The Forth Inn is a family run hotel in the centre of Aberfoyle and at the heart of Scotland's First National Park. We are Phil and Tris Crowder, our staff and ourselves offer a friendly welcome to all, whether you are staying in the well appointed 'Accommodation', patronising the 'Restaurant' or just spending some time in the 'Bar or lounge'.
Services
We gave you a bit of a favour of what the Forth is about on our home page so i'm not going to bore you with saying it again, just sayin. 6 Bedrooms a great Bar and superb Food! What I would add, is that we're doing our best to maintain the standards and values thousands of you have come to know and trust over the years and my hope is to continue doing that for many years to come. We have a great team here led by Mike in the Kitchen and Lee out front, if you have been here before, no doubt you will know them.
The dream can be a reality - the loch, the highlands, the legendary Scottish Warmth can all be yours to enjoy on this the biggest of days. Whether you are a group of 2 or a party of 120 there will be no worries, no niggles or hassles. I just wanted to thank you and your staff for everything last weekend for Laura's and my wedding.
On the food front, we have a great menu which is supplemented with regular "Chefs Choices". We do food weeks ie National Pie Week, we do food nights ie Curry Night and we always have menus available for things like Mothers Day & Valentines etc. and if you have any food requirements all you need to do is ask, if we can do it (and we usually can) we will do.
But don't panic if it's not for you, we have 3 areas out front and it's only the bar that we like dogs to go in!. Our wee dining area is strictly out of bounds for hounds! We are lucky enough to be in an environment just made for dogs, it really is just one fantstic playground for them. If you are unfamiliar with the area don't worry, pop into the bar and we will give you a map with loads of waymarked routes (some of them start & finish at the pub anyway!)We always have treats for the dogs available, help yourself they are usually on a shelf in the bar.
Around the Trossachs we are not blessed with a great network of bus routes, actually we are not blessed with a great deal of buses! All is not lost, Stirling Council have come up with a system called Demand Responsive Transport or DRT as it's known. Basically you phone Striling Council (SC) book a DRT get picked up & dropped off where & when you want!

My partner and I intended to stay for breakfast after a weekend of camping, we popped into the toilets before ordering. However whilst waiting, the wait staff started talking loudly about how people were coming in using the toilets and that they should get portaloos for people travelling. This was followed up by more unnecessary attitude of 'we have guests sitting down for breakfast we can't just have people popping in and out.' This carried on during me waiting outside for a good 5 minutes. We did come in for breakfast, just needed to use the toilet first. But after hearing this conversation, we felt this was not the welcoming environment for us for breakfast.

Went for lunch, two burgers and chips. Shortly after two pints of chips came out and I said "do the burgers come out separately?" And the waitress said "yes" a little while later two burgers came out with a small bowls of chips on each plate and we questioned why we had so many chips. I then went back to the bar to get a can of juice and the waitress explained she'd brought the first two pints of chips to the wrong table, I said "I did question you about it and thought it was a lot of chips" I then went to pay for my can of juice and she said "11.50" I replied "for a can of juice?" She said "and the two chips" I said "you can't expect me to pay for your mistakes." Food was very good but the service very poor.

In central Aberfoyle. Friendly helpful staff. A range of beers and decent menu with changing specials. Dogs allowed in the bar, but not the restaurant where there is a roaring fire in the winter. Excellent for s meal or a drink and great for touring the Trossachs and beyond. A beer garden for summer days tops it off.

Decent food, but the highlight is really the staff. I am literally speechless about how nice they ALL are. they put a table in front of the fireplace for us, kept on checking, always smiling. Massive kudos to all of them, it was my first meal in Scotland and I am amazed by how nice people are. Thank you

Cozy and consistent pub fare in the charming locale among the "Bens" and "Lochs" of the Trossachs National Park. We went on two separate occasions on our recent holiday and were charmed by the ambiance, pleased with the service, and more than satisfied with the quality of the food. I had a tasty lamb shoulder with scalloped potatoes in a brown rue.
Our son had a steak pie which lived up to even his exacting standards. My wife enjoyed the fish and chips. Worth a visit for lunch or dinner if you're in the area or even worth the drive if you are nearby.

As an avid hill walker I find myself in The Forth Inn every few months or so. This weekend we were staying with some friends who live in Aberfoyle so a trip to The Forth for a pint and some lunch was on the cards. After a 3 hour walk we found ourselves a nice wee cosy seat to have a rest. The Forth is the perfect small town pub, rustic, friendly and full of character.
The menu has a lot of variety and I am pretty loyal to the fish and chips as its one of the best meals I have had from from there. As we were only having lunch this time I opted for the nachos and some garlic bread and my boyfriend had a salmon and cream cheese panini. All of our other friends opted for a haggis panini, when in Rome eh! The nachos were nothing too spectacular but the portion was nice and big and a good helping of cheese.
The paninis however were a massive hit in fact the haggis paninis were so good they were gone before i could get a picture! The Forth is everything you want from a bar in a quaint town, its dry, warm, there is food and there is beer. The staff are always more than welcoming and the wifi is free! My only gripe, and it is very minor, is they do a "pint of chips" so basically chips served in a pint glass which is all well and good until you are near the bottom and have no choice but to up end the remainder of your chips into your mouth! Not always a good look.

Popped in here after a wee walk around Aberfoyle and Queen Elizabeth Forest. It's a pub with rooms and has a nice homely feel to it. Dinner served from 6pm so we placed our order at 6.01 - starving! I opted for steak pie which came with chunky chips and veg. Big hearty chunks of proper steak served in a puff pastry box. Great idea serving like this as I got to enjoy all of the pie without having the pie dish in the way. Bf opted for canon of roe deer with mustard mash, veg and port/wine jus.
Meat was like butter, absolutely beautiful. Not so keen on the mustard mash - I'm a mash lover and like it straight up without any bells and whistles. Price wise, my food was around a tenner and the Bf's meal nearer 15 but it was honestly worth it - talk about food envy! We're going back to visit Go Ape! so will make another stop here, and I'll be having the deer next time!
