Merewood Country House Hotel

Fantastic venue for a wedding. Lovely location and the food was excellent. Would have given a full five stars for service but the girl behind the bar on Friday night was clueless and clearly uncomfortable behind a bar. Despite that we had a great time and the views are stunning.

We had a just us wedding here on Monday and it was absolutely perfect. There were 5 of us in total and everything was just how we wanted it, we had no stress for our time at all. I would highly recommend both the afternoon tea and arboreal for some lovely food along with great service. Particular shout out to Nick, he was only working for our first night but was great, very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. We are looking forward to returning for our anniversary

We had a Just Us wedding at the end of April and it was perfect in every way. It was our 2nd date, due to the pandemic and the staff throughout the whole process were friendly, efficient, professional, understanding and so helpful. We felt like we were just as important as a big fancy wedding. On the big day, everything went so smoothly, there was no stress at all and everything was timed to perfection.

The afternoon tea was fantastic and the 7 course taster menu in the evening was amazing. Our guests had lovely rooms and the view from the Bridal Suite is just WOW! We didn't want any of it to end. A big thank you to Helen, Caleigh, Beth and all the staff for helping to create our perfect wedding day

Staying for 3 nights. Room a good size and had both kettle for tea and hot chocolate plus coffee machine. Decor fresh and neutral. Toiletries provided and replenished on request. Good selection at breakfast and in the Grill in evening. Cannot comment on the Arboreal restaurant as we didn't eat there. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and did all they could to make our stay a happy one.

Very friendly staff who I think were exceptional. Superb food and highly recommend the apple crumble.the pastry chef is very talented. Incredible breakfast choice. House itself was amazing with modern comfortable bar and 2 lounges full of tradition and character. We will definitely be back. Brilliant view out over Lake Windermere. Very dog friendly. Our bulldog Henry had a fab time in the grounds.

We booked here for 1 night last minute and wished we had booked here instead of the hotel that we had just spent 3 nights at. The hotel is old fashioned in the best way. Tablecloths and teacups sort of place. Free parking. Nice staff. We had dinner here which was lovely and we would definitely stay again. We felt relaxed and comfortable here.

First time ever to the Lakes Myself and husband had 2 night break. Rated Merewood 5 star because everything was. Had breakfast, excellent, and waited on by the lovely charming Ryan who was happy to give us a recommendations of were to visit. Evening meal excellent, the equally charming young man Michael took care of us both evenings, he is pleasant, professional and equally amusing, Thankyou to everyone.

We cannot thank the staff at Merewood enough! We recently had our wedding at this beautiful hotel & everything from start to finish was above and beyond. Joyce on reception was very welcoming and knew exactly where all our guests were staying & who everyone was - on the day of the wedding she was so helpful with all our questions. Beth - wedding planner AMAZING, everything we had pre arranged happened and all of the potential stress was taken away she knew exactly what was happening and ensured we met all the times we had to be places. Ryan - 'aka Mr Merewood' smiled from start to finish and was so helpful with everything.

There was only 9 of us but he made sure we were fed & watered the whole time with a wonderful smile. Thank you Ryan for ensuring it didn't rain on our wedding day! Our experience was everything & more. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and we cannot thank the staff enough. We cannot wait to return on our anniversary! Mr & Mrs Smith (02.02.2022)

Beautiful hotel with really lovely grounds. All decorated for Christmas and fires crackling away in the entrance hall and lounge. Room was very clean with good range of tea and a coffee machine. Shampoo etc in bathroom which was beautiful too. Food was excellent and service too. Reception very quick and efficient. We will be back.

We arrived 3/12/21 and stayed for 2 nights. Amazing staff, very personable, friendly and happy staff. We eloped for our stay here and Helen, our wedding coordinator, was absolutely fantastic. No details go amiss with Helen, your wedding is in very capable hands with her. The general manager, Rob, was a witness for us and our elopement and he was also very friendly and approachable. Waiting staff and bar staff were all very friendly, chatty and kind. Matt, Lucy and Tavia made our stay very memorable. Nick was absolutely brilliant, every day he came to check on us and ensure our stay was up to the standard they like to adhere to at the Merewood. We will never forget our elopement wedding here and we will be back year after year.

My elderly mother and I stayed on Tuesday 23rd November. Nothing was too much trouble for your amazing, friendly staff. I would particularly commend a young man from Birmingham sorry, no name badge, and our very knowledgeable waitress in Arboreal. Her name began with 'D'. From Poland. The food was out of this world, especially the venison. The ambiance of the whole house, not to mention the viewswas perfect. We would come again in a flash

The business, terrific place, service staff very friendly and polite, room really clean, with even a coffee machine, and a hole pile of different teas, nice and warm with roaring fires, in most of the leasure rooms. Try the afternoon tea and scones. Just great

Had a lovely stay here, just wish it could have been for longer. Clean, cosy and comfortable rooms and a beautiful breakfast. Didn't get the chance to explore the grounds as it was pouring down! Great location just outside Windermere, close to Ambleside.

My partner and I chose to hold our 'Just Us' Wedding at Merewood this September and it was absolutely amazing. I cannot sing the praises for this hotel enough; the wedding coordinator Helen along with all the staff could not do enough for us during our stay and made our wedding absolutely perfect. We simply could not have asked for more; the grounds are beautiful which can be seen from the lake view rooms.

The food in the 'The Grill' Restaurant was to a good standard, the room service cooked breakfast was especially tasty. The afternoon tea was outstanding. Thank you to all of the staff at Merewood for being so friendly and accommodating and making our stay one that we will never forget!

We had a Just Us Wedding here last week with four additional guests, and we all had an amazing time! All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and they were very accommodating when it came to food and dietary requirements. The views from the rooms were beautiful and so was the building itself. Even though it was just the six of us, they made the wedding a very special occasion and there was a lovely wedding atmosphere. We also enjoyed the cruise on lake Windermere which was included in the Just Us package - it was a lovely way to explore the local area.

Dinner in Arboreal was truly amazing. Each dish on the tasting menu was delicious and the portions were perfect (we didn't feel overly full at the end). Service was also superb - relaxed and unfussy. Excellent value at 55 a head. A real treat, compliments to the chef and the front of house staff.

Came here for a Wedding, absolutely brilliant Country Hotel. Beautiful surroundings & views of the Lake. Excellent service throughout & staff warm & friendly. The bedroom Fabulous. Well worth the visit!

Fabulous. Beautiful location, lovely building, friendly, helpful service from all staff. Food was excellent, and the breakfast probably the best we've ever had at a hotel. Lots of choice and the right quantities. The 7 course tasting menu was a great dining experience and delicious. We'll definitely stay here again. We loved being away from the crowds in Windermere and this was a tranquil haven with gorgeous views.
