This popular seaside village, situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park coastline, offers great beaches and fantastic coastal views. An ideal place for that relaxing retreat! The beach is busy in summer and is a mix of sand and pebbles. A stream runs down to the sea from Mulgrave Woods, located in a steep ravine above the village.

A review of the restaurant only. Upon entering you are sat in a small bar area where your orders are taken - I think going straight up to the restaurant would be better. For the money we found the main course to be average. The restaurant area decor is pleasant but not particularly high end. The deserts are a big let down. They serve miniature pots of around 10 different types of miniature deserts and recommend 2 or 3 per person.

They are all pre made and it lacks presentation as the pots are simply put on a plate then served to the customer. The positives are that the service is very friendly and attentive

Abysmal attitude from the chef/owner. Maybe he should stay in the kitchen and learn to cook properly, leave front of house and communication to someone who knows how to treat customers with at least a little respect.

This is one for "when can I come back again list". Beautiful place, lovely people and exceptional food. This is a little gem of a place that you come mainly for the food and the staff. Try not to think of it as a hotel as the rooms are a bit on the small side (but then again you are in a period house) as a restaurant with rooms, something you will understand after you have tackled their fantastic wine list!

Breakfast should also be mentioned as the "full english" was described by my partner as the best she has ever had and the home cured hot smoked salmon breakfast I had was wonderful, complimented by homemade jams and marmalades. The staff really make your stay special and quite a unique experience.

Enjoyed lovely meals last night, our fish courses melted in your mouth. The sweet Choice of 5 assorted puddings were simply heaven. A wonderful evening long awaited but worth the months of waiting. The customer shielding was cleverly done so as to keep us safe yet not spoil the atmosphere They limit number and one sitting so not easy to get in but really worth waiting for! Thank you for a wonderful evening

This is a small bijou restaurant with rooms that allow you to enjoy an evening of great food good wine and then a peacefully nights sleep. The menu is not extensive but it is fell of delights, particularly if you like seafood. Their wine list us good and they make chocolate delights in-house as a treat. They have embraced the covid regulations with we'll thought out processes and procedures that while allowing you to dine in safety impinge in the atmosphere as little as possible. If you can get a booking treat yourself it will brighten these dark days with some joy.

A really wonderful restaurant. Probably one of the best seafood restaurants I have had the pleasure of visiting in quite some time. COVID-19 measures are in place but don't detract from the fantastic food, amiable staff and welcoming atmosphere. I would return here in a heartbeat.

Lovely place.excellent food and service but a very small room. We enjoyed a short break here and the evening meals were lovely with fresh seafood and delicious desserts. Breakfast was offered as full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.no cereals, fruit, yogurt etc which we found strange. Very clean and covid safe throughout but our room "Nora " was small and dark and cramped.not worth the price of the stay. We would visit agsin but just for an evening meal.
