Mishnish Hotel As the main story of a recent edition of Economist argues that avoiding mass hunger caused by the war in Ukraine is everyone's business. More finished crops in the world must feed people, because the world can no longer afford the inefficiencies and risks of running crops through animals.

Today, there are promising emerging technologies that could feed a growing world population while simultaneously tackling climate change, global health and food security: meat without the animal.Plant-based alternatives to conventional meat, seafood, eggs and dairy, as well as cultured meat, have seen a significant increase in market traction in recent years.

Most expensive fish n chips takeaway I've ever paid for at 13.50 each and wasn't the best I've had. Not too impressed really but loved the little story in the photo hanging in the bar.

This place was very lively everyone was having a good time with drinks, playing pool and live music. The food was amazing! I wouldn't expect to get such great food from a pub! The drink selection is vast and you can't beat the location. This is definitely a gem of a pub if you are visiting Tobemory.

Great place to fill that food and drink tank when you arrive at Tobermory. Staff are smiling happy faces and service is excellent. We had a wonderful meal that that reasonably priced and a few drinks. It a very old fashioned looking place with plenty of character, plenty of interesting history and photos.

Love this local pub, full of Characters and made to feel welcome as a line traveller. Everyone is friendly in Tobermory. Lots of variety of drink to choose from. Bar food was good, especially the oysters. Shout out to Zac behind the bar for having a phenomenal memory for "peoples usual"

Food was ok, chips cold. Sunday visit, lovely day outside, the guy serving was really nice, however, the woman with the blonde hair was awful! Terrible attitude, grumpy, spoke down to the guy, not a smile came from her at all, shame really, good place for a pint!

Cosy bar with real fire. Food is tasty and the menu caters for all diners. Drink a bit expensive and servers a bit slow. We were a party of 8 and had a private room near the bar. Food served quickly. Dog friendly.

Excellent seafood and first class seafood. We loved it that much we ate there for two nights. A really great wine list as well. The linguistine was fresh as and super tasty as were the oysters. Definitely recommend.

We recently had an unsatisfactory dinning experience at Mishnish. It began with the waitress refusing to help us with what beers were being served. After telling us they had many to choose from I said wonderful what are they at which point she told me that there were to many for her to name. When I asked how could I choose she said I can select for you if you tell me what you like.

I offered to go around to the bar in the hotel to select one and she told me that would not be possible. At that point I gave up and said I would just drink water. For dinner we decided to order the seafood platter for two, it sounded good and of course we were on the isle of Mull. My wife asked if the meal would be warm and if it would have bread and other accompaniments.

She was told that it would be abundant and warm. What we were presented was far short of our expectations. First of all the meal was almost entirely cold and served at a refrigerated temp. There was only a 1/2 Lobster portion. A small side salad and there thin slices of bread. When we asked our waitress if the small salad and bread were meant to be shared she answered yes.

She said she could bring us another salad which seemed reasonable however when we received our bill we were charged for an additional salad. The cold seafood food was quiet bland. The only given to accompany the crab claws, langoustines and small portion of lobster was mayonnaise and yellow mustard? It was completely disappointing.

When visiting Mull, stop in Oban or anywhere else to grab food or maybe stop at any grocery store to pick up nibbles. We came here absolutely starving from the day and just didn't care what we ate. I will never return here for food. It might be a lovely hotel and the pub side is cute and lovely. We visited this side and it was completely empty. Empty.

We were asked if we had a reservation which I know prompted a crazy look from me. We were still sat. It took about 10 minutes to be asked for drinks so we were already ready to order. The chef refused to alter one of the menu items aka taking something off for one of my cousins allergy. I ordered a few small appetizers and no one really ate their food.

We did eat their cold bread because we were starving. Way too much money later, I was driving to Glengorm castle from Tobermory and pulled over really fast. I then managed to throw up for 10 minutes. The attitude we received plus the fact that I ended up quickly throwing up on a one lane road next to some nice highland cows really sealed it for me. Just take the ferry back to Oban, people are way nicer there.

One of my best friends works seasonally in Tobermory and I tend to visit him a few times over the summer. During my most recent visits the Mish Nish had been going through a bit of a refurb including the outside brick work being painted yellow again to reflect the other brightly coloured buildings around it that are recognisable from the programme Balamory.

On my most recent visit I noticed that the refurb had been completed for the hotel, the bar and the adjacent restaurant. I ended up in the bar most nights for a pint and on one night we decided to get some food from the adjoining restaurant. As a huge lover of seafood I only had one thing on my mind. Langoustine! Freshly caught beauties straight to the table.

I was not disapointed, the seafood in Tobermory is other worldly and these langoustine lived up to my expectations. I never indulged in a started or dessert but did have some excellent white wine. The price of the meal was not cheap as it is the fancier part of the mish but it was good for a treat and a fancier night out. The actual bar of the mish also does some pub grub which I experienced also in the form of the soup of the day which was always cheap, tasty and filling. Tobermory is an absolutley beautiful place and I hope to continue to visit it for many more years.

MISH-DISH Review and the pub! the mish-dish is the best meal we had in this part of the world - we were absolutely pleased from beginning to end with our meal. We have high standards for flavor - and every one was met! Great ambiance - and got to meet the 'new family owners' of the pub afterwards. Welcome home ooh rah! - tell the comedian he still isn't funny. We look forward to visiting again. Jenna and Matt

I haven't stayed in the hotel, so can't comment on that. This is an excellent pub with a memorable name. The interior is lovely, and quite maritime with lots of wood everywhere. There's lots of interesting memorabilia everywhere to look at - but it's not over the top and tacky at all. The bar staff are friendly, and there's a good range of beers and whiskies. There's 2 large screen TVs so this is a popular place when they's sport on - but if you want to escape that the bar layout is such that there are lots of wee alcoves and additional small rooms just off the bar - so it's easy to find a private spot. The Mishnish also has great live music on fairly regularly. And the bar meals are good too - with locally caught fish featuring.

This is a brilliant pub with a brilliant name. It has a really intricate interior with quite a few nice tables in the main area, but the best bit is the private rooms that were strangely empty on our visit, despite there being no tables free in the main pub. They have a small games room with a big chest of games and a tv which you can watch whatever you like on, and a larger room with about 3 or 4 tables in it.

They also have a darts corridor where people can play darts without getting in anyone else's way. I can't comment on the beer as I was on Scotch, which they have a very wide range of as you'd expect in these parts, but they seemed to have a decent range of real ale as well. The atmosphere was lively and staff were friendly, although somehow they've managed to get themselves two Chinese barmaids (not sure how on Earth they've ended up on the Isle of Mull), one of whom clearly hadn't been trained too well.

She didn't know how to pour a pint of Guinness (my dad wasn't too impressed with his half-black half-white concoction), and she put ice in our whiskies without asking (sacrilegious to the Scots!). Still, I'm sure a few more months in Scotland will iron out these flaws, and the rest of the pub is good enough to make up for it. We left at gone 12:30 and there was no sign of them kicking anyone out either, which made a refreshing change from London. So, next time you find yourself thirsty on Mull you know where to go. Oh, I see Qype has this down as a hotel (which it is). but I can't comment on the hotel part of the operation. I'd imagine it's good though.
