Forss House is a delightful 1810 country home nestling in 20 acres of woodland, below a waterfall, on the gently meandering River Forss. In truth there can be few finer spots to linger in the big sky country; a place where time always seems to be on your side. A 13 bedroom family owned hotel Forss House is an elegant comfortable haven that puts you instantly at ease with a welcoming staff keen to look after you.

Hotel and grounds were beautiful, loved the entrance very old worldly classy hunting/fishing lodge, rooms were luxurious, warm and clean lots of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and biscuits. The roll top bath and Arran Aromatic products was such a nice touch too. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was all local and seasonal and tasted amazing. Great base for exploring John O Groats, Orkney, Dunnet Bay and Thurso. Next time we're staying longer loved it!

Truly our best ever hotel stay experience, we felt indulged, cared, and valued. The hotel has the most perfect, comfortable decor, which creates a homely, cosy ambience. The staff genuinely friendly, kind and thoughtful. Food outstanding and such a pleasure to eat. The grounds are so wonderful, everything is maintained to high standards, well done Forss House team. I will be back soon

This Hotel was absolutely charming - from making the reservation thru to arrival. We we looked after all the way, the food was delicious, the staff were outstanding (nothing was too much trouble). We had a delightful bungalow (Fast Eddie), in lovely grounds. Our pup was well looked after. We spent a fabulous couple of days there celebrating a very special ladies birthday. Would happily go back H n S

We stayed one night in the main hotel in late August. Room was very comfortable and pretty big with a really high quality feel. Staff were universally brilliant, very friendly and attentive. Tasting menu for our evening meal was lovely and overall good value. The bar had an enormous selection of whisky if that's your thing. A couple of lovely short walks and one longer one right from the hotel to the rocky beach nearby were available. Recommended for sure.

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Forss House Hotel on our way to Orkney. The food was fresh and delicious, definitely worth booking in advance! The staff were welcoming and friendly. We wish we could have stayed longer to discover a bit more of the area, but we got a quick walk down to the beach and it was lovely. The decor is gorgeous and the whisky room is cosy and inviting.
The beds are super comfy and the bath was outrageously glorious! What more could you want? The hotel is dog friendly, but just be aware no dogs in the dining room, but you could always have dinner in the bar if you want to keep your fur baby part of the action. We look forward to coming back!
