Overall a great hotel, and definitely plan on staying here again if in the area. Check in was easy, the room was great, and breakfast at the restaurant was really good and decently priced. Couple weird quirks, no top sheet on the beds, no wash clothes, and didn't seem a waiter knew I was sitting outside, but that's probably just due to new staff/lack of staff everyone is experiencing right now. Would recommend this place and would stay again, think the money we paid for the stay was perfect.

A very pleasant enough remodel. The linens and general vibe was nice. However, a couple of peeves: the desk chairs are not on wheels. Makes it very difficult to move close enough to do work while easily getting up. Second, the lighting in the bathroom is way too dim. Also, the wallpaper in my room was peeling at the joints. Great location and friendly staff. Needs some work, though to make it a 4 or 5 star hotel.

10 out of 10 for me. I'm a weekly road warrior for work and this is a beautiful, clean, friendly hotel. Every staff member I came in contact with was professional and kind. ROOM: My room is spacious and clean. Sheets had a fresh clean smell. Plenty of outlets for electronics, a desk to work at and a huge window for natural light along with a lengthy couch to lounge in. Refrigerator in the room.
Bathroom is a nice size with great water pressure and hot water. Quality bath products. GYM: The gym was fantastic (especially since I had it all to myself this morning) - had a Lifetime cable machine, dumbells, kettlebells, peloton bike, cardio equipment, etc.). Lots of windows so you're not working in a dungeon. FOOD/RESTAURANT: I ended up having dinner at the bar last night.
Although menu is small right now, the food was excellent. The salad was extremely fresh with lots of delicious colorful vegetables to accompany it. I also had the smoked wings and the fries - all very tasty. Lastly this morning, I grabbed a cup of coffee from the lobby early before the gym and then came back for an oat milk latte, chocolate croissant, and a Greek yogurt/berry/granola parfait!
The parfait was done right - truly Greek yogurt (without a sweet taste), fresh berries, and the granola tasted quality as well. Everything is just what I would want in a home away from home. Well done on this Autograph property, Marriott! This line is generally my favorite, but not all are equal. This one really stood out in a great way, so much that I'm writing my review before I'm checking out this morning! Sorry for the lack of pictures but you won't be disappointed. I just wish it was not a quick in/out trip and I could explore the area a bit. Next time!

The worst experience I ever had just trying to get a drink in Montclair. Immature children are running the operation at the Rooftop bar. If you like poorly-run, poorly-managed bars with rude, incompetent employees who wish they worked in NYC, but are here instead, this is the place for you! Instead, I will continue to go to any of the many other nicely-run places in Montclair.
They have no concept as to how to treat customers, or as they call us "walk-ins." (When the fire alarm went off while we were on the rooftop, we were assured it was nothing and to just stay put. Now what could possibly go wrong there? Out of concern for our safety, we left the Rooftop bar just as the three fire trucks and two police cars were pulling up. And that was the best part of our visit) YUCK!

Rooms are small but clean. Personnel are friendly and helpful (with one notable exception). At check in, we asked about available upgrades and were told that we were receiving a complimentary upgrade. The man then gave us a room that, we found out later, was not supposed to be available for guests due to major maintenance issues and was NOT an upgrade even if the door and the sink worked properly.
It was clear that he deliberately lied to us as we found out two days later, when we were told that we had to move rooms and we should never have been in that room because of the well documented issues and that room upgrades were not a thing at this hotel and we hadn't received one (which was obvious as soon as we saw our room). Moving rooms unexpectedly made us late for an appointment. Other than the deliberate lie and deliberately putting us in a room with a security issue (door did not shut properly), the stay was a positive experience.

Nice hotel with upscale modern decor. Very urban, sexy ambiance. The main dining room has high ceilings and plenty of room to feel relaxed and not crowded by others tables being too close. The bar area is swanky and serene with great art and decor to enjoy. The rooftop bar, Alto, is full of energy and verve and has outside space with fire pits. Alto seems like the place to be for locals (we are from the city) because it was packed to the brim and closed to additional guests. Downstairs in the pleasantly quiet dining room, we tried the strawberry and Nutella ricotta donuts and while they could have added more strawberries, the dessert was overall delicious. I wish I could have given The MC Hotel a 4.5 rating. It's not quite a five but it is better than a four.

Wow! Took the hotel up on their special rate for those attending shoes at the Wellmont and I am quite glad I did, our stay was fantastic and I hope to return in the near future. The hotel itself is beautiful, well decorated, fresh and very clean. The customer service was excellent from check in through the end of our stay, including a gracious late check out (and their standard time is already generous at 12pm).
The room itself was beautiful, and far more than we expected. Usually using a special rate ensures a basic room but we found ourselves on the 7th floor, with a wonderful view of the Manhatten skyline. The room had a very comfortable bed, long couch, and series of interesting lamps. The shower was excellent, and attractive. Easy five stars.
