I have stayed here a couple of times. The location is beautiful and staff very friendly and helpful. When booking a room I was told that the was only luxury rooms available at a more expensive price. I was given a room in the south lodge. Although the view was beautiful the room had no luxury. The carpets were thread bare, tables water stained and the bathroom badly in need of a refurb.
Hall and landings in South lodge also in dire need of new carpets and decoration. The staff very kindly moved me into the main building to a lovely room also with a beautiful view. This place could really be the place to be but really need money spending in places.

Lovely hotel, nice rooms great views of river, excellent service and staff, Dinner excellent food, But they cooked Breakfast was very poor, under done bacon and sausage and grilled tomato wasn't grilled at all, only 4 small button mushrooms and 2 hard poached eggs, rest of the cereals coffee fruit etc all great, next morning asked for bacon and sausage to be in for longer no difference, tomato better and fried egg this time good, have a word with the chef

This was just a visit for coffee and cake whilst my car was being MOT'd and Serviced. We chose a table with a view of the River Teign in the Conservatory area which was most pleasant. Coffee and cake at 5 each. There was a downside though which did spoil the peace and quiet, a young man vacuuming with his noisy 'Henry' cleaner all around that area including close to us. This could have been stopped whilst we were there. I had gone there to escape noise so was not impressed! The venue is very pleasant though on the banks of the River Teign.

Possibly the friendliest hotel in south Devon. Rooms are clean, the shower works, the staff are wonderfully helpful. The restaurant has a limited menu, but what they do they do exceptionally well - steak and fish are to die for. The view across the river is wonderful: I loved sitting watching the birds across the estuary with a coffee. If you want variety, a short walk to the pub closer to river will provide food options. Well worth a visit to this oasis.
