The Frensham Pond Hotel used to be known as The White Horse, one of the six old pubs of Headley. It was run by the Marden family for many years from before 1800. The census of 1841 shows George Marden as the Publican, with his wife Elizabeth, three daughters and three sons, two servants, four guests and a wheelwright, a carpenter and a turner / grinder all living in.
You'll be pleased to note that no room is the same here at Frensham Pond Hotel; each has its own distinctive English charm rooted in the historic character of this 15th-century country house. There are plenty of thoughtful touches of hospitality, too, nestling amid a natural palette of autumn's rich hues - earthy browns are lit here and there by burnt oranges, as if inspired by a sunset playing out on the unbroken surface of the Great Pond itself.Superior rooms and suites are named after trees found around the Pond - perfect if you've a firm favourite you long to return to on your next stay; others have private patios.
Sit and quaff your favourite tipple in a classic retro-cool chair (pretending you're an arch-villain with a penchant for Surrey at its most scenic), or curl up with a good book on the two-seater sofa - your cosy reading nook. There's free Wi-Fi should you wish to jump online, and a Grohe rainfall shower - should you wish to soap up and jump online.

I had read the reviews before we went so was trying to be open minded. I can honestly say that I had the best weekend of my life at this hotel. The location is beautiful and the staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The food was gorgeous and it was the ideal location for a small family wedding. We loved the quirky 1970s styled rooms and the Indian theme throughout. We were sad to leave as it had become home in the short time we were there. The beds are very comfy and the showers are super too! Wonderful place!

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding at another venue. The staff we're excellent and rooms immaculate. Excellent breakfast with varied choices great gym and lovely spa facilities. Lovely walk around the very large pond which took around 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. We will definitely stay again in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Having walked from Frensham great pond, around it's perimeter, The hotel was a welcome watering hole. They garden across the road over a small bridge was lovely. Weather, perfect sunshine and hot and a great view across the pond. Drinks for two was just less than 10 but worth it for the location. definitely a stop the next time we ramble the area.

Had the most amazing birthday weekend here. Staff so friendly, the garden room was lovely and big with our own balcony. The only downfall was the very loud party at breakfast. No need for so much noise on a sunday morning in a quiet location. We could not not hear ourselves talk. Staff should ask them to have respect for other guests.will defo come again though.

We were guests at a wedding which was held here, a stunning location - especially in the sun with the pond across the road. The venue itself was clean and smart and the food was delicious. As wedding guests, we had access to a large outside balcony which was great photos and some top backgrounds for selfie photos! The service was great with plenty of staff on hand, we had such a great time here that it felt like we were on a mini holiday. We'll.be heading back here again for sure!

We were greeted by Hannah on front desk who was both warm, friendly and helpful. With a 5month old in tow and no lift she kindly helped us to our room. The food in the restaurant is very tasty and again, the staff here are brilliant. The grounds are amazing, the hotel is lovely. The room was roomy and had a brilliant outside area. Carpets a bit dated is the only negative I can think of. Looking forward to making this a regular yearly visit for our little one to remember as she grows up!

We stayed at Frensham as a family for Christmas 2021. We were told rooms had been empty for a few days prior to our arrival however they weren't ready when we arrived. Check in seemed very unorganised which led to a fair amount of time for us having to hang around. We stayed in garden rooms which smelled damp so need sorting. I am aware two rooms were flooded earlier in the year and think this has affected furnishings maybe, as well as rooms either side of them. Mattress was also different to other rooms on our previous stays and not as comfortable. Rooms were clean.
Christmas Dinner was lovely but I don't believe it was 6 course as advertised. Buffets were disappointing as although food was nice, there wasn't much variation and not really a full buffet. Given this, I felt the Christmas package was overpriced. Drinks were very expensive 2.90 for a small bottle of coke! Couldn't have cocktails as the cocktail barman wasn't there over Christmas. However, given all of the above, the staff were amazing, especially Mala who went above and beyond to ensure we felt safe when dining given the pandemic and us having a vulnerable person with us, and Martin at the bar who worked so hard.
They were there every day and nothing was too much trouble and made our stay an enjoyable one. The General Manager was quite rude on occasion and I witnessed him twice reprimanding members of staff in front of guests, which is not acceptable and uncomfortable for staff involved and guests. He also didn't make himself known to guests or greet anyone arriving which I would have expected.
