The hotel accommodated us in a room with a broken window (got fixed with a wooden panel) and the wing we were staying in extremely stank of sewage to the point that we had to cover our faces when hurrying through the corridor. We requested a different room for which we had to pay an upgrade fee! The new rooms are much better, but not well looked after either with a wobbly tap, shower not draining and no ventilation or possibility to open a window in the bathroom. :( When trying to have an honest dialogue with the hotel staff, they got rude and advised us to contact a general email address.

We have not received a response from the complaint manager until today (probably because it does not exist). Very unfortunately, but definitely for sure will not recommend this hotel and next time going to stay in a hotel chain, like premier inn on the Evesham bypass to avoid such hassle.

The staff were friendly and efficient enough and seemed to work hard.food was good But what let the whole place down was dim lighting areas especially around the pool. It did not look inviting at all. Bedroom furniture had definitely seen better days and could do with total refurbishment however it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Large windows were extremely draughty and cold. It had good points but let down in other ways. Would not recommend or return.

Quirky, independent hotel with fantastic staff, great food, comfy rooms. Room decor was a bit tired but it didn't bother us. It was great value for money. Pool was smaller than I thought and could've been warmer but my husband enjoyed it. We had a lovely stay and would definitely go back.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful, but the decor is very very tired. My room was very large, which was nice. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the mattress felt like an old horsehair mattress. The mattress was very grooved, with an uncomfortable sloped feeling, when lying down. There were also marks in the carpet like the one in the picture, which looks like a previous infestation of moths.

Hotel staff were exceptional. Rooms were bit dated but clean and smelt fresh and lovely. Had a deep heated tissue massage with Danielle, WOW amazing best we have ever had. And not like these places were you book an hour and they massage you for forty mins and leave you to relax it was a full hour. Thanks Danielle. Are two nights too food lovely then chilled in bar with some G&T's mmm fab few days away. Will go back XXX

Lovely food although my request for half of the afternoon tea to be plain ham sandwiches.out of 8 finger sandwiches only 1 was plain ham. So my daughter had 7 and I had 1. 50 and you expect to be full. Lovely place though.

3 stars as problems with rooms. Some are excellent others not up to standard. Therefore would always ask for a newly refurbished room when booking. Staff are very helpful and polite.

Absolutely lovely experience! The hotel is gorgeous and beautiful, the bed was spacious and super soft, everything was clean and working properly. The continental breakfast was quite filling, with some buffet options available. They also have a nice garden.

Great old hotel with character. Wonderful large established gardens. Good size rooms, if not a little tired. Quirky nautical theme in the one we stayed in. Good size pool with a sauna. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Good value for the price.

Marmite is absolutely right and I like Marmite too. Give the place 2 minutes and if it doesn't grab you it is probably best to go somewhere else. No mobile phones in public areas, good food, excellent service, no piped music, no tipping, extensive (and I mean extensive) wine list but no French or German wines. The daftest toilets you have ever seen. Don't take my word for it, go and see for yourself.

As hotels go, this is as 'Marmite' as they come. You either love it or hate it. I like Marmite, and I love this place. (If you look on Trip Advisor, you'll see a few of the Marmite haters.) I've stayed here quite a few times over the years, mainly on business, but also out of choice. A 40 bedroom hotel, it has in my mind three extremely memorable features, not including the various themed rooms.

The Loos (Award Winning); The Gin (Expensive, but the best); The owner (John Jenkinson). The website describes the place very well, and gives you a taste of the eccentric flavour of what's to come. All I'll say is don't try and out do the boss on the 'outrageous tie' front. You stand NO chance. //G
