This is a great pub. It is located in the Troutbeck Valley which is the centre for lots of fantastic walks. Therefore the pub is very popular with walkers. Good selection of cask ales and an excellent pub food menu. Inside is a great pub atmosphere with character, but on a nice day go to the beer garden with the great views across the valley. The is a small car park, but the best way to visit would be to walk.

We took a walk from Trout Beck Bridge to Trout Beck and this pub offered some welcome relieve. There was a roaring fire and great atmosphere. We ate a ploughman's platter between three of us. The pickle was surprisingly spicely, but overall all the flavours of the food complimented each other well. Great beer, as well.

Staff were excellent, location perfect especially in the garden on a warm day. Rooms were okay with a fabulous view over the garden and the valley, we had our cockapoo Bailey with us and was welcomed by all of the staff whilst having fun with the other dogs. The food was excellent quality if not a bit expensive Would definitely revisit.

First time I have visited here in over ten years. The place has retained its beautiful traditional pub feel with a hearty menu, open fires, and pub cat. Great choice of real ales in beautiful surroundings. The gardens look as grand as ever but typically we attended on a wet April day. Well with the drive off the beaten track for a proper authentic Lakes pub.

From the minute we pulled up we could sense this was going to be a great stay and it never let us down excellent staff very friendly And helpful. The meal we ordered was fantastic. And with me running my own paranormal company Hauntedbuildings.uk It was a extra bonus because I could sense Spirits and not the ones behind the bar I took some pictures from the garden and I captured a figure looking out of the window Beautiful hotel and we will definitely be back again

Went here for lunch and the garden had a lovely view. I ordered the Ploughmans and beside the fact it was missing the advertised cheddar, it was very tasty. My husband said his fish and chips was very good. Finding it was our challenge as we did not realize how far down the country lane it would be after the last sign we saw. We stopped and asked and we had just not gone far enough, so when you see the last sign just keep on going and you will run in to it.
