George Hotel

We had a lovely stay in the George. The room was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was excellent. Very good selection of beers and spirits at the bar. There is a private car park also. Would definitely come back again.

We camped overnight just outside of Hathersage and visited The George twice - once for lunch upon arriving and again the next day for our breakfast! The food/drinks were delicious and of great quality and we were pleasantly surprised by the prices they were charging, as we thought it would come to a lot more. The service was great as well - attentive and friendly both times. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Hathersage. :

The hotel was beautiful, great bar space, lounge area and dinning area, court yard was a lovely little sun trap and beautifully decorated. Location is perfect right in the village. Our room was very spacious with a modern bathroom. Lovely great big wardrobe and our room was at the back of the hotel so could sleep with the window open and it was still quiet out.

Breakfast in the morning was delicious and the evening food was incredible. Only slight disappointment for us was the mattress was a bit too hard for us and pillows a bit flat, the rooms have obviously been refurbishsed just some little snags in the bathroom around the tilling and paint that could easily be rectified to give it a more polished finish. Overall we would remcomend this hotel, great location, great food and lovely staff.

Sunday lunch was wonderful. The refurbished / remodeled George is amazing whilst retaining the outside features Food and wine were of the highest quality, Hard working, on a busy day, were friendly, helpful and attentive. Well done to all the team

Been back three times since its renovation because the food is so good. The menu is extensive but everything we've tried so far has been good, especially burgers and pies. Service is very friendly android efficient. Only downsides are that if you're anywhere near the loos, the extremely loud hand driers keep reminding you of it. The car park can be a bit fiddly since it's rather narrow.

Definitely would recommend to anyone to visit. I can't fault anything with our visit on Good Friday Evening. We had a table of 7 booked. The service was amazing and effective. The atmosphere throughout the venue was great. The food was absolutely excellent. We all left full and happy!

Busy warren of a place, stylish decor, great soundtrack, excellent food and excellent gluten free choice. Friendly, efficient staff. We were served by Barnaby, who's new, but already a star. Great evening, thanks!

Recently refurbished very nicely. Incredibly dog friendly staff and a good selection of local beers including the excellent Jaipur of Thornbridge Brewery. The Lebanese lamb burger was lovely as were the chips. Worth a visit.

We simple couldn't fault it. The flowing bar, lobby and restaurant was just a joy to spend time in. A clean, clutter free, beautiful and excellent use of space. Every detail even down to the music choice and volume level you could tell had been long thought over by hospitality professionals. Our room was lovely, the location is ideal as a base to explore the area, ALL the staff were friendly to a fault and the kitchen served up three wonderful days of fantastic dining.

We got to catch up with the head chef who just exuded experience and passion about his role. And it showed in his team's top work! It's hard to nail down a culinary highlight as there were so many, but the Full English was such a wholesome and great start to a day of exploring this magnificent area! I must also say that the steaks represented as good a value for money as anything I've had in England.

There are very few times we can say with such certainty that we will be returning to a place as we can comfortably say with The George. Many thanks to Vikki, Sam and all the team for making our holiday. It was a pleasure.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Our room (17) was clean and very comfortable. Dinner was the Sunday roast, Yorkshire pudding a bit cremated but apart from that no issues at all. The dessert was very nice. The bar staff were great very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good the sausage and the bacon very tasty, poached eggs dry not runny, everything else was fine. On the whole I would recommend this hotel, it is warm, friendly, and clean, with good on site parking. Thank you for a really nice stay.
