Great value for money, very friendly staff and excellent hospitality and service. We enjoyed the welcome sweets/wee drams in our room! Dinner at the Bistro was excellent and we had a great breakfast in the morning, too. The staff were very welcoming to us and our dogs and we'd recommend the hotel to anyone. It also has the perk of being situated on the world's shortest street!

Centrally located, this hotel offers a warm friendly team who are keen to make your visit as memorable and enjoyable as possible. The small memorable touches such as the personal note in our room from Murray, Ellie and Jen but also the informal chat at the end of our meal was delightful. Would recommend this hotel not only for the food but the teams enthusiasm in delivering a great service.

+ve's. Staff lovely, great WiFi. Sadly it ends there. The hotel is massively dated, my room had a knackered mattress and was very tired. No hot water. Given another room next night, still tired and still no hot water. Both windows overlooked A&E with no net curtains so unless you want people to watch you change you have to pull the curtains.which is not great during the day.
Nice menu but very pricey and I'm sad to say very average especially for the money. This place needs a complete overhaul. If you like very outdated decor, very noisy rooms and no hot water then this is the place for you.

We were visiting Wick with little idea what we find. Had found friendly cafes but in uninspiring locations in the morning. Lunch approaching saw Mackays Hotel across the bridge over Wick River. Very friendly, good food and a pint of ale. Menu for full dining looked good and the whole place looked inviting efficient and well run.

Not bad, but waiter wanted to remove my dinner plate when not finished + arrived back at hotel, at 11:15 locked out! Thanks for response but it is a hotel, come into 21st century - do not expect everyone to be tucked up in bed by 11pm. There are such things as swipe access, keys and codes to allow access when doors are closed. Primarily though it would be good if you advised customers that you locked the doors at 11pm when they checked in.

This was stop No 4 on our NC500 trip and definitely scores very highly out of all our stops. The inclusive dinner we booked with our stay was outstanding and the staff went the extra mile as it was our honeymoon. Got some good single malt tasting advice in the bar at the end of the evening. The room was clean, light and airy with a view of the river.
Breakfast was very good and throughout it all the staff were friendly and attentive. This is an extremely good value for money stop in NE Scotland. We would definitely recommend and will be back the next time we are this far north again.

Stayed as part of the NC500 route, a great little hotel. I think it is family run, and the owners are warm and welcoming. They took us to our room which was well sized, but dated. It felt like staying at your grandmothers, but that did give it a 'homely, honest' feel. Water pressure wasn't amazing either. There is no dedicated parking either. However the food was very very good. Award winning, in fact. We had a slap up dinner in the restaurant and I must say that it was possibly one of the best of the entire trip.
