Craig Manor Hotel nestles on the brow of a hill overlooking Lake Windermere, Langdale Pikes and surrounding mountains in the English Lake District. Just a short stroll from the front door is the village of Bowness with its pubs, shops, cinema, cafes and museum. Guests can walk to the lake shore from the hotel in approximately fifteen minutes. From here you may wish to take a cruise to nearby Ambleside or Lakeside.

Such a lovely stay enjoy every minute, the staff great, polite and very helpful the rooms are great very comfortable. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the lake and there are plenty of places to eat and drink if like us you are foodies. Have already recommended the Craig Manor to family and friends and we are hoping to go back again next month.

Did an overnight here when visiting Bowness. The room (302) was clean and spacious, with a good en-suite, comfy bed, and a lake view. Good freshly cooked to order hot breakfast, good service, friendly staff, and plenty of parking at the rear. A short walk into Bowness 5-10 mins to all the shops, bars, restaurants, Lake Windermere etc. Nothing not to like.

Excellent breakfast, very friendly professional staff. Furnishings in the bar area are well past their best. Our room was on the top floor (roof space), limiting space in the bedroom, and making the bathroom very uncomfortable. The real issue was that we stayed for three nights, and the room was not serviced once!

An excellent stay at Craig Manor Hotel. My Husband and I stayed for 1 night with our dog and the hotel staff and Manager were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and again the breakfast staff were very friendly and cheerful, which is always a lovely way to start the day. This is a clean, well maintained hotel with great on site parking and a great location. Very dog friendly and great professional staff. All round an excellent hotel stay for a reasonable price.

I wanted to find a place in Windermere that had the 'old English charm'. It certainly has that to an extent, though there are improvements that could be made. Because it is a very old building, the walls are not soundproofed at all. you can hear conversations being had in the next room. The plumbing didn't always work and the bed. we were in a four poster bedroom (one of the more expensive ones) and you could feel every single one of the springs in the bed.
It was not comfortable at all. Even in cheap backpacker hostels have I slept on more comfortable beds! Other than that, the hotel was very comfortable, cosy, the restaurant was great at catering for gluten free (though marking at breakfast what is and isn't gluten free would have been helpful). The bar was good and there were a lot of comfortable couches around the place.
There were lake views out of one side of the hotel (unfortunately our room looked out to the road). The wifi was terrible - non existent in the rooms and very weak in the common areas downstairs. Overall it was a good stay but there are definitely measures that could be taken to improve. starting with the mattresses and the plumbing! I'd probably stay somewhere else next time but it was good to give it a go!

We loved our stay at this hotel. Location was great between Windermere(15 min walk) and Bowness(5 min walk) Food was very good Bed was compfy Room was clean Staff were friendly. Some reviewed this hotel is a bit bland or need a face lift but I think we need to be fair. This is a 3 star hotel in the country side. Will stay there again if we go to the Lakes.
