The Edward Hotel in Gloucester sits in a Victorian, townhouse terrace and faces London Road, once the final part of the Roman Ermin St. The Edward is the only privately run hotel with parking in the city centre. Our guests are our reputation so we welcome you with pleasure, look after you as family and part as friends. Our hotel location is a bonus - the city is a short stroll of around 10 minutes so we are out of earshot of the city nightlife. Our bar closes at a civilised time and we do not hold functions.
Services
We offer a traditional full English breakfast service combining convenience of buffet style drinks and cereals etc with the personal touch of a cooked breakfast and toast prepared to order. We generally have dairy free milk alternatives, gluten free sausages and bread available, along with vegetarian and vegan sausages.
We have an informal bar at the Edward Hotel which is ideal for a quiet drink before and/or after an evening in the city. We do not stay open late nor do we have any functions or loud music. We promote ourselves as a quiet hotel and are up front about not being suitable for individuals or groups who want to party into the night.
Throughout the hotel corridors are photos and information displays about historic buildings, events, festivals, and people important to Gloucester. The gallery has sections upon Roman, Medieval, and Victorian, periods. There is an extensive section upon the Docks and the history of the development of the river, as well as the locks and dry docks that are still in use today.
There is a conundrum at the hotel that most guests discover at breakfast time. There are two parts. Some guests crack part on within seconds others have stayed for many days and left asking not to be told the answer because they want crack it at home. Part two is more difficult and you will not get any help with this.

Superb hotel which offers a very comfortable stay and is ideally located for town centre, quayside and train station. The service was excellent and all mod cons were available. The room was spacious, nicely decorated throughout and the bed was one of the comfortable I've slept on. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely hotel. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The room was beautifully clean. The bed was very comfortable. The microwave oven and fridge in the room were very handy. All in all a very positive stay in Gloucester.

The couple who run the hotel are charming helpful. My wife often stays a few days while working at the hospital. Edwards hotel is a comfortable and friendly safe haven after busy shifts. Thought has gone into comfortable beds and quality cotton linen and towels. Effort into little arty touches to the decor finishes off the rooms.l am grateful to the hosts to look after my wife as a guest there.l have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to all and at such reasonable rates.

A two star hotel with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Breakfast included an optional quirky challenge related to the decoration of the dining area. The hotel clearly had a decent occupancy, and yet was very quiet with little to be heard from other residents due to decent walls. The location is convenient for seeing Gloucester, being in walking distance from the centre.

For a small hotel I rate it very highly. Nothing is too much and breakfast is excellent. Situated on the main road into Gloucester transport is not an issue. Train and bus stations are a short walk away.

Tired old converted buildings in down market area. The initial welcome was poor, apparently we dragged him away from watching the football in the lounge. Room was tired with dodgy plumbing and wiring and decor that even grandma would agree was dated. We requested coat hangers twice before they let us collect them from downstairs. A bathroom added in the corner had a door handle that pulled off as did tired old plastic fittings on the shower. Towel rails were rusty. It does provide limited parking and is a 15 minute walk to better parts of the town. The room was clean and towels were fluffy.

Perfect situation to town. Clean, warm and biggest bed I've ever slept in! Slept like a log. Lovely breakfast, would stay again.

We stayed here for a night in July. The owner was lovely and welcoming when we arrived. The car park was a huge bonus too. The family room was spacious with the kids having their own space with two single beds and a good sized double room for me and my husband. The bathroom was small but fine and the shower was good (ours has a shower curtain instead of a door).

Location is very convenient for the town centre - only a ten minute walk to the cathedral. the English breakfast was great too, served by friendly staff. Would stay here again!

I can honestly say I've had the best customer service ever from this hotel. I foolishly thought that it had a lift and when I called to check they did not. However they did have a ground floor dedicated to disabled individuals. U fortunately they couldn't swap me around as they were fully booked. Even though the error was mine, the hotel waived my fee on booking.com and allowed me to cancel for free, even though it was out of the free cancellation time. They also recommended another hotel. All the time they were polite and friendly. Thanks Edward hotel
