OK so booking in was fine. The walk to my room down the corridor was dreadful poor decoration and what looked like rotten wood. Walk into my room and was surprised how good it was very clean and nicely decorated with a large bathroom. Bar was well stocked and a pleasant atmosphere the breakfast in the morning was first class all in in great value for

I've stayed here before and was quite pleased last time however! This time the room they put me in has handprints on the walls around the bed one wall has plaster coming away and another is all scratched up. Next time I'll bring a black light, wait I think I wouldn't want to know There is some type of brown goo in the bath and the tiles have mould on them.

Also my light bulb is missing. Paid for late checkout until 1 and cleaning lady knocks once at 12 and barges in even though the sleeping sign was on the door. I called reception to complain and all I got was well we are sorry youve got until 1 still and nothing about a refund for my late checkout if so I most likely wouldn't have brought up everything else here, This stay was a disaster!

Great place to stay, and great price with breakfast included, very close to family that we where visiting from a Friday till monday then going to Cornwall for 5 days then back here for another weekend. Check in was good they even let us rebook the same room and got earlier check in. Was surprised how quiet the hotel was especially for weekend stays.

To be honest I read some reviews that made me think a little, but the things some of them said where just nit picking. Yes it's got a few years wear and tear but there are signs of freshening up, bedroom was large and clean, just the bed a tad to hard for me, but not a problem as I travel with a single mattress topper so grate nights sleep. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and the staff very friendly. Would definitely stay agin

Rooms spacious and clean, staff lovely and helpful, breakfast was excellent. Only downside was lack of ale choice at the bar and we couldnt turn our heating down. Other than that a really good hotel

Another lovely stay. Very friendly welcoming staff. Great location for getting around the Midlands. Very large, comfortable, clean bedroom. Great that pets are welcome. We will certainly stay again if in the area.

Shambolic, Stayed here on a work trip, Staff we're polite however. The halls to the rooms lights decided when they wanted to work, there was black mould in the room around the window and up the wall, The ceiling was peeling so there was clearly a damp issue aswell as the mould, They said we had 25 for food but restaurant was closed in the evening and didn't open until 8 in morning making it useless, We woke to a power cut at 6AM no apology or anything, AVOID!

We attended a wedding yesterday at this hotel and was greeted by a team of very polite and professional members of staff. My partner is a diabetic and experienced a hypo (low blood sugar level) on arrival and was served by a female member of staff behind the bar who attended to his needs immediately. We would like to say thank you this lady and also to the members of staff who served on our table. The food and service was excellent.

If you've staying here I would recommend their tribute night. The meal was fantastic and breakfast in the morning was really good. The rooms are nicely equipped tea and coffee making facilities in the room tv a hair dryer in bathroom and the fastest filling bath we've ever experienced.

Booked a tribute night package, the hotel room was spacious and appeared clean, the only downside was the heating, the radiators didn't get very warm and the thermostats on them didn't seem to work. The restaurant manager was most helpful moving us to a table on the lower floor as my husband has difficulty walking. The food was excellent and the show ( The Jersey Boys) were fantastic. We had a lovely night for our anniversary, a great night's sleep and a lovely cooked breakfast the following morning. Our third time here and we'll definitely be returning.

Due to covid, testing positive, decided to cancel my stay 18th December. Not expecting a refund, which is not in their company policy, but they still refunded without any hesitation. Will definitely book again.

Good: Breakfast is fresh and good variety of food. Also fried egg is perfectly cooked. Bathroom is of a good size, good clean bathroom. Bad: No dental or shaving kit (was told I could go buy some at some shop). Low ceilings, if you are over 6 foot tall your head will be touching the ceiling in the shower. Shower is fixed mounted on the wall, so you can't wash yourself down properly.

Run down and a bit drab. Corridors have a smell. Wifi is kind of slow, blurry video calls. Terrible phone signal. Bed mattress is a spring mattress and has no topper so the springs create pressure on you, quite uncomfortable. Verdict: Only worth it if it is the absolute cheapest around or very close to where you need to be. For my next business trips I will avoid this hotel.

Food was amazing, bacon for breakfast was the best I have ever tasted. Rooms need updating but large, clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Would visit again.

Myself and my partner had been staying at the hotel on a fortnightly basis for the past 18 months. Paying 200 a month over 18 months works out to be quite a lot of money. we supported the hotel through the pandemic. on our last visit the hotel had a wedding reception party there, one of the guests had to much to drink and verbally abused my partner but the hotel decided to ban us for this! Extremely annoyed with the decision that was made and all the money we have put into staying there. loyalty doesn't mean anything obviously to the hotel. disgraceful

The only real problem I recon is the place is poorly signposted. It's got a huge sign saying the Great Barr Hotel. But can easily get mixed up for the building right next to the sign post. Needs a big arrow showing you were to go. Then telling you on the left!

Great staff. Bit pricey. Dated and small room with clean bed. but it may be because I checked in early and my room was not ready. 24 hour access and free cctv carpark.

The worst rooms offered for 65 each. Rooms 100 and 117 smelled of mould, there were visible damp marks in the room. I would let a dog stay there

Staff were very helpful. My room 104 was quiet, a little road noise with the window. It was clean, but smelt a little musty. I understand renovations are underway. The "deep soak" bath was wonderful with lots of blissfully hot water. Good parking. A decent cheap, safe night with safe parking
