We stayed here last week with family as we had to travel to Stafford for a funeral. I have to say, staying here really turned our weekend around and we have a lovely, enjoyable stay. Having had to book a last minute room as I confused dates of when we were supposed to be staying, Stacey, the receptionist was a real life saver booking us a last minute room and being super helpful in doing so. Stacey was so friendly, welcoming and helpful as were all the staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. (Food was amazing!) We will certainly pay a visit again soon :) Mrs Sophie Catlin

Beautiful setting for a wedding. Room set up for ceremony top class . Exquisite. Looking out over the canal with barges gliding over the water adds to the openness and Country retreat feel. Food excellent from the starter through to main meal and beyond with tasty moreish dessert. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Smooth turn around to evening room. Bar well staffed. Seating and nice walk outside for a quiet few minutes. Beautiful lake area. Didn't stay so cannot comment on rooms, maybe next time.

The setting is very nice and lovely to walk around or sit outside but we had such a long wait for our food. It was nearly an hour. The people in our group who had the lamb pie enjoyed it but I had the Wild garlic chicken Kyiv, lemon and parsley buttered Jersey Royals, gem lettuce, radish, spring onion salad. You can see from the photo that it was over cooked. The crust was burnt and bitter to taste.

We have now stopped on a couple of occasions when traveling. It's a wonderful alternative to a service station being just off the motorway. Perfect place to walk dogs and they are very welcome in the longe bar too. Tasty food, nice grounds and free ample parking. Worth a stop.

We pre-booked and came in for my Moms birthday and ate in the restaurant due to the bar being unfortunately booked out. Ordered off the bar menu, I had the beef burger. It came swimming in grease (meat not left to rest) so much so that it had turned the bun completely saturated and soggy and it just fell apart and just caused a big mess. I mentioned it to the waitress and rather than remove the meal and return it to the standard what I'm paying for I got brought a dry bun on a new plate.

I then had to transfer all the food over myself, after mopping the chips up from the excessive grease dripping out the burger with a napkin I requested, I asked for some replacement 'burger sauce' which turned up as thousand island sauce, (this originally did not cause the bun to become saturated) I spoke with the manager and explained the situation, I was then offered a replacement but as I was faffing around making a 16 burger myself my family had nearly finished.

I declined the offer of something else. The bill was adjusted to take off the 'burger only' nothing else was offered as a gesture of good will to rectify my bad experience. For this reason I shall not be eating here again, I have echoed this experience to a number of families who live in Acton Trussell who value my reviews. Arriving in the restaurant it looked so grand, it's a shame how this turned out.

I got married here back in September 2021 and it was fantastic! The staff were lovely and accommodating. The food was brilliant and the setting is faultless, it made for some brilliant photographs.

Have been coming here for many years, and always a pleasent experience, until this has recently become "dog friendly" inside. I am allergic to dogs, and find them unsanitary and smelly. They shouldn't be allowed inside eating and drinking establishments. You can barely find anywhere anymore that doesn't allow dogs inside. The situation is becoming ridiculous. Unfortunately I won't be coming here often now.

I didn't stay here so cannot give 5 star until I have. The rest of the hotel is beautiful and the staff were very accommodating for the private function that I attended. Lovely location by the canal side. The approach is through a beautiful tiny residential road and I thought I'd taken a wrong, turn at first but keep going you'll eventually see the large hotel. Ample parking, disabled access. Loos were extremely clean and added luxury soaps and handcreams.

Absolutely stunning hotel, great service and beautiful views. Definitely will be booking in again next time I'm in the area. Room was just as expected, clean, tidy and elegant. First hotel I've stayed at that actually had a clean carpet too. Would definitely recommend

Absolutely fantastic anniversary meal at the Moat House, which is also where we got married. We had the Christmas menu and the turkey dinner was absolutely delicious. We were even surprised with some delicious treats afterwards. The staff were all so lovely, helpful and attentive. Thank you so much for making our wedding anniversary so special.

We got married at the Moat House in August and from start to finish the experience was excellent! We had to postpone twice due to Covid and they were so accommodating and made the process a lot less stressful than it could have been. On the day of the wedding they did everything to ensure that our day ran smoothly and couldn't have been more helpful or efficient.

They dressed the room exactly as I wanted it and the food they provided was exceptional. What a stunning setting to have our day in. We got married at St James church just opposite and walked back to the Moat House for the rest of our day. Thank you for making it such an incredible and memorable day for us. Excellent meal, not cheap as it has a 2 star Michelin rating. Staff was pleasant all be it slow for ordering everything. how the kitchen could be behind on an order of seasonal veg when everything else was ready is just poor management, not enough people, ? Wrong management style? Place is beautiful though.

Popped in on the off chance for lunch with Wife, daughter and our little granddaughter. Staff were very pleasant and obliging. The sandwiches were fantastic and very tasty. I would definitely recommend the hunters chicken and ploughman's.

Unfortunately not the best of experiences, had high expectations for wedding venue. Beautiful place, food was amazing in the restaurant, decor top notch and very clean. Staff poor & let everything down Chloe who is the wedding planner barking at us the day before about what's 'in the contract' no people skills to calm our last minute wedding issues.

Obviously a breakdown in communication from things we were told on the last run through. But didn't appreciate her attitude. Only allowed access to CLS an hour before the wedding which didn't give much time to set cake up as guests were arriving and registrar still going over things with groom. Vanessa was easier to talk with and much friendlier & helpful on arriving.

All guests were shuffled outside as function room hand not been altered whilst we were dining, there didn't seem to be anyone on hand for the wedding itself and was left to bar staff, who had a busy evening themselves with their diners. One chap very off hand, almost an intrusion he should have to look after us at all! Waiting staff had taken drinks orders in the restaurant then in the evening trying to find folk to pay was embarrassing.

There were nice touches with flowers, lanterns and lights. Someone even remembered water bowls for the pups And a female member of staff came and cut the cake up for us. Overall the bride& groom had a fabulous time which is the main thing. Just would have been nice for the sets of parents who were paying for it all.

Gentleman's Afternoon Tea at The Moat House. Very nice and good value. Staff really attentive, very polite and friendly. Not the cheapest place for drinks but you're paying for the full experience. Recommended.
