Very convenient place to stay, 2 minute walk to Haymarket Train station and tram/bus stops. Our room was quite small and had to step over the bed to get to the curtains but was spotlessly clean. Beds were so comfortable. Heating and water was red hot and had plenty for both to shower. Staff were very helpful and friendly, recommended places to eat. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Would definitely stay again

Our room was not featured on the official website. It was tiny, the sink never drained, the shower took forever to drain, bed moved when u sat on it, remote control for TV was filthy, lamp above bed absolutely thick with dust. Very disappointing and after looking forward to the city break it was a real disappointment. Locators the only thing good. Room 40 pure awful

Purchased 2 day stay through Groupon at 49 a night. Photos on Groupon site and Piries hotel site were very deceiving! Tiny room with barely enough space to walk around bed Could feel springs through mattress TV had limited channels and pixilated picture Rotting wood on window which did not shut completely no elevators, have to carry luggage up several flights, carpet on stairs was filthy. /plenty of hot water in shower, but drain was backed up, Black mild on tile Didn't have to sleep outdoors If all you need is hot shower and avoid sleeping on the streets, this will do. If the room advertised exists, it's not the one you'll get for this price!

I booked my stay at Piries through Booking and honestly for what we paid I was expecting something better. There were spider webs around the room, the shower tray was damaged, we found water in the boiler (probably from the previous guests) and there was no toilet brush. I have to say that the room was worm and the bed really comfortable, but it wasn't really up to our expectations.
On the other hand, a really good point is the member of staff which welcomed us and that we met almost every night, he has been really nice and helpful, unfortunately I don't remember his name but I know he lived in Spain for about 10 years.

Stayed here last night and was really disappointed with the room it's was nothing like the pic on booking.com it's wasn't very clean the paint work was yellow chipped to bits and not very nice very dated tv and the dust on the radiator was a disgrace not to mention the view out of the window it was like a forest ivy growing up the windows.when we got back home last night the room was freezing bearing in mind there was snow high winds.
I rang reception and told them there was no heating the young lad advised to turn it up but I explained we had already turned the thermostat to 5 and it still didn't work he was very helpful and brought us an electric radiator but to our surprise the radiator were on in the morning so it must be on a timed setting witch I think is wrong especially when it's cold u expect to have a warm room also when it said breakfast included we were hoping for a full English but got a bacon sandwich to our disappointment the staff we couldn't fault or the location but unless ur in the main part of the hotel I wouldn't recommend staying in the other side of this hotel it looked lovely on booking.com but I would of rather stayed in travel lodge

3 star hotel it isn't. Room was clean but basic. Breakfast was a let down, a choice between a bacon or sausage roll, that wouldn't set you up for a day off sight- seeing. It's an old Victorian building so no lift if you have mobility issue this would be an issue. We where on top floor I struggled with the stairs.

(I booked my stay via Booking.com, and this review is also over there) First off, the staff. The staff here are absolutely fantastic, some of the most kind and helpful people I've ever met while staying somewhere. Thankfully there were no problems, but if there were then it's great to know that there are staff available 24/7. The room we stayed in was a family suite, it was huge, and most importantly comfortable.
It was basically a full apartment. It had a nice shower room, living/dining area and a master bedroom. The living room had 2 sofa beds in so there was space for 6 people really, so for my family of 4 stay, we had ample space to be comfortable. The bedding was super clean, there were towels provided, and the pillows, they are feather and REALLY comfortable also.
The location of this hotel is superb. It's next to a tram stop, bus stop, so it's easy to get to train stations, the zoo, castle, town and more within minutes. I've got to say, if/when I visit Edinburgh again, I'll certainly be staying here!

The hotel is located 15 minutes walking distance from the old town, which is great if you want to visit all the attractions. The staff is friendly and available 24/7 to help with any queries. The room was provided with a kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, mugs and tea spoons but it was bit dated, small, the bed had 2 single-bed frames underneath a double bed mattress and were on wheels, which made the bed unstable and sensible to any movement.
The bathroom was without window and extraction fan; the water pressure of the shower was good but the draining system wasn't as efficient and causing water to accumulate during the shower.

I call this the "you get what you pay for hotel". My experience was pretty good and would stay again. I didn't have any real issues. We stayed on a Saturday night for80. Which was very good compared to the competition. Checked in was straight forward and the room was massive (attached picture). Check out was fairly painless too. The bed was nice and comfy and the room was clean.
The downsides were nothing severe. The toilet was pretty small for the size of room, and there was some sort of issue on the top left part of the ceiling. The room we were in was facing back yard which did have some noise but nothing to annoying. Overall, would stay again!

I booked Piries Hotel very last minute as I just needed somewhere to stay one night so I could return to work the next day a bit more bright eyed and bushy tailed. I checked in late at night and honestly expected my room to be horrible because I had only paid 34 for two people for one night. When we arrived, the service was quick and friendly and we sleepily plodded off to our room.
The room was actually really nice for a budget stay, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was very modern looking. Everything was clean and there was a TV and kettle. The room was quite small but absolutely perfect size for us. Check out was super quick and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I needed a cheap place to stay. I've given it 5 stars because there was no problems at all and although it's not a 5 star hotel or anything it still had everything you need for a pleasant stay. Oh and it is just around the corner from Haymarket station - bonus!
