to confirm). More tap and cask beers are available back here as well as a small bar and a handful of tables.

Each beer I ordered was phenomenal (par for the course in Scotland) with proper cask conditioning on the cask ales - a feat seldom seen in the U.S. We had a blast with the locals here and stayed late drinking and chatting. It was one of my most treasured experiences in Scotland.

Overall nice experience for dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here. An improvement would be the waitstaff for dinner - most of them seemed to be in high school and were not very attentive or engaging.

The food was okay, but my mother's chicken was a little dry. It's a bit fancy, but they were patient with us despite our etiquette being different from theirs. I tried to look up the etiquette before we came to Scotland & I did my best to stick to it, but my mother in law is from an older generation where she thinks she can act how she wants no matter whose "home" (or country) she is in.

They were surprisingly really calm about it- not sure I would have been so if I were in their shoes. La comida estaba bien, pero el pollo de mi madre estaba un poco seco. Es un restaurante elegante, pero tuvieron paciencia con nosotros a pesar de que nuestra etiqueta era diferente a la de ellos. Trate a estudiar la etiqueta antes de venir a Escocia y hice todo lo posible para cumplirla, pero mi suegra es de una generacion anterior en la que cree que puede actuar como quiera sin importar de quien sea su "hogar" (o pais). Sorprendentemente estaban realmente tranquilos aun el falta respeto, no estoy segura de haberlo sido si estuviera en su lugar.

This city had been recommended by the owner of our B&B. The town is lovely but if you want to eat something, the choice is quite limited. This place looks like a traditional Scottish pub. The food is fine with "real" fish. However, we had to ask for the sauce and the taste is ok but not exceptional. I rated it 3 stars as there is interesting range of Scottish beers, among them the Highland Amarillo that I really appreciated. Finally, the staff was very friendly and gave me additional information regarding this beer.

It was okay. The food was okay, but not really memorable. The service needs to be improved. We had 3 or 4 servers, one was very helpful and friendly, one of the others seemed more interested in the football match that was evidently playing in the bar, he finally tooke our order and we barely saw him again.

'Touristy' is how I'd describe this place. Quite a bit of spurious tartan to be seen, from the carpets to the collars of the shirts worn by the waiters and waitresses. I came by for dinner but wasn't overly impressed with the food. Sure, it was okay, but not special. The soup came with one small slice of bland bread. The fish and chips were reasonable, but the sticky toffee pudding was sub-par. The service was also mixed: one waiter was friendly and helpful; another was surly and rather less helpful. Passable, but there are better places to go for meals out.
