Buckland Manor Buckland Manor, the Best Leisure Hotel in the British Isles, near Broadway, dates back to the thirteenth century and is set in glorious grounds featuring immaculate gardens with running stream, small waterfalls, croquet lawns and tennis courts. The ancient valley in which Buckland Manor now stands was first mentioned in around 600 AD, when the land was owned by the Abbey of Gloucester. It was later recorded in the Domesday Book.

First impression when you walk up the front stairs is the banister is about to fall off. This was a wonderful place but is no longer. I'm told that after a hotel is accepted into Relais and Chateaux membership there isn't regular check ups to be certain that the standard is maintained. That's the problem at Buckland. It was a fine hotel but isn't any longer.

The food is mediocre with only a few selections on the menu. The management is rigid and unfriendly. The location near Broadway is still good but now there are several other choices that are far better at lower cost.

Always excellent. Christmas here has been fabulous, and it's not over yet. Even the smallest bedroom has a Dyson hairdryer and a Nespresso machine. The staff are without exception first class and the food delicious. We have visited many times and it never disappoints.

We have eaten here before but this was our first time to stay over. Absolutely outstanding service, the staff could not do enough for us and we felt most welcome. Had the most lovely time!

It could be sufficient to say what a wonderful property this is and such a great place to stay (superbly located in a gorgeous part of the Cotswold's and so tastefully maintained and converted to such a cosy and delightful hotel to treat yourself at), but it's primary benefit and, I believe, the reason to stay is it's small number of rooms and consequently guests staying.

It really is intimate and with just c15 rooms, the staff to guests ratio means you really do get personal service. Every, repeat every, member of staff went out of their way to greet and talk to us during our recent stay and it is this, combined with such a lovely property that makes it such a wonderful place to stay at and we'll certainly be doing so again in the near future.

Also My wife is registered disabled and the preparation and service from all the staff to accommodate her could not have been better. Absolutely wonderful! Great stay in a great property made special by great staff and overall operation

My husband and I had a wonderful evening. The dinner was exceptional full of flavour with every detail taken care of. The room was clean and had more than everything we needed. A lot of thought has gone into making guests feel welcome and we had a very relaxing stay.

Enjoyed another stay at Buckland Manor. Our suite was beautiful and spacious, the restaurant is equally brilliant for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner, and the staff are professional and friendly. Finally, the Manor is located on a magnificent estate property just about a mile outside of the village of Broadway, close enough to the action but far enough to make you feel like royalty. Will definitely return.

We stayed just after lockdown 2020 and said we would return. We were not disappointed. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The Old manor house has been beautifully preserved and is full of sumptuous soft furnishings and antique furniture - but not stuffy and overdone. The grounds are large and well tended. Our room- the oak room - was a beautiful 4 poster bedded room. Finally, the food was excellent and they catered for my husband's garlic allergy with no problems.

Dreadful stay. No hot water, a cold bath for me and a cold shower for my husband in the evening, still no hot water come morning, not much in the way of an apology and no signs of a manager to complain to. This was quite obviously an ongoing problem as when we rang down to reception we were told, "oh, it's probably the boiler" The room was 375 per night, we had only one, poor quality toilet roll, the toilet roll holder was broken, the hall light didn't work, the switch on the fan was broken and the mirror in the bathroom was far too high with no shelf for toiletries.

Including food and drink our bill was 580, 50 was discounted for our inconvenience. We had just spent four nights at sea on a fabulous cruise with five star service, food, entertainment and accommodation for not even 700 per person. Spoilt what had been a fabulous break, absolutely do not recommend. Apologies to the young girl on the reception desk.

We didn't complain to her but she obviously was aware that complaints had been made. The manager should have stepped forward to apologise, 530 is a lot of money to spend and not be happy.

This was a fantastic experience for me and my wife on our 30th wedding anniversary, we had an amazing time, the manor & grounds themselves were really beautiful, the food was great and the staff brilliant, wicked to see how the other half live.

Used to set the standard but now very ordinary for the price they charge. No style, disappointing food and the extra touches that we have been used to were not there. No sign of the Manager or anyone else in authority. They couldn't even find a biscuit to have with early morning tea!

Do not go here if you don't have a reservation or are staying here. We arrived after a leisurely walk and asked if we could grab a drink. We were led to a table and waited to be served. A waiter arrived and took one look at us (casually dressed for walking as all other guests were on a Saturday afternoon) and essentially said "how did you get in here?" Very condescending treatment for the whole visit.

It is 4-star hotel pretending to be 5 star with 5-star prices. I paid 15 for a single glass of wine - more than I've paid anywhere in the world, even London. On departure, we had to pay at reception (the machine doesn't work out here) and the lady said "Oh, you're the walk-ins.". Avoid unless you enjoy being treated with contempt and distain. One star for clean loos.

This is without doubt one of the most luxurious 'home from home' stately country retreats my wife and I have ever stayed in (twice). It has EVERYTHING you need to hit the re-charge button. From the great. welcome to the ongoing, yet discreet and always available, service which goes above and beyond expectations. Highly recommended for the discerning guest *****

Majestic country Manor House, with friendly unstuffy and helpful staff. Food is wonderful and the wine list is extensive. Rooms are homely yet elegant and well equipped with luxury toiletries. This is our second visit and we'll most definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed here for our 40 th wedding trip. We were here for 4 days before we left on a cruise. The rooms are gorgeous, the meals are wonderful. My husband discovered oatmeal for breakfast served with a splash of scotch. We returned a few years ago with friends for lunch and were treated like long lost friends. The gardens are beautiful, the place is so relaxing. I cannot say enough about it. It is just what you really want when you visit England. We can't wait to return.
