We were driving past here and stopped for afternoon tea so cannot comment on the rooms. The afternoon tea was amazing. The gardens and views are spectacular right on the edge of lake Windemere. The historical mansion was well maintained with lots of period charm. Overall an excellent afternoon tea experience.

Stayed two nights in the boathouse, and whilst it's not the largest room in the hotel (no lounging area) it is unique in the sense it's located on the lake. There's no one closer to the lake than you in eye shot when you stay in the boathouse. The hotel itself is a beautiful building and classic inside. The restaurant serves quality food, fair size, and friendly staff - special shout out to Chris for his helping planning a local walk. However, the price for this hotel is based on the amazing gardens and stunning views of lake Windermere. The gardens are seriously stunning and there is plenty of wildlife to observe such as rabbits and various birds. I can't emphasise this enough.

Fabulous service, staff so attentive and friendly. Made to feel welcome even with a dog which can sometimes leave you feeling a little ostracised. In fact the dog is treated like the main guest and gets all the attention, treats etc . Nothing is too much trouble for the staff when it comes to making your stay as pleasant as possible. The friendly relaxed atmosphere is everywhere.
We never saw a member of staff who wasnt wearing a smile. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are very inviting and a lovely place to take a stroll after eating. There are lots of places to find a quiet and relaxing seat. The outdoor terrace is great. The food is excellent and there is a great deal of choice from all of the different types of menu on offer.
All in all a fantastic stay and somewhere that we would return and recommend to friends and family. Most importantly of all. our dog loved his stay and said if we did decide to come again he'd probably see fit to accompany us.

Beautiful building in a stunning location. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room spacious and comfortable. A very comfy bed with a spectacular view. The private terrace was a real bonus, the perfect spot for an afternoon cuppa. Really enjoyed the food at both dinner and breakfast. Plenty of comfortable little nooks to relax in.

What an amazing venue! At last minute Hayley and team were able to arrange a private dining room to fit our family of 12. The room is spectacular overlooking the lake and made us feel very special. Kevin our host was great throughout and very attentive. I secretly proposed to my partner down by the lake in the pagoda and upon overhearing this news Kevin quickly arranged for the day to be even more special. The Langdale now holds a special piece in our lives and we will visit a lot more and cant wait to stay in the boating room next year. Thank you again guys!

We stopped here as a family on our way up to Scotland. We were only going to stay for one night but ended up staying an extra night because it is such a lovely place! My dinner was fantastic (roast tarragon chicken), the Northern breakfast was great and the staff are all incredibly attentive and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were incredibly comfortable and clean, and it is also a dog-friendly hotel. We had stunning views of Lake Windermere from our rooms in The Lake House too. I literally couldn't fault the place!

We wanted to give my mum who is visiting from Mexico a very British experience, and it was perfect! We all loved every second we spent in the hotel, including Buddy, our little frenchie, who made good friends all over! Food was delicious, the view was superb! The house is stunning! We had breakfast in the room one day and it was excellent! We really did not want it to end!
We missed afternoon tea though. so we have another excuse to go back! Location wise it is perfect! Right in front of the lake, 20 min walk from Ambleside and for the ferry to go around the lake! They dont get 5 stars, they get 10! BRILLIANT!

Beautiful building with one of the greatest views you will see in England. The staff were attentive and helpful and the bar guy stood out. Inside the place is fabulous but alas the rooms are tired now and due to an expected upgrade somewhat neglected and dare I say.grubby in parts. We loved our stay though.

Wonderful, brilliant, fantastic, awesome, idyllic, tasty, relaxing, beautiful, friendly and fun. If you have an experience like us, you'll love it. So, if you can, don't think about it too much. Just go. The staff in this hotel are probably the most universally lovely I have experienced in many years of staying at many, many hotels.

Whilst the hotel may be a little tired the attentiveness of the staff and management was 2nd to none. From the start of our Christmas experience every detail was thought off and the hotel went over and above to make our stay as special as possible. Nothing was too much trouble! The food was exceptional and cannot be faulted in any way. The hotel is soon to undergo a major renovation and will be closed for some months but I can't wait to return. so a big thanks to all that were involved In making our Christmas Stay magical

We unfortunately found ourself stranded in Ambleside after a terrible storm. We were supposed to be staying in Windermere and at 1 resigned to the fact that we wouldn't be getting back to our hotel that night (our car and all of our things we're at our hotel in Windermere). We called a number of hotels, who all knew the situation, and they just advised 'there was no room at the inn' despite one of the hotels still showing vacancies online.
We felt very worried and a little at a loss, not dressed for a night out in the cold. We called the Langdale who were extremely welcoming, the team there were so accommodating and understanding. The advised in the morning that we could stay as long as we needed, found us tooth brushes and tooth paste. Truly so lovely in our hour of need. The hotel itself had lots of charm and character with spectacular view (of a VERY windy lake).
A very traditional old English feel. I typically stay at some of the more 'up market' hotels when we visit the lakes - I come around three or four times a year. We love a spa trip. However, I'll would absolutely stay at Langdale Chase again. Thankyou so much!

What a beautiful location for a romantic weekend away! Nestled right on the lake, this converted manor home has views and grounds to die for. There's the main, historic hotel with incredible woodwork, fireplaces and oil paintings that take you straight back 200 hundred years (or, at least what I would have imagined two hundred years ago) and the newly built "Lake House" (where we stayed) that houses 8 rooms, all with balconies or terraces and incredible lake views. It's situated between the crowded Windermere and quaint(er) Ambleside (my preference, although not directly on the Lake), and an easy drive to all the surrounding lake towns, making for easy exploration. It's a bit of a blue rinse crowd, perhaps due to the price (although they are having a great "May Madness" special with half-priced rooms).
We preferred the intimacy of the Lake House, which made it feel like we had our own private villa. Be sure to ask for one of the corner rooms on the 1st floor, as these are the only ones with private balconies that you can sit out on-- the two rooms in the middle of the first floor only have metal "Juliet balconies" that you can just barely stand on, and the ground floor rooms' patios are shared (although blocked off so they are semi private).
We skipped dinner at the hotel as it was expensive, and in the same room that the included breakfast is served (plus, you miss out on the incredible views because it's dark)-- and there are many more appealing options both in Windermere and Ambleside (not to mention up the road in Troutbeck-- go to the Queen's Head! You won't be disappointed!) Definitely a place we will return to!
