Queen of the Cotswolds, Lower Slaughter Manor reigns supreme; serene and gracious. This lovely manor house displays all the hallmarks of refined, regal luxury and is testimony to inspired contemporary design complementing fine period features to exalted effect. One of the finest 17th C country houses in the south of England, Lower Slaughter Manor stands in its own lovely gardens next to the historic church in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter, regarded by many as the most beautiful village in England.

The worst and most overpriced coffee we ever had in UK: 22.5 for 3 coffees. More expensive than in a 5 star hotel in central London. If it was good I wouldn't have mind paying. But it wasn't. I don't usually leave reviews and don't like to argue on spot, but I think this might help the team there. There are recipes available online for flat white & Americano coffees so there is really no excuse for not knowing how a flat white looks like.
Instead of an Americano we got something that looked like a tea - we were joking it was the water used to clean the coffee machine. Definitely didn't come from an espresso machine, more a drip coffee? But for almost 8 it must have been the most expensive coffee ever. Instead of a flat white (espresso & frothed milk) we got some warm milk with a bit of coffee.
The only coffee they got right was the cappuccino. The waiter ignored us sat at the table in the garden and we were only able to order once we went to the bar. Some orders were taken at the table some didn't.

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea on the lawn yesterday. Our compliments to the chef, each aspect was exquisitely hand made and flavoursome. Very different patisserie. They were light but we left absolutely full. A beautiful setting and highly recommend. ( The photo does not show; Sausage rolls, 3 flavour sandwiches, 4 different cakes, 2 different scones - cream/jam each - for two people)

From start to finish, a lovely stay at the Manor House. The staff were fabulous - welcoming and attentive. Our room (Emma) was clean and well appointed, with beautiful views over the entrance and front gardens. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant, followed by drinks by the fire in the lounge. Some stunning walks nearby. All in, a great experience. We'd visit again.

The room rate charged is what I would expect of an exceptional hotel. Sadly it fails to get close to a top hotel on many fronts. I was left feeling completely underwhelmed by the whole experience. Sorry, but we won't be returning to this or any Brownsword hotels, as it felt like the policy of the hotel is to cut corners to save money. Admittedly the hotel industry needs to recover from the pandemic but I've never been to a hotel where a full English breakfast is served with half of a mushroom on each plate.
Other examples include a tissue box having literally two tissues in on the first day. Fair enough, they wouldn't necessarily know it was nearly empty, but after housekeeping on the second day the empty tissue box hadn't been replaced. More, the towels were replaced but only one bath towel for the second day. The staff ranged from pleasant to officious and were generally pretty wooden.
No genuine warmth towards clients and a dog friendly policy which doesn't allow a dog to enter any part of the main hotel. On the plus side it's a beautiful building and the food was excellent.

We had a great overnight stay here which included an evening meal and a wonderful breakfast. The rooms are great - our had a view over the entrance to the hotel which was lovely. The rooms are well-appointed and clean. They retain that country Manor feel, but in a pleasant way. Public areas are well cared for and are also very clean. Staff are great - Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.
We particularly enjoyed the evening meal in the dining hall. It's laid out in a relatively formal way with individual tables facing into the centre of the room. I actually loved this and the setup definitely added to the experience, especially when he cheeses were being wheeled around with everyone looking! I'd recommend a visit here.

Love the hotel and the staff were fabulous. Great setting and even better rooms. But why oh why do all the Brownsword hotels get so miserly on TV channels. You are in the country, at 11pm there isnt anything else to do. So having nothing to watch and no option to pay for more or connect personal devices to the TV is ridiculous
