Set in the historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, amid the warm honey coloured Cotswold stone buildings and rolling countryside, this beautiful and award winning 17th Century hotel has become justly renowned for its warm hospitality and fine dining. Named after the ancient vine that shades the hotel's Conservatory Restaurant, the Grapevine offers a compelling combination of the finest accommodation, food, wine and service, in the heart of one of the prettiest towns in the Cotswolds.

Old place, parts dating to the 17th century. Actually a collection of buildings comprising 22 rooms plus an onsite restaurant and bar. We were cruising through the Cotswolds on our way from London to southwest England, and decided to spend the night here, as it was recommended in one of our travel guidebooks. We were fortunate that they had a room available (no reservation, but it is the off-season) at a decent rate (165, including breakfast and a 3-course dinner).
The place is quaint and charming. actually that description could be applied to the town and the Cotswold area in general. Our room was in what appeared to be a newer annex, and wasn't top of the line by any means. the radiator wouldn't shut off, the TV was miniscule, the tub/shower was a hazard to access, etc. The food, however, was the bomb, even though no one in the English countryside appears to have any clue about how to make a martini.
Free wifi was a plus as well. Our room had a nice little garden patio, although the temps were much too cold to use it. The staff was great, and we had a nice experience overall.
